96 over 11
93 over 10 (assuming the game is played in March)

15 over 98
12 over 03

96 over 93
12 over 15 (in double OT)

96 over 12

'96 over '11- just a better team
'93 over '10- tough game but I still just think '93 was a better overall squad

'15 over '98- man, this is a tough one, '98 had good guards, could shoot, a terrific stretch 4, two NBA bigs, a do-it-all 3-man and a TON of good experience
'12 over '03- much better team

Watched the first 5-10 minutes of the 96 team v. UMass you Youtube last night. Looked like a bunch of high school kids with the way they would pass and bring the ball up the court. The current team would crush them, and it wouldnt be close.

Here is the latest bracketology.

Pick:

One 8/9 team you'd like to play and one 8/9 you'd rather avoid.

One 4/5 team you would like to play most and the one 4/5 you'd least like to play.

Which 2 seed would you want and which one 2 seed you'd like to avoid.

Which 1 seed from the other side would you rather play in the title game?

My kind of post. Good job, Cawood.

1. I want Xavier. I don't want Texas.
2. I want Maryland. I don't want Louisville.
3. I want Kansas. I don't want Wisconsin
4. I would prefer Gonzaga for the title.

Wodie..

Trust me. Ever since she broke the news to me last night I've reviewed countless options in my mind.

She's leaving around 3:00. Probably start a fire and crack número uno around 3:15. Watch hoops. Crack frosty. Rinse repeat. Blast tunes via wireless speaker as I shower and get ready for the evening. She hates my taste in music so gotta take advantage.

See if I can't find a wingman for Hoots on Dutchman's for a pregame early dinner around 5:00. Post Hoots take it to St Matt's for the game. Postgame maybe hit up Gerstle's for a few pops. Hear some live music. Call it quits around midnight.

Yeah, Montreal and Toronto are the tits bud. Be a great get away this weekend. Get away from all this warm weather and such.

K, it was 'MEH I GUESS HA I GET IT SOMEWHAT CLEVER TROLL ' at first but now it's played out.

I want to play XU, so we crush them. Program has gotten real uppity last few years. Nice 25-30 point beat down is just what they need.

Frankly I wouldn't mind giving NKU a shot as a 16 seed too. Not that they deserve it, but they're another program that's starting to get a little too big for their tiny britches. Wax them by 85, I'd be cool with that.

A buddy of mine has a yearly "stag" winter weekend group that travels to cold locales. There is no skiing, they just make trips to cities that are really cold in the winter.

They used to go to warmer spots. But, once they were married, the wives started to weasel their way into their trips, so they started "icing them out."

Now, none of their wives ever want to tag along and they have a blast.

Pretty obvious some of you haven't actually watched the beginning of the UMass game in a while, the current team has never looked that bad on offense for that long of a stretch. I know that everything is better in the past and all, but the '15 team beats the '96 team by double figures.

At least Adrian is looking to experience something more than tiki bars and all you can eat buffets. If I read one more post from him describing the local 'culture' of some 3rd world resort island as if it's remotely relevant I'll snap.

Absolutely love Jay Wright and if you aren't on board w/ that guy and his baller offensive system you're pretty much an idiot and I have nothing for you.

By rule we won't get Texas in the 8/9. Can't face an earlier opponent until the sweet 16.

Agree with you on X. Also give me San Diego State. No thanks to Michigan State or West Virginia.

Give me Maryland or Baylor. No thanks to Louisville, ever. Enough of that crap. Would rather stay away from Wichita State too, but I know it's coming.

Give me Arizona. No thanks to Wisconsin, who should be a clear cut #1 seed if they win out. That would be some 2010 WVU horsepussy if that were to go down.

And that doesn't mention the 3 seeds - Iowa State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma - all of whom give me more cause for concern because of their style of play.

...on the 2nd day we got a cab ride through the village where the citizens had arranged surplus WWII metal boxes that had been dumped on the mainland into charming cottages. We stopped for lunch at a temporarily-out-of-service filling station where charred dog was on the menu. Urine was the perfect compliment to the local delicacy. After our meals we settled the $0.05 tab and headed back to the resort fulfilled by this adventurous jaunt into the old town.

Toronto just sounds really cool to me...as does Montreal and all it's French influence. You wanna roll with, Robby? I'm sure Amy would be down.

-Few things make me happier than over-the-top great customer service. Just ended a 54:17 phone call w/ Hyatt Passport -- super complicated issue that I'd tried/failed on 3 previous calls this week, where I was told flatly, even by supervisors, that what I wanted could not be done - those Phone calls lasted about 5 minutes each. This hick did all sorts of shit, manipulated the system, called the hotel directly, and got everything worked out. Had her transfer me to a superior to pass along the great experience, something I typically do when something like that happens.

-Here's a good little GYERO Poll/Topic:

Andrew Harrison
Aaron Harrison
Devin Booker
Tyler Ulis.

^ you get to pick TWO (2) to come back next year, who are they? Of course, be mindful of who we have coming in. I realize someone like Newman committing later could completely change your take, but for now, base it on who we FOR SURE have coming in next year.

Pretty damn tough, and as much as it pains me to say it given my love for Ulis ----> Gimme Aaron Harrison & Booker, and I'll trust Briscoe & Hawkins to handle the PG duties.

(Newman committing would probably change mine to Ulis & Booker)

.

Give me the Harrisons. Both of them. They win games and have a proven track record.

Basically playing the waiting game with Travelocity right now. Supposed to fly up to Detroit tomorrow, but not going anymore. If I cancel now, get hit with a $200 rebook fee from airline and lose hotel room fee. But if I wait, hopefully they cancel flight, then I can get full refund...waiting game.

Booker without any question and it's tough between a 3rd year Andrew and a second year Ulis.

8/9
Do want: Iowa
Don't want: West Virginia

4/5
Do want: Maryland
Don't want: Louisville

2
Do want: Villanova
Don't want: Wisconsin

1 seed
Do want: Gonzaga
Don't want: Virginia

The only way Wisconsin isn't the #2 in Cleveland is if they get the #1 in Houston. Could happen if they win out and Duke or Virginia drop a few.

Every Wildcat wins a lot. Unless you wanna give An credit for what his brother has done. He isn't quick enough or mentally tough enough, at this point, to be favored over Booker, Aa or Ulis.

If I had to pick two of the three it would be Booker and Ulis. I can't believe I am typing that but TU and DB have great chemistry, the assist/turnover ratio is
eek.r191677.gif
. We won't need game winning shots with those two getting a lot of run next year with more experience.

I just treated it as An vs Ulis and Booker vs Aa.

-Ulis & Booker. It's their show next year.

-96>12>93>97>11>13 Premature to rank this team. Long way to go.

-Does any one in Ky have heat? Geez. May be working all night.

-WINTER!!!! up to a balmy 9 degrees.

The only worry about Ulis next year would be bigger guards exploiting his size like they have some this year. But his offense and scrap more than make up for any of that and such.

Booker and Ulis in a walk.

Though one of the biggest reasons our defense has been otherworldly this year is because the Twins have improved greatly on that end and no James Young.

Attire for Saturday:
mbb15_0220_uniforms.jpg

As one jersey goes into the Rupp Arena rafters on Saturday for Tony Delk's jersey retirement, the current Wildcats will don a new jersey for their game against Auburn.

Kentucky is one of eight teams - and one of just six men's teams - selected by Nike to wear its new Hyper Elite uniforms. The Wildcats will wear new uniforms on Saturday that fuse progressive, premium materials with school heritage.

The uniform will feature a white base with blue lettering and a 26-degree speed graphic of an evolved checkerboard across the side of the game shorts. The 26-degree angle of the graphic was inspired by the chevron on the classic Nike Windrunner track jacket that debuted in 1978. The graphic represents a distinctive basketball point of view, based on the roughly 1,000 directional changes, or "cuts" that a player might make in the course of a game.

Ulis and Booker (even with OR without Newman)

With those two running around with extended minutes there won't be much of a need for game winning heroics. Shit will be right from the get-go.

Spacing will be better with peeps being put in better positions to be successful and the ball IQ would be exponentially high.

Most importantly:

...

...

We'll be a legitimate fast break machine once again and the team's PPG will be up considerably, IMO. The game will come much easier for all and it will be beautiful to watch*

*if Booker declares I will be selfishly crushed as it could be UK's best 1-2 backcourt of my lifetime, IMO. I realize we're undefeated and chasing history etc with this team currently but a backcourt of those two next year could be special. /dickiev

8/9 Team

Yes: Temple
No: Texas

4/5 Team

Yes: Butler
No: Northern Iowa

2-Seed

Yes: Villanova
No: Wisconsin

1-Seed

Virginia

- Ulis and Booker.

a) Booker is the best player and has the highest upside of the quartet.
b) He and Ulis play the best together.
c) Briscoe gives us a big PG so that alleviates any Ulis matchup problems, while allowing Ulis to contain any lightning quick Napier types.

- Went with some Tom+Chee for lunch. Keepin' it Catholic.

- I hate how liberal sportswriters are. Just listened to Parrish's podcast discussing Gonzaga as a 1-seed.

* It's not their fault their conference is bad.
* It's not their fault some of the "bigtime" teams they scheduled turned out to be duds.
* They shoulda/coulda/woulda beaten Arizona.
* You can't count their many NCAA flops against them. It's not fair :(
* Went ridiculously out of their way to justify their "big" wins. "Well, they beat a St. Johns team who beat Seton Hall who blahblahblah...". And then my favorite- "They're the only team who beat UCLA at Pauley this year!!!"

Look, in a normal year, yeah, they may be a 1-seed. But this isn't a normal year. There are 6 teams with strong claims, and you know what- you need a better GD win than St. Johns or Georgia. And YES, I, as a guy wanting the four best, most deserving teams on that first line, do take into account history. We all saw how good that Wisky team was last year in March- same team. They really wanted Duke on that second line over Gonzaga- with road dubbs against Wisky, Louisville and Virginia!
