Time is slipping away. They really need to be in camp preparing for a July 1 start by no later than this coming Monday. Both sides of these greedy bast***s are no closer to a solution than they were three months ago. Hockey, NBA, MLS, Nascar, PGA they found a way to start. Baseball not a chance. I think this might be the beginning of the end of America's grand old game.

They will figure something out.

At the end of the day, it's in the owners and players best interest to play the season.

Maybe take a year off baseball and people will miss it and not complain about 8 month seasons.

I honestly can't believe that both sides are willing to piss a whole season away by arguing about whether billionaires and millionaires should take a pay cut for playing less than half a season.

That being said, they pissed away a whole season back in the 90's over money too. Greedy bastards.

It used to be my favorite sport. After the last strike I realized it was taking a lot of my time and now I can't even set down to watch a few innings. MLB best get back to work or people won't care about them soon.

Honestly....pro sports are so politicized now I don't want to watch. I want you to entertain me by throwing a ball. I don't care what you think about Trump, Biden or anything else. I only want to watch you play sports.

They lost me in the 1994-95 strike. I’ve been on strike from them ever since.

It's the only Pro Sport I like (I think the Reds are a Pro Team) and I miss listening to them on the radio but with Marty retired not sure how much I would listen anyway. Honestly, I haven't missed sports at all since they shut down, football can disappear from the face of the earth, especially the NFL and I wouldn't miss it. Same with the NBA, horrible to watch and haven't cared for years and getting less interested in NCAA BB since it is getting impossible to watch with the flops, excessive fouls etc.

I assure you that you can still watch sports and not worry about politics. Maybe some people don’t care for players wearing “I Can’t Breathe” shirts. Now I can’t relate to that, but I remember Louisville wearing “heart over hype” shirts and then kicking their asses on the court. Sure I could’ve gotten upset, but the on court product was great. Competition isn’t going to cease to exist, and that’s why we watch right?

Personally, I didn’t agree with Drew Brees’ comments on protests, but I feel no different about him. I don’t know Drew Brees so there’s no reason for me to get mad about it. I also don’t know LeBron, so while I agree with his message, it’s not the same connection as when my wife and my friends express their views. I’m a fan of LeBron and I might take a second to read and like his posts, but it doesn’t go much further than that. Another example, apparently the Bosa brothers are big MAGA supporters. Of course that let’s me know they’re idiots, but it has zero effect on what they do on the field. I still want to watch them play because they are good at football. They could both get on Twitter today and say “I hate black people”, and I would tweet at them and call them racist pieces of shit. But if their games were on TV I wouldn’t turn it off just because they are playing. All the people that said they were boycotting the NFL because of the kneeling weren’t actually NFL fans. They were just self righteous assholes who watched football on Sundays because “that’s what you do in America”.

1. MLB
2. NFL
3. College football
4. Tennis
5. College basketball
6. NBA

that’s how I’d rank them. I love UK basketball but I don’t watch any games we don’t participate in. I can watch any MLB game, absolutely love it

A more worrisome development for me is hearing today that some Alabama and Auburn football players have tested positive. That is not good, folks.

The players are really screwing up. Arguing over money for a stupid game when millions are still out of work.

Of all the sports this one is the easiest to do under COVID. You are outdoors, no one is close except for the base runners, catcher (who is wearing a mask so how much harder to have a decent COVID type mask underneath, same for the Umpire, etc. Basketball and football may be in trouble with the close contact but Baseball??? These players and owners may end a professional sport. Plus to be clear, I am not a fan of baseball anyway, so not an agenda post.

Disagree with your assertion regarding nfl fans and the boycott.

There is a time and a place to express your opinion. Work, and the NFL is work, is not the place.

IF kapernut felt he'd been wronged he could have gone on Oprah, GMA, CNN, etc.....they'd given him a platform. But he didn't want to do that.

IIRC, the NFL has specific guidelines on what the teams do during the pre-game. But what really lost it for me was when the five cops in Dallas were shot and the Cowboys weren't allowed to put anything on their uniform recognizing this. YET kapernut could wear pig socks.

That's when I left the National Fellons League.

Then you were never a fan of football to begin with. Like I said, it’s about the competition. You choose to care more about the drama than the actual sport, so there’s no way you can convince me that you were ever a fan. You choose to be offended instead of choosing to understand the perspective of others. Couldn’t be me.

Why is someone not a fan because they don't want politics with their sports? I don't care what professional sports players opinions on politics mightn be. I don't care what actors, musicians or any other entertainers politics might be either. The vast majority of these types couldn't find their own voting precinct on a bet.

I was watching the Cincinnati Bengals when you were still crapping yellow. I started watching in the early 80s and watched all through the David Klingler, Akili Smith and David Shula years all the way to the point that the Bengals gave away the playoff game to the Steelers with Pac-Man Jones and Vontaze Burfict. I wasted more time watching them then I care to admit. Every televised game for as long as I can remember. I quit watching after that because if you can't win that playoff game, you'll never win.

The kneeling and all of the sanctimonious crap does nothing to bring me back. You are right....I'm not a fan now because the product sucks. Just play your sport and realize nobody cares about the opinion of profeessional athletes that are barely old enough to buy beer in some instances.

You mean Brees comment about simply his respect for the American flag? His personal opinion. That he was forced to retract and say “he is the problem”?

nope that’s not even what happened. All he did was apologize and acknowledge that the protests were NEVER about the flag. And you know what I don’t get about you Frank? You’ve apparently watched The Wire, but learned absolutely nothing from it.

Some people can admit that their personal opinions were wrong or flawed, some can’t. Brees isn’t part of the problem, and it seems like he’s been forgiven.

Why? LeBron doesn’t live in China as far as I know. I’m of the opinion that no one should be required to speak on anything. There have been plenty of white athletes who spoke on an American political event who didn’t speak on China’s events. So why do you have a problem specifically with LeBron?

They need to just scrap the season at this point, pay all the players league minimum and defer all contracts one year like the season never existed.

Well, I see you're an open minded soul.......hope you can detect sarcasm.

I agree. They are athletes and no one should care what they say. Some people just think lebron is a sellout for not commenting on China when people are being murdered. He considers himself Mr political and likes to talk.

LB dosen't speak out on China because of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. He is a believer in socialism. Why dosen't he and others speak/ march in the streets about the daily killings that go on in our major cities EVERY DAY? The plight of the black community is not the police's fault...it is the fault of the party you vote for! And you hate the Potus ...maybe you should do a little research on his programs.

I really like baseball, but I feel like baseball has been trying to commit suicide for years, pace of play slows down every year, way too many relief specialists with way too many pitching changes, style of play turns people off, unless you want 40% of all at bats to be a K, BB, or HR, i.e., ball is never in play.

And now, they can't even figure out how to get restarted when they are literally the only game in town. Pitiful.

Pretty sure we will have baseball, it just may be the 48 game season minimum. Owners and players playing chicken with each other.

That sucks too - about like playing a 4 or 5 game season in the NFL, what is the point?

In my view Pop was on target and an excellent view. I just don't understand anymore why if you are a Republican you feel that means you have to support Trump? How many ridiculous things that he has done, the turn-over, the stupid comments, the divisiveness that he has created finally have someone no matter their party end support? So a sports figure or multiple people post cogent opinions but the guy who only posts put-downs and calls everyone stupid is the guy we are still supposed to support?

To me the crazy people are in charge and if we had intellegent common sense leadership than we would have sports and other activities return sooner and safer.
