There is one minute left...

People can make their own list for whatever reasons they want, but for the life of me I don't know how anybody leaves Aaron Harrison off. He should be universal. We don't have a single player that approaches his pedigree in this exact scenario.

How many guys have we had that shot over 40% on the same amount of attempts?? We only had 11 guys in the history of our program that shot over 40% for their career. 6 of those guys are from the Cal era.
I think Fitch did it 3 (at least 2) times.

Ulis
SG
Mashburn
K.Walker
Davis

That shooting guard spot is tough.
No one can compare to Aaron in those 3 back to back to back tourney clutch 3’s.
No one SG has had a better season or single game than Meeks.
Nobody had a bigger F4 game than Delk.
You can make a case for Murray and Monk, maybe even Rex.
If it’s one shot, Lamb is easily our best shooter of all time.
Even Fitch can make a case, maybe our 2nd best consistent shooter, and was good at everything else.
It’s almost role an 8-sided die to pick one of those.
But I suppose not knowing if we have the ball, I might go with Meeks

This is basically the classic “does clutch exist?” question. He did hit some memorable shots in huge moments, but those were ultimately still just 3-4 shots in what was otherwise a somewhat average career. To say that he’s a shoe-in for the hypothetical would basically be saying you believe he possessed some near magical trait that makes him a better shooter with the game on the line. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to disagree with that theory.

As for my lineup it would probably be:
PG: Tyler Ulis: A true “coach on the floor” who rarely made the wrong play, was a relentless defender, and also an underrated shooter.

SG: Jodie Meeks: He spent his career playing on some pretty bad teams by our standards, but may be one of it not the best perimeter scorers we’ve ever had.

SF: Jamal Mashburn: One of the contenders for overall most talented players to ever suit up for us and had the production to match.

PF: Dan Issel: These last two might have been the toughest positions for me to pick because some of the most dominant players in our history were interior players. I totally get the arguments for Walker here because he was dominant. Even though it’s hard to compare eras, I just couldn’t go against the man who remains both our leading scorer and rebounder though.

C: Anthony Davis: Dominant defensive player who can switch onto just about anyone on the court in a pinch and at least won’t hurt you on offense with his offensive rebounding and lob catching ability. I wouldn’t argue with KAT or Cousins in this spot though.

I'd shorten the situation down to a fraction of the shot clock. 15 seconds or so. 1 shot. Everyone is a good FT shooter. You just need 2 to win.

PG Tyler Ulis
PF Dan Issel
SF Kenny Walker
C Karl-Anthony Towns
SG Jamal Murray

Edit: As I thought about it, my plan was to have tough as nails players who will take their shot and have a PG who can quickly get the ball to whoever the defense played off of. I didn't want somebody who'd panic at the responsibility. I was looking for players who when they got a chance to shoot their shot, they took it. But some doubts crept in. Towns is sometimes tempted to play around and go for a better shot. That takes time in case of a miss. So, I'd swap him out and pick Melvin Turpin.

Right. So I’d rather have some of those 6 over Harrison

...the score is either tied or the lead is just one for either team. What five UK players that you have watched play do you want on the floor?

I'll go Kyle Macy, Aaron Harrison, Tayshaun Prince, Scott Padgett and Karl Anthony Towns.
That's a big "no" for me regarding Towns. He missed a free throw against Wisconsin in the last minute, and couldn't guard Dekker off the defensive switch.

I'm going with guys can play at least tolerable defense off defensive switches, and also guys who are competent on offense.

Give me:

G - Fox
G - Delk
G - Liggins
F - Prince
C - Davis

That's four elite defenders, with Delk who was competent defensively. Almost went with Mashburn at the 4, but I hate his defense. Prince gives you a scorer and also a guy who can lock someone up.

Of course it exists. As does the opposite...the yips. Would you have wanted the Cowboys kicker attempting a 40-yard field goal down two with three seconds left?

You want a point guard who can hit free throws with your season on the line...like Kyle Macy.

You want a wing with a few game-winning notches on his belt, like Aaron Harrison and Scott Padgett.

You want a big with no fear of making the big play on either end, like Prince.

And you want a player you can throw it to inside who can either score or make foul shots.. like Towns.

Good line-up if we're protecting teh one point lead...lacks offensive punch if we've got to have a bucket for the win

They're good enough. Prince was clutch at UK. Delk was our second greatest offensive weapon for 20 years following probation (behind Mashburn). Fox can get his own.

At the very least, these guys are forcing overtime and if you try to find a mismatch, they're switching everything and doing is at the most elite level. Liggins and Prince are taking your top scorers out of the game. Davis is obviously Davis. Fox is not letting his man get past him.

This is a tough pick, because you could go so many directions and still pick a winning combo. Right now, gun to my head, I think I’d go with:

Pg: Aaron Harrison
Sg: Tony Delk
Sf: Jamal Mashburn
Pf: Dan Issel (this was the toughest for me, Sky Walker & Antoine Walker were my other two picks here)
C: Anthony Davis (or Bowie in his prime) but Davis gets the nod

Macy. He won’t make a mistake.
Sky. Get it to him on the block and he’s gonna score or get fouled.
Mash. His inside/outside ability allows him to potentially take advantage of any matchup.
Bowie. Best passing big man in the program’s history.
Delk. Money.
Can't believe Bowie was a bust. He was before my time, but I hear was so skilled. Why was he so bad in the NBA. Not being an ass just wondering your thoughts. Maybe the feet

Fox/Ulis-toss up
Fitch-Because he was as clutch as anyone I have ever seen
Mashburn
K. Walker
Davis
I loved me some ulis.... Is he coaching anywhere. If not he needs to. Might be able to teach cal how to run an offense. I swear I saw him coaching while he was here. He would call a time out and huddle the guys up then coach. Cal would just stand there and smell his fingers and watch.
