Hopefully the latter but I've said multiple times I'm afraid our shooting was going to come back to earth after an insane start.25 percent against Florida and 30 percent tonight. Cause for concern or just a couple bad games?
if you add in Reed they were 1-11Not really . Reeves and Edwards made it look worse combining for 0-8. Most of them still came within the flow of the offense
Yeah but he was 1-3 so I didn’t add him . That’s not bad even though it’s a funny way of looking at it since I did include Edwards and his 3 shots lolif you add in Reed they were 1-11
They have stretches where they fall in love with the 3 when there was plenty of time to get a better shot.25 percent against Florida and 30 percent tonight. Cause for concern or just a couple bad games?
The timing of it has nothing to do with this, or March. If Cal would let this team play the way it during a stretch of games when we were blowing people out, then the 3pt% would be better. It seems Reed, Reeves, Dilly and Tre were hitting at a good clip. The passing was very good. But Cal doesn't want that. I wants to force the ball in as much as possible, and the offense just slows to a crawl where everyone is standing around. The bigs are not strong enough or aware enough at this point. It was bound to happen. It may continue for a few games, but better now than March.
I dont know why people keep saying Cal doesn't want the team shooting 3s. There's zero evidence to support this theory this year. In fact, there was a play in the second half where Dillingham (I think it was him) threw an entry pass to Bradshaw down low instead of passing out to DJ on the perimeter and Cal was furious. The timing of it has nothing to do with this, or March. To me that's our glaring weakness. We don't have a 7 footer that can get us a back-you-down basket in crunch time. Aaron is great at hustle plays and outquicking on a putback, but when guarded, he's way too slight to power in a bucket. And Ugo is great at running the floor and blocking shots, but gets similarly flustered when guarded with his back to the basket (except for that throw-in hook against Florida). I think it's a real problem. Thankfully we have Mitchell, who can generally get a good shot on the block when needed because he's so crafty.Probably the only major BB team in America with two 7 footers and no post up game.
Also disappointed that he wasn't in at the end of the game.Reed *has* to get more looks. If you take out the halfcourt heave to end the half he took two shots tonight.
Best shooter.

Spot on. When we hit threes we run you out of the gym. It is as simple as that. When we "grind" a game out we score 87 points. That is nothing like what we have seen in the recent past.I dont know why people keep saying Cal doesn't want the team shooting 3s. There's zero evidence to support this theory this year. In fact, there was a play in the second half where Dillingham (I think it was him) threw an entry pass to Bradshaw down low instead of passing out to DJ on the perimeter and Cal was furious.
And yet again I will point out that the offense is not and has never slowed down to a crawl this year. Our tempo increased yet again, and this team runs one of the fastest offenses in the country. There are only three power conference teams with a higher tempo, and only Arizona has an offense that's also in the top 10. Before Bradshaw when everyone was in love with the offense our tempo was ranked in the 60s. As of right now we're ranked 14th. So two bigs have returned, people complain about a slowed down offense that isn't actually happening, and we've jumped 50 spots in the tempo ratings.
At times we hit shots and we'll blow teams out and at times shooting comes back down to earth and we'll play close games. Things ebb and flow throughout the season, that's just how basketball works.
Must have watched a different game than the rest of us. There were zero instances of forcing the ball into the post last night. The timing of it has nothing to do with this, or March. There actually were a couple (few?) turnovers during the dead stretch in the 2nd half where we tried to force it to the post. Just sayin. I'd rather let the guards create and lob to the dunker spot than let Aaron or Ugo try to back someone down. They're just not the right skill set and/or build for that.Must have watched a different game than the rest of us. There were zero instances of forcing the ball into the post last night.
The only decent team we’ve blown it is Miami…you’re gonna shoot badly sometimes. The timing of it has nothing to do with this, or March. I’m more concerned about defense. We’re efficient enough offensively. To me that's our glaring weakness. We don't have a 7 footer that can get us a back-you-down basket in crunch time. He’s not good at creating for himself so he needs to get the ball in spots. That makes him inconsistent when it comes to scoring.Reed *has* to get more looks. If you take out the halfcourt heave to end the half he took two shots tonight.
