This team is so lost on defense.

Either this team lacks the ability to learn and retain what they are taught or they are not getting taught how to play defense. It is the same thing game after game. The most basic play in BB is the pick and roll and this team is clueless on how to defend it.

If you actually pause and watch how lost we are on D it’s embarrassing. I watched Dilly completely lose his guy who didn’t have the ball and he wasn’t guarding anyone. His guy had a wide open 3pt.

Bigs are weak and ineffective and the guards either go under screens or run around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to figure out where they need to be.

Bad combo

And how bout take the baseline away, you learn that in 8th grade

Good teams can get any shot they want against Kentucky, we see it every game. Bad thing is our coach can’t figure it all with all of these draft picks.

We just don't have good individual defenders. Everyone on the roster gets scored on pretty easily. Hard to watch

It's gotta be a little bit of both. There are some defensive things this team sucks at that just aren't hard to teach. How many times can you tell guys not to fall for half assed shot fakes?

It's painfully obvious that this team cannot guard any decent opponent in man to man. Painfully obvious to even the most casual fan of basketball.

By this point of the season, the staff/Cal should have recognized this fact and taught them to play zone. We have good enough athletes to play reasonably well in zone, I believe. Today's, the Zags who are above average at best, had how many shots within 4' of the basket? Possession after possession, they got a great look right at the rim.

And we played man defense every single time. No excuse for that. None.

Most of this is on Cal, but we do have some guys who DO NOT WANT to play defense. They're afraid that if they rack up fouls, they won't get theirs.

The Zags got inside on a post game anytime they wanted no zone to stop them and of course Ky with 3 seven footers do not have a post up game.
