Overall seed list - Kentucky #6 overall

Let me slightly take that back…Norfolk St. is trash and St. Peter’s is fair, which may be enough to give Baylor a slight edge in the region. They will be like 99% to win the first game and we will be more like 93%.

But anyway, we should have a winnable path in front of us, and shouldn’t see anyone on our level until the Elite Eight. Could be much worse.

My biggest fear if they face Purdue or any team after Purdue is Oscar being in foul trouble. Cal is going to have to think long and hard about 2 fouls and you sit the rest of the half. Unless of course if UK can manage to keep it close or there is 5 minutes or less in the half when he gets 2nd foul.

I just don’t think Purdue can guard us. More concerned with Texas and their defense/tempo.

I think we are so used to complaining about the bracket we are seeing things. We have some very winnable games against teams we match up well against. Some will be hard but this isn't the NIT and you have to tougnen up to win it all.

I would be able to possibly give that if it weren’t for the fact that many experts including analytics guys think it’s the hardest road too.

I’m fine with what you’re saying about the analytics, but I’ve seen more people picking Kentucky to come out of our region than any other team. So either way most people I’m seeing think this looks like UKs region.

Purdue is bad on defense.

One sided teams tend to exit a bit early in the tournament.

Reminds me very much of UCLA 2017.

They could definitely go home early. I wasn’t enamored with Purdue at all this year. I just don’t like some of the player matchups and possibly the coaching matchup depending on what Cal does. I’ve watched quite a bit of Purdue this season too so I’m not just throwing it out there.

Although damn the big 10 getting so many teams in is a joke. The media did everything they could do to hurt the SEC and prop the ACC and Big10.

that’s probably a jinx. I mean they’ve hated us for years. Dicky V picked UK I mean….

If UK is favored by more than -3.5 if we meet I would take Purdue. I do not want a rock fight against a 7’4 guy and coaches like Painter who do that for a living and prep in a traditional fashion. Cal ain’t running long it’s going to go vanilla pound pound eventually.

I’m telling y’all. Hope they get put out of this tournament.

Yeah the 7/10 winner is not going to be a brezze.

FWIW people keep saying that Murray St but it could just as easily be San Francisco.

San Fran is current 1 point favorite on KP
Yeah nothing comes easy after the first round regardless of seed.

Well, if we play North Carolina, it’s not until the Elite Eight. And that means we’re playing an 8 seed in the Elite Eight and not a 1 seed. So sure, they’re playing well. But you have to play good teams to go to the Final Four. If that team is an 8 seed North Carolina, sign me right the **** up.

I know Murray is tough and had a great season. But round 2, you want Murray State or a USC/Miami winner? Give me Murray State all day long. If we can’t beat Murray State then we weren’t going anywhere anyway.

Purdue, whatever. Im not saying they’re not good. This is the NCAA tournament, Sweet 16. Everyone is good. I don’t expect any of it to be a cakewalk, we could lose to anyone. But this is not murderer’s row we’re looking at here. If we can’t get through this, we just weren’t good enough anyway.
Beautifully put. Pin it.

I will only add that Baylor, has had a fine season and 2 year run, is a good #1 seed team this year. With the loss of TT at center for the season, that's gotta come back to bite them, I am forced to conclude. They already run a short bench, too. Real thin there. I like our seven vs. their seven right now. Matchup wise, it looks good from Kentucky's standpoint vs. rather say, an Arizona or Gonzaga as our #1 seed?

Sure, they wouldn't want Kentucky embarrassing KU on national TV again this year, so of course, Kansas is on the opposite side of the bracket. We did fine to have Arizona on the other side of the bracket too.

I'm personally very happy to see Kentucky in a region where matchups can be made to work with what we've got. Purdue will actually get up and down and have a flow to the game offensively. We're best when we get up and down. Lethal, even. And it's not like our guys have forgotten to shoot the ball.

If we can't make this Final Four, it'll be a lost cause for the team and fans, a real disappointment to the season, personally. If they got to the elite eight, it leaves just that tantalizing bit leftover to be tinged with disappointment that we "couldn't have done better" - and I don't think we will have that feeling this year.

The guys won't let us down this year. Play like the men they are. Let's get 'er done !

Go Big Blue !

I'm concerned about Baylor.

But we are kind of getting ahead of ourselves I guess lol
Got to get there first but would still take them over the other number ones Zona,Zags and Kansas.I don't think we matchup great with the west coast teams and the revenge factor with Kansas would worry me.

Yeah that's true. Of all the 1s I guess this is the best senario.

Then it makes no sense but I like it. Auburn has a very tough road ahead.
Per KP, we actually have the easiest region. Wisco is by far the weakest of the 3 seeds (34th vs Purdue the next lowest at 14). LSU at 19th in KP is actually the highest-ranked team we could face before the Elite 8.

USC and Miami are certainly both capable of beating us if they play well and we play like we did in the first half against TAMU though. USC only has one good win on the year at home over UCLA and Miami is coming out of an awful ACC so neither of those teams are ones I wanted to avoid. I'd much rather line up with those 2 teams in the 2nd round than other teams that were potential second-round matchups like Memphis, Loyola, Murry State (played us fairly tough at home and have continued to improve), Seton Hall etc.

After an exciting summer of recruiting and some promising performances in the Bahamas what kind of "Kentucky fan" resurrects this thread? One who is not a Kentucky fan at all, but a sad sack seeking to sow discord. On par with the kind of infantile brain that would come up with the moronic acronym Begok.

Odd timing on reupping an older thread

I mean do people just wake up one day and think oh u know that one thread.......I'm going to bring it back up again.

lol not to mention the fact that no insight was even added. Everyone knows on this broad we lost to St. Peters lol.

Onto 2022

We did not take advantage, I say to my younger self. :(

It did seem like a good draw when it was announced lol.

Tho I was going through an older thread where I said "oh St. Peters happens to have a top 25 defense in adjusted efficiency". I can't remember any 15th seeds like that.

On second though guess it wasn't a great draw after all.

I feel like there’s a group of UK fans that are solely here to do damage control for Calipari. And then there’s whatever the opposite of that is. Which is where i group the poster that bumped this. They’re both very strange to me and equally obnoxious.

Probably just like any other fanbase tho. Most are somewhere in the middle but u tend to have your crazies at both extremes lol.

I remember when Kentucky fans touted the past as something to brag about. Now we want to forget it. Just one of the many things Calipari has changed about UK.
So you are telling me you hang on every bad loss we have had over the years. You sound like a blast at parties. I kinda like to forget all the bad loses, Do I like any of them nope. I am ready for next year. Hope we have a GREAT year who ever the coach is of my team. I pulled for them all.

I get over bad losses sometimes.

St Peters has been talked about all summer and will be talked about during this season, especially when the tourney draws near. Nothing wrong with the OP digging this up if he felt the need. Just pass it by if you don't want to talk about it. Ill bet you anything the team has relieved it all summer and so has Cow. If you forget history you are bound to repeat it. Cow has repeated it for almost 5 straight years now. He better start remembering.

"FACTS do not cease to exist because they are ignored"

Worst loss by UK in the ncaaT in UK history---never should be forgotten.

Terrible loss but not the worst. Losing to UConn twice were both worse just by Cal.

Middle Tennessee comes to mind.

We still like to brag about our history and will always. Our tradition and history is still unmatched in college basketball.

Some are just quicker to move on from bad losses than others. It is what it is lol. Such a rich history and I'm supposed to dwell on a game vs St Peters? lol.

I've been a UK fan for like 35 years. Many more good times than bad.

I am unhappy about every NCAA tourney loss. How many are we up to now? But, I like to keep in mind we have 8 titles...2nd all time.

Some fans just enjoy wallowing in the losses.

@MdWIldcat55 has never written anything critical about Calipari, as far as I know. It's weird stuff.

there’s a few in house of blue that are the same way. A couple of them literally only post to insult anyone that criticizes calipari.

Then there are a few more that are at least respectful but still, they only seem to show up when there’s a criticism of calipari.

If i didn’t know better i would say he really does have people on here solely for damage control.

Kentucky fans under Calipari.

1. If you think about it, it’s still a successful season.

2. Only one team can win.

3. Yes but statistically, if you read the fine print..

4. It’s all luck anyway.

5. It’s their dream

6. The SEC is just better

7. You just hate Cal

8. But everyone is cheating except us.

9. Rupp lost that one time too.

10. We were in the hunt.

bonus - if you go back to 1944, we had a worse loss. You’re just being negative.

Double bonus - balls bounce in different directions.

I’m actually not bothered that he’s never written anything critical about Calipari. A generally positive person can do that. Just choose to stay silent about the personal gripes, you know. But hoss has always been 100% gushing about every little thing Calipari has ever done. That’s unhealthy.

Nailed it. But to be fair it’s not all Kentucky fans. I think this is a small percentage. Some of them are just terrified of moving on or taking the chances necessary to dominate the sport.

Sadly, mitch barnhardt is one of those. I’m curious how much if at all he’s holding Cal and the program back. Mitch is just so ultra conservative and you’re not going to get to the level the average kentucky fan wants to be at with an AD like that. We can still be very good but we’re not going to consistently be at the top. which is what every program should strive for. Mitch is a “that’s good enough” kind of guy.
