The days of KY competing in the SEC in football are OVER with NIL and the transfer portal. It just is.
It’s called NIL and play immediately transfers.
UK was closing the gap in the SEC before these two major changes to college football occurred.

I disagree with this excuse! Look at Big walker, this staff can't get him to play at a elite level. Same with Wallace ect. If he or Wallace was on bama or GA or TN they would be dominant! This football team is better then what they played so far this year. They play sloppy undisciplined and act like they are elite, but don't have a clue. The moment Stoops said he needs more NIL money to compete, I knew it's over. And it'll take a real good season for me to ever believe in stoops again..

It's revived the Basketball recruiting and will devestate Football. I could be wrong but that's what I see. Money always talks and we just ain't gonna outspend all these SEC schools that live for Football.

It’s more than that. That’s stuff that gets used to absolve stoops from anything without have to acknowledge that the game evolves every year but we’re hanging onto old ways. Often discombobulated from go, we complain about recruiting with nil but not the fact that over the last few years we’ve filled staff spots with guys that aren’t recruiters but are family friends or family.
He was a total puss for crying about it, but unfortunately he's right. Good luck waiting for UK to outspend Bama, LSU, UT, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, aTm, Georgia etc. Fools errand. NIL has ruined the game.

NIL wasn’t used as an excuse until Stoops claimed us fans didn’t buy him enough players. Thats when our loser fans followed behind our loser coach blindly like NIL is the issue.

For Kentucky football, stoops will always have to compete with basketball. I can’t think of many programs who face this to the degree that Kentucky does. There’s only so much money to go around, so many boosters. Do you think folks are gonna be ok with losing a stud point guard because we gave the money to left guard instead?
My man, I don’t think people expect us to be a sec big boy. Which is why it takes good coaching to help bridge a little of the gap so that you can get an occasional win against a high level team. Heck, rich brooks had his losses too but took down lsu with a bunch of two star guys recruited during probation. We’re getting less and less competitive against good teams. And in future seasons we’re probably going to play more of them. The stoops formula to even 7 wins is going to take a hit. We have a bigger athletics budget than UT and while that is not NIL we can do much better with what we do have. We can see it happening in real time. Stuff needs to change and it’s starting to look more and more like it can’t happen with stoops. He’s a formula guy and the formula isn’t going to be as successful anymore
Agree. I don't want to make people mad but that's just how I see it. I mean Cal even made fun of the Football program (which I thought was incredibly uncool). But it is what it is.

Uk basketball gets big NIL from nba players. That is a huge help. Uk football doesn't have the pro football star power to do the same.
You may have a point about the guard vs point guard. As long as cal is the coach though i doubt big time boosters think we are winning our 9th title so its throwing money away for little ROI in either sport.
