THE golf thread

Regarding Tiger:

No, he will not tie or break Jack's record, I do however believe he will win another major at some point.

He will break Snead's record.

It's way too early to write the guy off completely. Unless he physically can't do it (which could be possible) or mentally he truly never gets beyond the yips (if in fact it is the yips) I easily can see him coming back and competing and winning once or twice a year. He also has a young son who he will want to play for and with which I think could keep him motivated in his mid 40's.

Would be great if he broke down and called Butch. I see today where for the first time Butch opened that door and if im Tiger I walk my ass through it. Even if it's just for the confidence factor it could bring, you have to talk with Butch and get that relationship back going.

In a report for GolfWorld, Golf Channel Insider Tim Rosaforte spoke to Harmon, who admitted he would be willing to give Woods his opinion, which is more than he's ever offered since their split in 2002.

Writes Rosaforte: "What made this conversation different is that in the 13 years they've been apart, I've never heard Butch say that he would be willing to help Tiger. But at The Floridian for a member-guest, working with [Rickie] Fowler before the tournament started, Harmon opened the door a crack.

"Tiger probably wouldn't ask," Harmon said. "At my age, 71, I'm kind of on the end of my run anyway. If he wanted, I'd be more than happy to spend a couple hours and give him my opinion. I don't think he would ask because it goes against his pride."

Harmon would talk to Tiger

Not sure, but Justin Thomas looks to be the real deal.
Agreed.

Tiger is basically done. He is 38 with major health issues, and now he has the chipping yips. Since he got off the juice, it's been all down hill.

Jack stayed healthy and won his last major at 46 years old, no way Tiger is competitive at 46,and that is just 8 years from now.

Kid Rock hit balls at Tiger's house? Ok.

It appears as though we have officially exhausted the list of golf pundits who have something to say about Tiger Woods and have thus arrived at a most unlikely source for insight - Kid Rock

Included in a new Rolling Stone profile, entitled for now

At least Rock surrounded himself with some decent coaches. Per the piece, "he recently got some pointers at the range from Nicklaus himself, and he hit balls at Tiger Woods' nearby house.

"Nice kid," Rock told Rolling Stone, referring to Woods. "A little bit of an Eminem and Axl Rose syndrome. Very reclusive, literal, and sometimes you feel a little bad for them. Sometimes they think the world's against them. You gotta loosen up, man! People are gonna talk s---. You just gotta enjoy it!

So it's not the back, and it's not the yips, but it is mental. It's Axl Rose syndrome?

^ Yeah, it's not quite the same. Props to getting in better shape, but bring back the hair at least. And DEFINITELY don't stop dipping.

I forgot to watch and turned in on just when Berger put it in the water in the playoff. And it figures that the first week I officially give my allegiance to Fatrick he goes double, bogey, bogey on the Bear Trap to shit the bed.

Notah Begay says Tiger is 50/50 for the Masters, which makes me think he will play. I think it would be a big mistake for him to play the Masters without getting in at least 1 tournament in between and he has exactly 1 day to commit to Houston. If you have the yips, and he does, you just don't come back to Augusta National after a long layoff to test them. If you're smart you go to Houston and test them there and try to gain some confidence.

I also think some think this problem will just go away because it's technique or because its Tiger Woods. I honestly think he can work his way through it but it will now always be on his mind, which obviously will make certain situations on the course that much harder. This actually may be something that makes him step away from the game for a real extended period of time and not just a few months. Plenty of damage has been done to his mind for various reasons through the years but he could really set himself back further if he goes to Augusta and the yips pop up. It's one thing to feel like there gone at your home course and then coming back to Augusta National and testing it. It will be interesting to see what he does but im thinking the next time we see him, we will still see the yips.

I agree... Don't go to Augusta without a warm up tournament.... I would almost bet my clubs if he does go without a warmup he will withdraw rather than sign for a 92.

Don't think he will withdraw, who knows maybe he will cheat again at Augusta, wouldn't be the first time.

I think Tiger needs to swallow his pride and just keep playing in tournaments, missing cuts, until he either finds his game or he doesn't. I would respect that more. Duval kept playing and missing cuts, but he kept putting himself out there.

1 week to The Masters. Tiger or no Tiger, one of my favorite Majors. Time for a Masters thread.

Still a crappy weekend but at least it gave me a reason to watch sports again this weekend and pull for someone. Glad this one came out right. With as hot as he is in the last 2 months I think he has a real chance at The Masters.
