But somebody has to hold the mirror.

It is time for team leaders to rise and hold teammates accountable.

And an unintended complexity of the portal is likely some hesitation of “upper class men” who’ve just been made a part of the program to assert that leadership.,

Well, tough titty!!

Either a team rises or a team sinks, together!!

Who steps to the plate when the going gets tough?

If anyone has ever heard Ray Davis speak on any of the post-game shows, the team needs more guys like him and less of the show-boating, under-performing hotshots that seemingly got high on all their unwarranted praises heading into the season. This team has an attitude problem in that we have a bunch of dudes who think they're God's gift to football but they can't back it up with their play. They want to get chippy or 'edgy' or whatever you call those foolish penalties instead of letting their game talk for them.

I agree that leadership is one of the biggest problems on this squad. However, I'm afraid the problem may not be a lack of leaders, but quality of leaders. Based on how they behave, it looks like thuggish immaturity is the personality that has developed followers. Idiotic penalties and behavior have become defining traits.
How would a Cash Daniels fare on this squad?

You mean like most of Wide receiver group ??? They pose well for pictures .

Since you brought him up lets not forget Stoops neutered this amazing football player as well .. he benched him for a play in which Daniels denied tweaking the QBs ankle (whether he did or not is not really important ) .. He failed to have Cash's back and Daniels played 3/4 speed the rest of the year . Football isnt for nice guys .. Guys willing to get bloody >>>>>. the teams that go 6-6 or whatever and lack leadership

"Team leaders" are an extension of the HC!!! When your HC ALLOWS the DUMB penalties, smack talk, chippy crap, late hits, pushing and shoving after every play and mouthing off to refs, how can a player take control of his team mates during the game?

This is ALL on Coach Stoops and his staff!!!

Agreed! The “staff” is the first problem. They need to get their stuff together before you let the team on the practice field. This “staff” has let the players embarrass themselves, our program, and have made a joke of themselves.

It ALL starts in practice!!! There has to be a STANDARD set that we are going to play DISCIPLINED football!!! It all comes down to ACCOUNTABILITY!!!

There has to be punishment for unforced errors in practice so they don't happen in games!!UK Football has to play clean because we don't have as much talent as most of the other teams in the SEC. STUPID mistakes get you KILLED against the better teams AND give the teams you are equal to an advantage also!!!

Coach Stoops played for Hayden Frye who built Iowa football on that standard. WHY does he allow it on his team???!!!! Heck, paint the opposing locker room pink, but play with discipline!!!!

Stoops has become a Kentucky politician instead of a football coach. Say whatever to keep your 9 million a year job,
He's been that way from day one ... all about the money. Not near as bad as Mumme was, however.

Yeah, we have over paid politicians and snake oil salesman coaching both the basketball and football teams. Unfortunately, both are content to count their millions $$$$$ and blame the fans for poor performance. I will say it again...their base contracts should be limited with incentive bonuses for performance.

Stoops is the only person that needs to look in the mirror!!!

Players change, Assistants change, and the sloppy undisciplined play continues.

It all flows to him - he is not holding players and assistants accountable. I don’t see practice but it is impossible that this stuff isn’t happening in practice.

The last sentence says it all!!! The buck always stops at the top. Till he changes it won't change.

Maybe the coaches have their team meetings at Jeff Rubys. Stoops like to hang out there. Kind of results to be expected.

Precisely the group I envisioned while typing that message out. I recall one of them, maybe Key, doing a little taunt after picking up a meaningless first down as we got reamed by Georgia and thinking it’s the perfect encapsulation of what’s wrong. All show, no substance.

It was the right decision. Was definitely a dirty play. But those were the days where stoops had a culture of discipline that he just let lapse. Take the Jager play - he didn't even come out of the game.

Take childress being selfish last week and never getting pulled. Take brown and wrs constantly dropping balls and running out of bounds.

Reinstall the blue collar approach and accountability. Sit guys that need to sit. Play guys that deserve to play, regardless of ranking.

I'm not is disagreement with some form of punishment for K Daniel. Not at all , he committed a dirty play ( like that never happens in football , insert huge ass eye roll) But my memory is clearing , not only did Stoops bench him for the first Q , he took away his captains role and didnt left him be part of the seniors that went out for coin toss .. AFTER Stoops took up for Kash in the media in the days following the game . IMO he should have handled it internally and not publicly flogged the guy . He took a VERY intense LBer who got by on grit , desire and meanness and turned him into Mr Rogers . You cant do that to Linebackers who you want knocking the others teams QB goofy . He neutered him . It was a terrible move

It all starts with Barney stripping our coaches of incentive by giving them Cush contracts. This team is so disorganized and undisciplined it’s too late in the season to correct. We peaked with this coach and he knows it or he wouldn’t be begging for nil money.

Agree with 2nd and 3rd statement. But for the 1st statement, I'd say Stoops needs to be the FIRST person to look in the mirror. That is what a leader would do (or dongoneit, someone that doesn't have enough confidence lol). BUT, the rest of the staff AND the players need to look deep too.

After the Georgia game, I don't see how we played so sloppy and uninspired against Missouri. They were outcoached and outplayed, we should beat teams that we have out recruited the last 4 years and they are the players we are playing against. I don't know if Missouri's players are coached up or ours were overrated but they made us like it last week. Missouri has been wanting to stick it to us for a while with the last several games and us winning the ways we did. But still this was at home and after the worst beatdown we have had in a while, we looked bad. The staff simply didn't have the players ready to play.

Definitely not true. We came out on fire and was on the way to blowing them out if their essentially hail Mary fake punt didn't work.

This team was more than ready to play. They were definitely not ready to handle adversity. A few things went against them and it all fell apart just like Georgia. That smacks of no/little player leadership. Most of these guys lead by example which won't get it done in situations like this. We just lack strong vocal leaders.

They have to be ready to play for more than a quarter, and they weren't, that's part of coaching, how to handle adversity. they should know how with how many upperclassmen they have on the team.

Facing adversity is a personality trait that coaches can help develop but most of it is on the players themselves especially leadership. Especially so because it's only a handful of key guys that lose it rather than the whole team. Strong leadership wouldn't stand for that.

Now I do agree when those guys lose it, they need to sit. They never do nowadays but that goes back to the whole lack of adjustment to portal/nil post I made days ago

You nailed it.
This team seems to lack guys like De'Andre Square and Drake Jackson that provided strong on field leadership. I guarantee you had they been on this years team we would not have seen these type of melt-downs.

He may have handled it differently had Kash owned up to it and took responsibility. He lied and said his hand was caught. He was lucky it was just a quarter. If that caused him to lose his edge he didn't need to be playing

Please don’t go there…Daniels was not a role model…

Pretty sure the SEC demanded it. That was the worst college football play I have ever seen. I was absolutely ashamed for my program. I would have expected it from UL or Tennessee. That was a beyond dirty play and he should have been excused from the team.
