Kentucky is now making a move with Class of 2017 Ohio State quarterback commitment Danny Clark of Akron (Ohio) Hoban. Here's the story as I know it:

Kentucky offered Clark when he was but a sophomore in high school. Ohio State accepted his commitment very early in his recruitment. He's a pro-style kid with some mobility, somewhat similar to Drew Barker in terms of his ability to run versus his desire to pass.

I will tell you that at one point there were questions about how good this kid was. But everything that I've read about the kid (I haven't seen him myself) is that he had a very strong summer and his forecast seems to be as favorable as its been in a long time. He's a big left-handed kid and I'm hearing that several other schools have been reaching out to him lately.

Earlier, Clark maintained that he was going to be firm with Ohio State regardless of who they bring on board. They accepted another commitment from 2017 quarterback Tate Martell, one of the nation's top quarterbacks, and their depth chart looks very good moving forward. Some Ohio State folks have speculated that he could, hypothetically, be asked to grayshirt, but that is not an imminent possibility and I have no reason to believe that's their plan.

As of right now I believe Clark is the most likely option to fill out UK's 2017 quarterback class. I don't think Mac Jones is off the board yet, but I do think Kentucky wants somebody who is going to be decisive and I don't know how long they're going to wait. I haven't been shy in saying that I think highly of Jones. I do think he's a very good player. But Clark is a three-star (5.7) himself and Urban Meyer accepted his commitment for a reason.

When it comes to the running back position they will not take another commitment. Some have wondered what might happen if there's a transfer, if Boom leaves early, etc., but I think they're looking pretty good with Snell, Rose, Koback and Sihiem King, at the very least, all having multiple years remaining.

Kentucky did show defensive end/Jack Jordan Wright a good time. I think UK is right up near the top of his list. Not sure exactly what his leader board looks like but I'm told UK would be on his very short list if he were deciding today. The question I've been asking recently is whether he's a Jack or a defensive end. I really couldn't tell you and I am pretty confident that they wouldn't want to take another Jack and risk spooking Alex King. I'll let you know if I hear more about what position UK is specifically targeting him for.

Miami receiver commit Kevaughn Dingle didn't visit this weekend but I'm hearing he's still planning to visit Kentucky. UNC receiver commitment Ryan Jones wants to officially visit Kentucky and although I can't remember if I've posted this before, I'll mention that he was apparently kicked off his high school team and I think they would also have to see how the academic picture shakes out.

A source on the ground told me that Bryant Koback is going to be out for about four months but he should be fine to enroll early, and right now his camp is planning on being up at Kentucky early to rehab if he's not 100-percent by that time. So that's looking good.

Zalon'tae Hillery could still be an option at offensive tackle although I haven't heard much about him lately. I do think JUCO OT Kelby Wickline is a very real option. He doesn't seem to want to go public with comments right now, though, so I'll try to get up with a coach or someone close to him. Thayer Munford is still someone UK is working on, from what I've heard, but I couldn't tell you who his favorite is right now.

Brendan Bordner is probably the Ohio recruit that has the most interest in Kentucky right now. The 2017 defensive end had a really good trip to Kentucky. But I don't think they're giving up on Danny Davis or Lynn Bowden either.
