Still Think Cal Is A Great Coach?

You can't even provide substance. That shows you lack intelligence. I provided evidence that UK (by pointing out two different coaches) would not be where they are today without Cal, or at least made a valid argument. You can't even do that. When has UK landed the talent it has today before Cal? When did it land consecutive No. 1 classes like Calipari has done? Like I said, you're too stupid and naive to talk basketball. However, continue to make yourself look completely foolish. You're good at it.
you keep saying things like stupid and foolish, not intelligent and other things about me. I disagreed with you about Kentucky being the winningest program whoever the coach was. It is true that its possible someone might have passed us but its not a foregone conclusion. I have a right to my opinion that Kentucky, after a couple of questionable hires, especially letting BCG go after a couple of years, would have come up with a great hire as coach. I am happy with the results Cal has had so far. There are several coaches out there with the ability and records to prove it, that could have kept Kentucky on top. I think being Kentucky does help us in recruiting. But I can't know what the outcome would have been, just as you can't. I am sure you will come back with some kind of insulting answer so I will just go ahead and ignore you.

didn't say any coach would be better, but don't you think we would have come up with a pretty good coach? I am pleased with the results we have had with Cal. Thats a pretty good salary,

Who would that coach be?

North Carolina was 4 wins behind us when we played them in Cals first year. There was nobody and I mean nobody who could have been hired that April who could have brought the kind of talent in immediately and start off with a top 5 team. North Carolina would have without a doubt passed us, as would Kansas more than likely. Cal is averaging 31 wins a year and 6 losses. There was no potential candidate available who could have come here and done that. None. There was no candidate who could have took us to 4 final fours. Hell the next closest coach has only 2 the last 6 years. Dude, had we not hired Cal we would have been lucky to get a coach to take us to one final four. You act like its the 50s and the Kentucky name means recruits are dying to come here. Those days are over. Its all about the coach now. Does having the Kentucky brand behind you help? Yeah, but only if you have the right coach. Had we not got Cal he would be on this same run now at Memphis. We got him at the absolute perfect time.

Leaving the on court stuff aside, what coach would give back to the fans and make us fell like part of the program like Cal? None. What coach could market our brand like Cal has done? None. Only because of the way Cal has rebranded the Kentucky brand will we be able to get a top notch coach after him and I got news for you, he is gonna make a lot of people realize how damn good we had it with Cal. Coaches were not lined up wanting to come here in 2007 or 2009. We got turned down by all kinds of coaches. Wake up, Cal is the most perfect fit we've ever had as coach since Rupp.

This thread needs taken out back and shot.

Awful awful thread. Why are the mods letting this garbage stay up?

You're sitting alone on an island. No one agrees with you but the biggest idiot on this board in @CUT-NETS. I only insult you because that's all you seem capable of doing. Once Cal is gone, no one will come close to his production. I'm sure you'll be much happier then.

@JayCatz44 why are you trying to take this topic and run with it? It's like you desperately want this thing to grow some legs and run. This guy thinks UK will always be UK no matter who is there. Who cares? Let's not confine this guy to this single point. There are plenty of other topics you can take and run with. Like Bruce Pearl for instance. He's not some stiff, he's a good coach. Hope he stays at Auburn and continues to help strengthen the SEC.

You and I agree on Pearl.

However, @JayCatz44 is absolutely correct.

And you know this is as well.

Kids come to play for a coach.

The school absolutely adds to the coach's pitch.

@Graves51 is living in the past. Sure we "could" still be a good program but we also could drop as seen by BCG.

And he hasn't mentioned one name that could maintain the success Cal has had that would be a realistic hire.

Outside of PP, Liggins, Young and Orton I'm not sure how many big timers from out of state would have come to UK just because we are UK.

Yes. And the way the players had his back after the idiotic ejection proves it, as does how this team of freshmen, with a sophomore leader has improved since early in the year.

Hard to believe anyone could not see that.
Maybe....the players weren't so uptight knowing Cal wasn't over their screaming and yelling every time they make a mistake.

Their last 6 conference wins have come by an average of 25 points. You're talking like there's been some giant revelation after we were mired in mediocrity. Confirmation bias.

I wanted Sean Miller and he might have done a great job. But he's no Cal.

If anyone refuses to see he's perfect for this job, they simple don't want to see it.
You're right that he's no Cal - he's closer to Self level than Cal right now - Miller/Self get very good/not great results with AAs coming off the bench.

But, Miller is younger than the other coaches he's compared to, and he's only lost to better seeds and/or HOF coaches in the tourney.

I want him next - bet you anything he'll get over that hump at UK.

Maybe but at this point, I hope it's a long, long ways away. I appreciate these ultra-talented teams Cal has assembled. But sure Rick, Tubby and Cal each got over the hump and grabbed the golden ring for the first time. Maybe it doesn't happen this year but it won't be from a lack of determination or heart. Cal's got Tyler Ulis and is as excellent a motivator as the game has today. I love that edge he brings us.

Not with Mitch Barnhart picking the coach... Look how he did with BCG.
It makes me want to vomit when 1 of the most successful athletic directors in Kentucky history, on the job in Lexington now for almost 15 years, is judged only by his worst moment. If you have never had a single decision work out badly, then just wait. It happens eventually to everyone. People who follow Kentucky sports objectively know that MB has been very successful and loyal despite the pounding he takes from ungrateful morons who still insist on pushing your narrative of him. The attacks here on Calipari are equally ignorant. There are always a few in every crowd.

That's not fair BD.

Not everybody here likes MB, doesnt make them ungrateful morons. Some are not thrilled with the football hires or BCG. Some even know him personally and really dont like him...

Cal and MB are not the same.

Because he's not! He's an excellent recruiter who is a "C" bench coach at best. He's stubborn, won't make obvious moves that need to be made and the moves he does make a lot of times hurt more than help.

We will have to have a totally stacked roster to get 9 and even that doesn't give us an overwhelming chance at it.

And to the smartasses, no I don't want him gone because there's nobody else available that's a better option. But he could be so much better than he is but refuses to be out of pride/stubbornness.

Is this a serious post???

stop accepting mediocre and passing it off as great. . One bad moment? Joker Phillips and a massive premature extension for Stoops say it's far more than one major screw up.

Ate you serious? Who the hell do you think came up with that game plan and had this team ready to play? You're no cat fan. You're an idiot.

Giving OP a chance to atone for his sins before we start the NCAA Tournament

I went to bump that terrible "Jamal the black hole Murray" thread but apparently the OP of it deleted it [laughing]
