Good call. Agreed. Combined with exodus from major urban areas due to WFH and I believe this is indeed a relatively safe bet. I may delve a bit deeper.

Have a neighbor who does very well in the business, a very upbeat minority guy started as a driver out of HS, then moved around the country to learn about the business, now in his early 40s, has a fleet of trucks in Nashville, moved away from the chatter, works out of his house, does the selling and accepts the lucrative towing jobs around the country when needed, wife handles most of the rest by phone, and he has a powerful pickup truck that looks like it could tow a rocket ship.

The dividend was good and I thought it was a good buy at the time. Maybe I'm being impatient. I have considered buying more for dollar cost averaging.

If I sell, I would probably add to my ABBV.

Being a less experienced investor I think my biggest issue is patience which is why I am running by some of you guys.

What would you do? I'm leaning towards holding on.

What about TESLA now with a 5 to 1 stock slit coming 8-31-2020? Get 5 for every 1 share owned.

Anyone keen on jumping the shark on them now? Good deal for TESLA and smaller investors? What say you guys? Buy now or wait?

My only caveat to this is that Apple is a little to medium overpriced........Tesla is stupid/crazy/unbelievably/inconceivable/ridiculous/supercalifragilisticexpallidocious overpriced.

Splits don't change whether something is over/underpriced. But Jameslee is correct.....it doesn't make a large difference when you buy in during splits.

Call me crazy but I jumped the shark and bought at $1514.00 on 8-12-20....and close of market today it was up to $1634.43 for a nice gain.

Not sure how long I want to take this bull ride. Paul Mampilly believes it will go up to 2,000 soon and possibly 4,000 in the long term. Whew!! Fun so far.

Anybody else get in on KNDI. The Chinese EV company with a plant in Dallas FW area? Huge gainer last 2 days!

Bought KNDI on 6-11-20 at $3.00 a share...today it closed at $8.82.
Folks might want to take a look at this one. Mampilly recommended this stock too.

This company is bringing 2 poor mans EV's to market here to compete with TESLA. Prices I read about were $13,000 for the sedan and $23,000 for the SUV version. Good range before recharge is needed.

Might be worth your look. Good fortunes to ya!!!

Sorry to jump in. Haven’t been in the general forum in a while and it is interesting to me discussing stocks and markets.

Is your TSLA call long term (to build wealth etc) or to make a quick 5-10% and be in and out?

I bring this up because I was TSLA hater for a while and have finally seen okay numbers. I think long term they have merely scratched the surface and will change the auto industry more than they have already managed to do.

A little bit of both really. Mampilly likes them long term. I try to have strong hands and not sell...but that profit motive haunts me and I have sold too quickly in the past. I am a TESLA believer.

Earlier this year when it went down under $200 I decided to jump in and rode it up to the $700 mark then decided to sell. It did go back down for awhile but quickly rebounded and you see where it is today.

So this time I have decided to see if it breaks that 2K and then 3K barrier. Time will tell and we shall see if Mampilly is right or not. Hold on tight for this ride. BTW this is not money I can't afford to lose so that pressure is not there.

You ought to look into the KNDI stock too and decide for yourself what you think about that investment. They could become the poor mans TESLA!!!o_O;):D Good fortune to ya!!

Been on LULU, NVDA, and CMG for a while. If your a new investor some times buying what you know and like isn’t all that bad if strategy.

Very true. In fact guys like Warren Buffett say that if you don’t know or like it you shouldn’t buy it. If you don’t understand the business, don’t do it. That’s why he’s made billions off Coke, McDonalds, and Banks......but hasn’t bought hardly any tech.

Tesla certainly continues to defy logic. I’d set a stop loss though.....and as the price increases, increase the stop loss behind it. But then again I have one on a lot of my investments.

I think the genius of Tesla is the battery technology itself. They have a really nice solar division as well. Once they start to push more into homes, I think the company will have something.

As far as the auto industry, I think it's a race. The longer that the big auto manufacturers drag their feet, the better for Tesla it is. For example, Tesla sold as many total vehicles (all models) world wide than Toyota sold one model (Camry) in the US last yr. If GM, Ford, Toyota really, really pushed into EV quickly I think it would severely punch Tesla auto sales in the stomach. But they're moving at a snail's pace which is to Tesla's advantage.

I also think that Tesla is missing an opportunity with the truck. The Cybertruck is cool and forward thinking, but it is NOT something that is going to sway the average truck buyer.......a segment which is YUGE in the US. I think this is why Musk has said recently that he's very open to producing a "normal" truck.

“If it turns out nobody wants to buy a weird-looking truck, we’ll build a normal truck, no problem,” Musk told the publication, adding that he realized the Cybertruck could be “a complete failure.”

With Ford and Chevy getting ready to launch EV trucks, I think they should've gone "normal" first and Cybertruck 2nd.

But in any case, I think the future of Tesla will be in it's other ventures outside of vehicles.

And I'm big on Musk in general. I think he has the Midas touch. I AM REALLY EXCITED about potential investing in Starlink. It should start providing service within the next several months.......and the IPO "might" not be too far behind.

I own 5 shares of TSLA. The gurus have a range from sell to strong buy, and every now and then Musk will blurt out “This stock is way overpriced,” so I think a young person should shut out the noise, hope the genius keeps his sanity, and you should make some nice money long term. You can trade it, but I prefer a more predictable stock to do that myself.

As far as EV trucks are concerned take a look at NKLA (Nikola Corp). I bought at $37.62 and it is at $45.40 today.

TESLA also is making their own EV batteries now.

And Musk has a company named BORING that is involved in doing underground tunnels for rapid transit. They have a contract to do their first job in Las Vegas. So you can check that out too.

He is growing an empire involved in much of the future of how America will evolve in the next 5-10 years. A true visionary.

I'd be careful of NKLA. They don't have a product yet. Right now all they're selling is promise.

Musk has a ton of irons in the fire. He's really something. I like the idea of the Hyperloop, but as of right now the company is mainly theoretical and might be hard to get off the ground. Boring also has never mentioned anything about going public.

He's pretty revolutionary. We talked about him a good amount in this thread.......but with this thread being up to 70 pages, I doubt one can find it.....lol.

Keep the information and ideas flowing.......and welcome......

They do have an order for 2500 trucks from Republic for garbage trucks so there is that.
I would agree that they are very volatile and still in the making as they are not a done deal yet....their future is promising though.

Its EV man its EV man!.:cool: Super cool and green, green, green.;)
The future is here now.o_O;)

I missed TSLA but there are plenty of other companies to choose from when that happens. Companies that actually have profits (I realize TSLA makes money now). One of the hardest things to do other that when to buy and sell, is to keep from falling in love with a company. This continues to be one of my hardest lessons to learn personally. It's a great thing when riding that momentum but when it's over it can blind you as well. I suppose hating one is equally as bad if the idea is to make money.

^. JL its not too late for TESLA yet. Jump that shark man.

And don't forget the coming split on 31 Aug. Multiply shares by 5 and lower share rate to buy more shares before it goes up....up..and away.;)

Me too....

BTW. TY for the space X links. Very interesting and hoping they go IPO soon.

Sure thing. We're all waiting. I plan to back up the truck when Starlink goes public. The darn thing will go off simply based off the "Musk Effect" let alone what the business actually does. Those Robinhood Musk freaks will make you a bunch of money for no reason at all.......hehe......

Use trailing stops if you worry too much about the sudden swings down to save your profit.

The articles posted earlier mentioned within the next few years.......other than that, who knows? I think they're looking to start service by the end of this year for North America......see how that goes......slowly add more and more satellites/coverage......and then make a decision to go public. Once a company files for an IPO with the SEC, it usually takes 6 wks to several months to go public......so as long as we continue to look for it, we will have some warning before it goes public.

Welcome. What kind of investor are ya? Into funds? Long term value investor? Or are you into more volatile speculative/gambling type?
