Ray Allen was the miss from South Carolina. Pitino took Sheppard instead.

Worked out well for both programs. Allen put UConn on the elite map, and Sheppard helped UK win two national titles.

I would have loved to have had Devan Downey transfer here. He was such a slippery little guy. Hometown of Chester, South Carolina.

Perhaps the most notable game of his career occurred on January 26, 2010, when he scored 30 points in a victory over a previously undefeated University of Kentucky team which aired nationally on ESPN. The game was the first loss for John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, and John Calipari while at the University of Kentucky.

Kentucky has had platoons of players from Indiana, from Cliff Barker and Roger Harden and Tommy Kron, to Mike Flynn, Louis Dampier, Sean Woods, Jim Master, Larry Steele, etc. etc. etc...

It was Mike Flynn. He was from Jeffersonville Indiana. Jimmy Dan Conner was from Anderson Co Ky

You are correct that he was born in Omaha. The list uses locations based on the player's "hometown" though, which is something that can be discretionary based on the person.

Pope is the only representative from the state of Washington, so if we bumped him from Washington to Nebraska, then it would open up the state of Washington for the purposes of this list.

First player from Indiana was 1930, so that one was knocked off a few years ago. First Alabama player was 1943.
