Clemson, OSU, Georgia and Bama. It's odd how this has played out but I'm very happy with the Pope hire thus far and you can tell the future is very bright.

I just remembered we did beat Florida, who used to be a football school lol.

To be fair, UK plays in the best football conference in the country with multiple blue bloods. Also, the Cats have greatly improved their toughness and grit. Never going to be great defensively but if they played OSU and Clemson again, I think we’d see a much different outcome. UGA is a tough matchup due to their 4 man but with a fully healthy team and better whistle, Cats win that rematch as well.

At the end of tha day, none of this really matters until March 👍 Win some Lose some and hope the team gets better along the way. I still think UK makes some noise in the tournament..

Florida has 3 national titles n football the last 29 years. They have and will always be a football school. Almost any team we beat n the sec is a football school and same with most any team from a major conference ooc.

At this point I am far more concerned about this teams overall physical health, and a bit concerned about their mental health as well.

Carr's injury in particular worries me. The lower back is part of the body's core. If you have ever had a lower back problem then you know how crippling it can be, and how long it takes to get over it. Depending, he could be done for the year in any meaningful way.

Butler's injuries worry too. We are playing him major minutes and that shoulder is a ticking time bomb. I just hope they can get enough treatment on it to keep it from tearing completely.

There are other dings and scrapes here and there as well that could turn into something.

This season seems to be football on the hardwood. I hope they can hold it together until March.

Florida is a football school, but surprisingly they've had their moments in basketball. In the last 25 years (2000-2024) Florida does have 2 titles compared to our 1, and the same number of Final Fours 4. We have 9 Elite Eights to their 8.

Are we satisfied with our basketball team to the point that we're now looking into whether opponents are beating us because they're football schools? :D

"Football school" doesn't mean what it did 30, 20, or even 10 years ago.

The SEC used to be a lot weaker when it came to basketball. That is over. Alabama has a great basketball coach and team. So it's wrong to do the whole "we lost to a football school!?!?!" Alabama will always be a "football school" but they have the best basketball team they've ever had. And it's REALLY good.

Extending the whole SEC is the best it's ever been--College basketball is the oldest and most experienced it's been in my lifetime, maybe ever. Clemson isn't some god awful basketball team. They'll make the tournament. NIL means guys are returning to college rather than going pro and going to Italy as soon as they can. Transfer portal rule changes mean the best players are winding up at power 5 schools.

We're used to the 90's where the rest of the SEC knew they were losing to us. That's not the reality in 2025. We're still very good. Maybe even great. But everyone in the SEC is going to lose some games.

Neither is uk because hasn't vandy beat them several times in the last few years
What point are you trying to make ? Vandy has won 2 out of the last 9 games. Won in 2024 and 2022. UK won 2016-2021 and in 2023. SO NO, they have not beat them SEVERAL times in the last few years. They have beat them twice and lost 7 times. So,,,,,, a big fail by you. The 2 wins by Vandy was 20-13 and 24-21. The last UK wins was 45-28 and 34-17. Nice try though, but fact check before making silly uninformed post.

This is why I get mad when our fans settle for being crappy at football. There are to many football schools that are very very good in hoops now. So why can't our football team get competitive?? That's my beef with this situation

Doesn't bode well for the Vandy game.

A lot harder n football. We are outgunned NIL wise n football. We don't have the money to pay for the talent (specifically depth) that big name sec programs do season after season.

We have one of the best NIL teams money could buy n basketball and that's a big reason we have done better than some thought we would this season.
