Here's Rashad "DEAN'S LIST McCants talking about the semester he got all As and was honored as an esteemed scholar by UNC standards -- while never going to class or doing any work. And of course Roy Williams knew about it -- as McCants says here. Nothing is more obvious.



As an aside - I have two kids in college. I know how hard they work to get decent grades - not All A's like McCants -- which they do to honor the ideal of education. What a ridiculous joke to GIVE McCants all As and inscribe his name forever on the Dean's List.

Schools should have refused to play them starting the day the NCAA refused to do their job and treat UNC like most other schools. No one (including UK) had the balls to do that so things have gotten to the point that the FBI is involved in college basketball. Much of where we are now lies at the feet of UNC and the NCAA.

So, ponder that: The consensus worst academic scandal in sports history, but it didn't violate any rules.

Why? Because UNC spent many millions of dollars bullying the cowards at the NCAA to accept this construct: "1. Member schools can set their own academic rules. 2. And our rules at UNC include cheating, giving fake grades to keep jocks eligible and exhibiting a total lack of regard for an honor system that requires work be done for grades. 3. Cheating IS our standard."

From the same story: "The N.C.A.A. did not dispute that the University of North Carolina was guilty of running the worst academic fraud scheme in college sports history, involving fake classes that enabled dozens of athletes to gain and maintain their eligibility. UNC-Cheats is the OJ Simpson of college sports. Everyone alive knows they got away with it. They should be treated as pariahs and never shown any respect.

But he wanted the media attention. So he did his media tour and told a bunch of whoppers. When the NCAA started investigating McCants claims, they found a lot of lies. He could have manned up, sat down with the NCAA, and told the truth (or at least clarified his previous stories and stood by his claims.) But he didn't. While his ex-teammates were testifying in front of the NCAA and refuting his stories, McCants was nowhere to be found.

Your defense of the worst cheaters in NCAA history is an embarrassing joke. Here are some facts: 1. The Wainstein Report established beyond all doubt the decades of cheating which kept McCants and many others eligible. 2. McCants' grades are public - he released them - and they establish that a guy who once compared college to jail was given All As - impossible on merit. Only a total fool would believe he made the Dean's List without massive cheating of the type he describes. 3. Neither UNC-Cheats nor the NCAA even challenged that the essence of McCants' claims - fake grades for no work - was true. The defense, which the NCAA was bullied and bribed into accepting, was that non-athletes also got fake grades, and nothing in UNC's rules, standards or sense of honor required them to punish themselves -- the behavior met their standards.

We've always known FactcheckerUSA was a fake hiding his true colors. Now we know those colors are that sickening light blue.

For McCants to be the liar we have to believe that he really did make all-As and earn status on the UNC Dean's List through his determined and disciplined scholarly efforts - the same guy who got chastised for calling college "like jail" and the guy who UNC-CHeats fans like Factchecker now claim is "mentally ill." His transcripts proved he was telling the truth. You don't go from flunking out to straight A's and the dean's list under normal circumstances. He took nothing but fake classes the session after nearly flunking out. The classes and grades are supported by his transcripts. How is that lying?

The rest of the ACC should have refused to play them. Especially the serious academic schools like UVA, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Boston College.
