Congratulations!!My nephew Kellan McLaughlin officially committed to Miami OH. Super proud of the young man. In the end, they showed him the most love and offered him the best opportunity to compete to play right away. They want him to compete for kickoff specialist right away.
Another 2023 name may be on the radar.
Let me stress that I am not an insider. I research and provide analysis of publicly available information. I try not to make predictions because, let's face it, we don't know what these players are going to decide or how our coaches are prioritizing them. We only know what has been reported, and honestly a lot of that turns out to be bs.
Recently, UK DL coach Anwar Stewart strongly implied that 2023 recruiting is not over yet, and that more linemen are on the way. For reasons I have discussed here previously, I still don't believe Stewart is referring to Woo Spencer or Kendrick Gilbert, although it is certainly possible that I might be misreading that. IDK what those two will do next month.
So, see what you think about this and judge for yourself. There is an uncommitted interior defensive lineman from Powder Springs, GA, named Seven Cloud. Cloud has the body type of a NT and is similar in size to Justin Rogers and Quinton Bohanna. At one time, Cloud was publicly committed to GA. Reading between the lines, it looks like GA's coaches put him on the back burner and made him wait. He is still waiting, and his recruitment has been quiet. GA won the national championship, so their recruiting hand has been strengthened. GA probably won't take Seven Cloud now. Meanwhile UK lost Justin Rogers and Quentel Jones. Cloud reportedly holds a UK offer, and Coach Stewart is his recruiter. Cloud may be borderline academically. Is it possible that GA stopped recruiting Cloud and Coach Stewart is steering the player to UK? IDK, but this could be how Stoops ultimately fills Quentel Jones' scholarship. Sometimes it is interesting how various events come together to make something happen. Is Cloud going to be Quinton Bohanna 2.0?

I think Spencer is visiting UK this weekend and then back at Louisville the following weekend.Contrary to my earlier speculations, we now know that UK's coaches are still actively recruiting OL prospect Woo Spencer. Yesterday, Coach Marrow conducted an in-home visit with the Spencer family in Louisville. Evidently, Spencer will commit to UK, UL, MI St, or MS St next month. Knowing that Marrow is still pursuing Spencer, I have to like our chances. UK's staff regards Spencer as an OG prospect and worked him out at that position when Spencer previously attended a summer camp in Lexington.

It doesn't seem like they really prioritized himI was really hoping Coen & Woody could work some of their Nashville magic on Bell here in January
Could be with the addition of A. Brown/Porter that Bell became less of a priority. Still, I'm greedy....I'd like to have Bell too.It doesn't seem like they really prioritized him
I figured it was 51% UL 49% UK with Spencer because of the Aspirations breakup factor
Thats pretty close if true
Forgot to add, if it hasn’t been mentioned yet on here, his good friend Carter Schwartz the punter has decommitted from UK. He’s barely heard from them since he committed and they won’t respond to his attempts to reach out. I’ll say this. Not a fan of Coach Matsakis. He’s a very poor communicator. Not the best recruiter. They’re angling to see if there’s room for Schwartz at Miami OH too.Congratulations to him and to you! Great school. I will be following them next season and beyond to see his progress.

UK can't comment on commitments, just signees or enrollees.Forgot to add, if it hasn’t been mentioned yet on here, his good friend Carter Schwartz the punter has decommitted from UK. I'm pretty sure he cut Purdue. His final 4 were mich st, missSt, UK, and UL. He had eligibility issues but looks to have worked it out. As far as his family, his situation is similar to Goodwin. Vaughn may not be his guardian but has him in school across the river to get him eligible. Vaughn was at his in home meeting with marrow the other day. The pic was Vaughn, marrow, woo, and his mom (though could have been his sister). Just my opinion but if Vaughn is the influence he was to Goodwin it is prob a bad fit. Don't get me wrong he has stepped up and been a father figure, but he is also giving these guys really bad advice.Does anyone here know the Spencer family? Just wondering. I will be very surprised if he doesn't sign with UL or Purdue, but don't have an inside angle. Would be a big get, just because it seems to me like the family likes UL as a program. I don't know if this is a driving factor and UK is just leverage for attention, or if the Spencers have seen the development and success of UK players and UL is leverage in the NIL game. It's interesting though
If you were to bet do we get him ?I'm pretty sure he cut Purdue. His final 4 were mich st, missSt, UK, and UL. He had eligibility issues but looks to have worked it out. Re Spencer, seems to me it'll come down to: Does he want the challenge of playing in the SEC or take the easier path thru the ACC? U6 would give him immediate PT, probably 2-3 years away from PT at UK. Will be interesting to see how he views his talents.I'm pretty sure he cut Purdue. His final 4 were mich st, missSt, UK, and UL. Just guessing I say no. Though he is supposedly visiting this weekend and UL nextIf you were to bet do we get him ?
From my understanding Thomas will be a walk-on at LouisvilleJust picked up the CJ sports page and there as headlines "Eastern Lineman picks U of L"...Quintez Thomas...final decision between UK and UL...only problem...UK offered as a PWO...headlines...for a PWO...WOW!!!
From my understanding Thomas will be a walk-on at Louisville
Yes, both offered PW status. At 6-5 350 would have like to have him and see how he develops. From my understanding Thomas will be a walk-on at Louisville
Not sure what your point is. I was talking about Schwartz not getting any communication from the staff after he committed. I'm not taking about public statements or comments. I'm talking about his own personal communication with the staff, which was lacking.UK can't comment on commitments, just signees or enrollees.
Here is the background. UK got a CB pick for Spencer from Wiltfong in September. Coach Marrow has personally recruited him. Spencer has visited UK several times and participated in a summer camp last year during which UK's coaches gave him lots of attention. We now know that UK's coaches have continued to recruit him seriously and that our coaches made an inhome visit recently to see the Spencer family in Louisville. I think it is safe to speculate that UK was the leader prior to Brohm being hired in Louisville. OTOH, Liam Coen has been hired since then, and Spencer is being recruited as an offensive player. So the question is simple. Has Brohm flipped him toward UL? UL is scheduled to get his last campus visit, but first Spencer will visit UK this weekend.Re Spencer, seems to me it'll come down to: Does he want the challenge of playing in the SEC or take the easier path thru the ACC? I would say it’s either UofL or UK just not sure which way he will go. He was at UofL last weekend with Goodwin and Chris Vaughn. I know he is suppose to be at UK this weekend and then back at UofL the following weekend.Cardinal, what are you hearing about Woo?
This is a good breakdown. But just adding that a player committing for a coordinator is probably a bad idea. Coordinators change too much. Stoops has shown though that he knows how to take care of the program and you can trust his next hire. Here is the background. UK got a CB pick for Spencer from Wiltfong in September. So here is my guess. It is possible that Coach Marrow might lock him up this weekend during the visit to Lexington. But if Spencer goes ahead and visits Louisville the following weekend, then the adantage swings to Brohm. It's not that Brohm is a magical recruiter. I haven't seen that. But Spencer is a Louisville native, and the final campus visit is usually an advantage.
How does Spencer see himself? Does he see himself as an SEC OG? Does he want to play for Coach Coen in the top football conference? Or does he want to play in the ACC? We will find out.
If you don't mind, I have a question about Goodwin. Rumors are floating that Brohm told him they weren't interested. Could that be the reason he is visiting UF, now?I would say it’s either UofL or UK just not sure which way he will go. He was at UofL last weekend with Goodwin and Chris Vaughn. Think it may come down to PT. He's probably at least 2 years away from serious PT at UK, likely in the rotation as a true freshman at U6. That may be enough to sway him. Here is the background. I'm not the person you directed your question to but it was mentioned elsewhere a day or 2 ago that UF has a major shortage of OL. Think about all their starters entered the portal, graduated or declared for the draft. They are really shorthanded in the OL, had to be a factor. If you don't mind, I have a question about Goodwin. Rumors are floating that Brohm told him they weren't interested. Could that be the reason he is visiting UF, now?

Thanks for your reply. Is UL interested in Goodwin? Ive heard conflicting stories.
Thanks again.
Hope the best for the kid. But from what I had seen of him, he needed to drop MUCH MORE than 30.I don't know about UL, but UF is. The visit was suppose to be a secret but got leaked. Fans are hoping he just stays and enrolls on Monday. Said he had dropped about 30 lb.
