Califraudi with the game on the line
Post like this is why people mock you.Well, what is it with Welch? When things were going great and we were scoring a lot and winning it was all because of Welch. We are still scoring a lot but losing so that’s all on Cal? Probably a combination of everything - Cal, assistant coaches, players being garbage at times, etc…
I think assistant coaches are vastly overrated in terms of their actual impact on a game.
That lob play has probably the lowest percentage of being a successful play of ANY OTHER play that could be called. The lob would have worked if it had been a good pass. The problem is that we’ve sucked at throwing lobs all year. Terrible decision
Bad play call. Poorly executed. The other coach saw it coming from a mile away. The lob would have worked if it had been a good pass. The problem is that we’ve sucked at throwing lobs all year. Terrible decision
Welch’s job was to install a modern day offensive “concept “ . Which he did and for much of the year we have led the country in scoring. But he does not have “in game” input regarding lineups, substitution patterns, or real time play diagramming. And another thing.
What happened to Welch?
Isn’t he suppose to be an offensive guru?
Has he been relegated to a “yes man” to keep Cal happy?
If the dude is as good as everyone was saying at the beginning of the year, how come he went along with such as stupid play?
He’s either not as good as advertised, he tells Cal what he wants to hear to keep him happy, or Cal doesn’t listen to him at all. Probably the latter.
There it is. "Sheppard's fault we lost" - I knew the Calbois would show up in force today. The lob would have worked if it had been a good pass. The problem is that we’ve sucked at throwing lobs all year. Terrible decision
Love Cal-practice!!!The lob play would have worked well if it was executed properly. Unfortunately Cal is not a detail oriented coach that demands precise execution. If the bigs down low would have set solid picks on their defenders it would have worked....but they were sloppy and obviously had never practiced this. I'm sure it looked great on the marker board but again this team was a victim of Cal-practice.
How is that what you took from my post lol? Terrible decision as in Cal was stupid to make that callThere it is. "Sheppard's fault we lost" - I knew the Calbois would show up in force today.
It’s Cal. Our offense is 2nd best in the NCAA. That’s no secret why. It’s because of Welch. But at the end of the game cal will never let a lowly assistant draw a play up. Unless that’s John Robic. Cal’s ego is too big. He thinks he knows better than everyone. The result is his entire staff shaking their heads as he’s drawing it up.And another thing.

Cal likes his starting lineup, he doesn’t want to take any of the kids heartsKentucky trailed Kansas 11-3, Texas A&M 15-8, Tennessee 13-3 and Gonzaga 13-6.
Maybe the starting 5 does matter. Start Dilly
