I feel good.........

(Reuters) - Advanced Micro Devices Inc on Tuesday reported record growth in data centre revenue and forecast revenue growth in fiscal 2019 above expectations, sending shares up nearly 7 percent after the bell.

The chipmaker said it expects high-single digit percentage revenue growth in 2019, while analysts were targeting growth of about 6 percent.

AMD's results come as a relief to investors fearing worse performance amid warnings from a host of other chipmakers about a slowdown in China triggered by the ongoing trade dispute with the United States.

Bigger rivals Nvidia Corp and Intel Corp both flagged a stagnating growth in data centre sales, a segment where AMD is beginning to get a foothold on the back of its server chips.

Gross margin rose to 38 percent from 34 percent a year earlier after the company started shipping newer versions of its graphics and data centre chips. The company also said it expects adjusted gross margins to be more than 41 percent for 2019.

Sales at AMD's computing and graphics segment, which includes GPU sales to data centres, rose over 8.5 percent to $986 million (£751 million), beating the analyst average estimate of $939 million, according to FactSet.

From a recent article on Fidelity.....courtesy of Financialbuzz.com

According to data compiled by Mordor Intelligence, the global cannabis market was valued at USD 7.7 Billion in 2016 and is expected to reach USD 65 Billion by 2023. Additionally, the market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 37% throughout the forecast period from 2016 to 2023

In the near future, other states such as New Jersey, New York, Illinois, Connecticut and New Mexico are all likely candidates to legalize cannabis as well. Additionally, some states like Rhode Island, Kansas, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania are all open to exploring opportunities within the industry. On a global scale, Mexico's newly elected President is also pushing for the legalization of cannabis entirely, while European nations Switzerland and the United Kingdom are seeing growing support for legalization as well.

According to ArcView Market Research and BDS Analytics, the global spending on legal cannabis is expected to reach USD 57 Billion by 2027, with adult-use sales delivering USD 38.3 Billion and medical sales accounting for USD 19.1 Billion. "The industry is at about 5 percent of what it will be someday,"

Ky and Tn will probably be the last two states to legalize!

They'll probably be in the last push. The South for the most part will probably be the slowest to turn. But I don't foresee any holdouts. I think once the majority of the states legalize......and/or it's legalized federally......the rest will jump all over it quickly.

Indeed, people here in Tn buying pain pills with cannibis at stores for dogs tells us it’s past time!

Initial AH reaction appears not good on PYPL. I haven't seen the report yet, nor the all important guidance. Went light on PYPL, as I don't know them like I do AMD. Drinks and dinner without dessert!!! lol

I wish I had the amount of money that he has to make all those buys......my goodness is he active......

Haha!! Last May, I sold an oversized investment in one company that I"d held for 10 years, I sat on most all that cash for quite awhile----until the green light went off first week of Jan. and by Jan. 9th I started the buying spree!!

“First glance” seems like selling on the news for PYPL, which I own, could be a buying opportunity. My safe harbor stock, MSFT, disappointed on its cloud platform sales, not good in that hot area, though I only own a little of it.

Looks like NOW turned out a great quarter. lz, seems like NOW would be something you would have in your portfolio.

No doubt! If you ever get down to SWFL, let me know.

Waiting to see what PYPL reports here shortly. Could be dessert with dinner!!
I did have one visit a few years ago to see old friends living at Cape Coral, stayed at Naples, saw an exhibition baseball game at Ft Myers and spent an afternoon at Marco Island...nice, nice area.

I understand. I could collectively sell off portions of my funds......but they've done so well through the yrs that I hate to make the change right now. Especially since we're "supposedly" on the eve of a down market. And since there isn't a supremely clear horse in the pot market........ or the EV market..... or the robotics market......

I guess overall I'm more tortoise than hare......

Yes, just trying to be patient (for once while I have Cash) on prices, even if I miss on some juicy ones. If we didn’t have all the worldly turmoil, I might still be all in, but we can’t get any president to work with any Congress, then there’s this China thing...:weary:

I'm in-between Naples and Fort Myers, in Bonita Springs. Been living here year-round since late 2003. Moving down here was one of the better decision I've made in this winding road called life, lol.

The big spoils go to the "tortoise"! Those 50-baggers generally take "holding-on" through the ups and downs.

The investment that I sold last year was a "must sale". Company got bought out in all-cash deal.

PYPL beat eps estimates, but barely missed revenue estimates and operating margin % was down considerably. The company underwent some big changes within, including buying other companies...could just be a difficult to compare quarter...at least, their long term debt is low, I always look at those things.

I should have repurchased my 1/2 position in FB about then. Hindsight.

Ky is voting on medical this year. If Hemp and Medical give us a boost you are probably correct, but if only medical slows down the OD’s and Hemp isn’t really crushing it then you could see a quicker more pressure packed scenario.

For now though the politicians are certainly hoping for hemp and medical to really succeed.

Another stock I hold, V, just had a solid eps report, hurray!
Actually, not so good, hit ok on eps and rev, but number of transactions were down and operating costs were high that quarter. V and PYPL both down, but MA up after their eps. I still like V and PYPL, maybe an additional buy develops.

Anyone have anything in tetra bio-pharma (TBPMF) penny stock

Having a nice little day so far
We’ve had very few posters here discussing penny stocks, somebody will likely have knowledge.

I coulda, shoulda, woulda Dayton, going crazy upwards today. Wonder what’s so special about their cloud software vs MSFT, which I sold after hours yesterday, MSFT is not a safe harbor anymore at its current price?

Gents, spent past two days glued to monitor watching the action in CRON and APHA. First went long a bunch of CALLS on both Thrusday and wanted to keep close to trigger, lol. Caught a wave and sold half on Friday.

The marijuana sector sure can move when it moves! I am not "invested" in either; just a trade off the technicals.

Sticking with CGC from more of an investment perspective, although will continue to swing trade some of it as the technicals indicate.

The "high" short interest in the MJ sector stocks sure does put yeast on the action. Whew!

Glad you posted, studied some of them, too, yesterday to add to my CGC but need lower price for a maybe on CRON. I’m not an options trader, wish I were, don’t want to put the study into it this late in life!

BTW, here’s one stock that has been blazing lately that my wife wanted in her retirement IRA, RACE, closest we will ever get to owning a Ferrari!:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Unfortunately, it took a year nearly to get back to even, I would have dumped it if she would have allowed me!

Yeah, can understand, lol. Oh, just in case, I am not adding CRON and APHA. Strictly a 1 - 3 day trade. What options are left going into Monday are now a "free roll" until the particular stock tops off and breaks down. CRON in particular looks extended, but I can easily see it up Monday - Tuesday, reaching 23- 24 before reaching this wave'a top. Then, in doing that could trigger an elevated short squeeze that gives a blow-off top up to 30.

Lots of folks went short Friday and will do so again Monday, i.e., predicting and putting money up before a top happens. Have always felt it best to wait until after a stock breaks down first, before taking a short position.
