stoops dismantled his own defense

make fun of them for dink and dunk and then you give them just that

only having 3 defenders within 10 yards of line of scrimmage
That’s what we have done all year. We play soft zone and rally to tackle the ball. It’s really not that different than what we have done all year. Missing McCall and Oxendine in the front 3 is what has killed this defense the last few weeks

Eh, 3 down and everyone BACK UP…….

It was nice putting the defense to sleep all game.

the LBs have not been that far off the ball all year.

The pass rush has collapsed since losing Oxendine.

did the injures keeps stoops from playing more aggressive
We do not play aggressive on defense. Especially in pass coverage. I’m not sure what people think they are watching. This is how Stoops plays on defense. We focus on stopping the run, we play soft zone in the pass game and rally to tackle. We do not play jam or press or hardly any man coverage. Stoops makes the other team execute down the field. No big plays, keep everything in front. Miss St just carved it up. Mike Leach is a terrific offensive mind

First of all, you might want to say Stoops dismantled the offense LAST NIGHT in your original post. No one knew what or when you were talking about.. Second, Last year Stoops dropped 8 and it worked. If you want to say he didn't adjust, I'll agree.

we did not focus on the run the LBs were giving to much ground

Bro we dropped 8 into coverage every play because MState uses the entire field. LBs dropped farther to try to cover the middle of the field. If you try to mug the backers with the zone we play behind it the seams will get destroyed all night. That’s just how we play defense love it or hate it but that’s just how Coach does it

well he didn't

Dropping 8 works real good against Leach when the first of the eight who has a chance to make to make a tackle, actually makes the
tackle.

That is the defense we ran last year, to perfection.

When the first defender misses, not so much.
Correct. It’s the proper way to play that offense we just got out executed

I was embarrassed for Corker, especially. He wasn’t the only one to miss an open field tackle, but he missed at least 5 or 6 and dropped a pick.
Corker was bad last night. One of the worst games I have seen him play at UK

No playing QBs and offenses Capable of exploiting that is what’s killed us. There’s a reason the bets teams don’t play that way

Bad angles, missed tackles, dropped pick and a horse collar penalty. Not his best outing.
He was bad. He definitely wasn’t the only one. Miss tackles against that team and 4 yards turns into 20 real quick

using the entire field on offense what novel ideal

Folks, give Van Hiles a listen on Twitter and YouTube. You cannot go man against this offense. They will eat you alive way worse than what they did last night. Also, our corners aren’t very good. They don’t cover well and they don’t tackle well. We all saw the tackling issue last night. He broke down a play last night where Dort was continuing to drop deep in his zone coverage after Rogers had already started his throwing motion on a quick shirt screen. When you have a 5th year senior making mistakes like that, but still playing, you know you have issues with that position group.

I think Brad White has done his best to protect them this year with a good defensive line. But, losing McCall and Oxendine has really hurt us. We don’t get pressure with our base front now and it’s really exposing our corners.

We need some difference makers at that position next year. Without question.

We have a weak corner that's for sure and a nickel that's off/on. Imo ajian looks way better covering man than anyone not named Valentine.

The under zone guys kept dropping way too deep all night. Left that dump wide open with tons of room. They should've been no deeper than 5-7 yards.

One really bad call by white was sending a blitz on 2nd and long that let them complete a nice throw vs man. No need to blitz there at all because we had them behind the chains.

The run game is what hurt us. Op is right. All we had to do was play the scheme from last year, but they got too cute and out thought themselves.
Uhhh we pretty much played the exact same thing we played last year. We just have no pass rush to speak of and our corners are pretty bad. It’s why we play so soft in pass coverage

Also, leach probably knew we would play soft 8 again and he had his team prepared to the run the football against it

Watching the game on TV I'd see time and again Rogers throw his little dink and dunk and not a UK player in sight, not even in the picture. Think I heard TV say in the 4th Q say something like 80% of their passes had been to their RBs, UK never did figure that out.

Not at all. We went almost completely without dl in the first half. Leach ran the ball at will. Stoops and co were over confident in the notion he just wouldn't run at all.

Last year we stopped the run early and he abandoned it. Probably would've this year too had we cared enough to actually put dl out there.

Putting dl out there takes up blockers and frees up lbrs. Plus we don't exactly have a deep lb room. So I'm not sure what on earth lead them to think this was a good idea
