State of 2025 Recruiting

Are we trying to get Connor Moore to visit?
Last I read it was Cincy, OH St, MI and OK. Some of that is speculation. He is said to be a sure future pro. Is very versatile and playing LOT last season would be a perfect fit for us. An All American on the level he has played but his size and skill set he is said to be a can't miss for anyone.

They tried to get Moore, but it apparently won't happen unless something changes.

They are trying to add Shiyazh Pete. The competition is FL, LSU, OK St, IA St, NE, and Vandy. A CB prediction was entered on Jan. 8 for Vandy because Pete is very familiar with Vandy's coaches and had a good visit to Nashville recently. I have been told Stoops doesn't currently have enough NIL money left to sign Grace, Edwards, and Pete if all three wanted to play for UK. That's one reason they couldn't close on Marcellus Barnes.

FCS football will cease to be relevant if FBS rosters swell to 105.
No it won't. There are hundreds of thousands of hs football players in our country. However, it's a huge change for FBS coaches to manage and it will cost the FBS schools a tremendous amount of money. Yet another tail wind for tuition inflation.

Re Stoops/NLI...Stoops himself has touched on major improvements in that area being made since Eddie Gran took on the role of General Manager, taking a lot of the fund raising burden of Stoops. Stoops has said funds are adequate for what's necessary. That's good enough for me.
That is true, and it is helping. Things got better after Stoops, Gran, and Barnhart met to discuss NIL. But more needs to be done. IMO, Stoops should be allowed to hire another nonrecruiting senior staff member or two to help with fundraising and NIL budgeting so Gran can address all of his primary responsibilities more thoroughly. I believe Gran can fundraise effectively, but the bandwidth of that task needs to get broadened a lot at the senior staff level by bringing in what amounts to "football banking executives" who know how to do business with major donors. This is a very specialized task, that requires sophisticated relationship building over a period of years. At some schools, some of these financial relationships are handled at the Board level.

You and I recognize that the NIL climate is literally changing every month. Once the Congress gets involved in something like this, practicality and rationality go right out the window because Congressional business is about compromise between two polar extreme schools of thought.

I am a strong believer that the BBN is plenty big enough and affluent enough to fund NIL for UK as effectively as almost any other schools except possibly the TX and FL schools. But UK must put in the infrastructure to get it done, and our fan base must dispense with all the excuses and engage fully.

What are our chances of landing Pete?
From what I have read today my total guess would be 50/50. Vandy has some of his teammates including the QB from two years ago. But he likes us quite a bit. He is from Montana originally. Having two years left an extra bonus. Very reliable and has the perfect body frame for OLT. Protects the QB well, just like the other four that we have gotten in the portal.

Didn't we hire a woman from Texas A&M a year or 2 ago for some of that NIL coordination?..... Or am I on drugs?
