They might makes us regret we didn’t give him a second term
I rarely watch college basketball except of course for the Cats. But watched our ex old coach tonight. More than impressed. Pitino will turn 73 later this year. He hasn’t lost a step when it comes to coaching. Down 14 points in the first half at UConn yet they pull it out due to a relentless defense ( over 20 turnovers for UConn) and a well orchestrated offense.
Only with fans who still could not deal with their emotions 20 years after Pitino left.

"Slime ball"
And also the man who took Kentucky from ashes back to number one in the country in a two year window.
I think their coach also still has a strong fire burning that’s fueling his drive to win while ours just didn’t care anymore.
Pitino is in a perfect spot for him, a place he likes and a place where the pressure is MUCH MUCH less than say UofL or Kentucky.
I know a lot of people would like to have him back here, but I think he's too old and wouldn't handle the pressure well. Guys like him take smaller D1s or less prominent D1s and enjoy their last few years of coaching without all the insane pressure.
Big East is a good conference for him (not really good, but not ACC bad either). SEC would eat him alive right now. I mean, look at Barnes, Cal, Beard, etc. All seasoned coaches getting tested every night.

General Manager at UK, when he retires from coaching?
He's 72. Say he decided to go another 3 years. He'd be 75. And no telling about his health. I'm not against it, but, man, he's getting on in years.
So you're saying the pressure is more at St. John's? Come on.
And let's not forget what happened when he was under immense pressure at UofL.
The Big East is not insanely good atm, not like the SEC. But they have some good teams (St. Johns, Marquette, UConn)
What in that is refutable. Pitino is a good coach, no doubt. He's also 72. I have no doubt he can handle Xs and Os anywhere. It's the rest you have to take into fact at much larger programs.
Wish we would’ve hire pitino as the coach with pope as the coach in waiting to take over after 3-5 yrs.
Goes from griping about his players to this. You never know quite which Pitino you will get sometimes.
St. John’s is legit and unbelievable defensively. They are a Final 4 caliber team.
I could see Pitino doing that somewhere. I'd love for it to happen here if he did. Join a coaching staff after getting bored in retirement, and comeback in some role like Larry Brown did in Memphis. Gene Keady did it at St. John's and Phil Martelli at Michigan.
Call me crazy and I’m not saying they will but I fully expect St. John’s to make a run this year. They have a legitimate chance to win it all. Rick Pitino loves basketball more than life itself.
As a fan during the RP glory days, I was always in favor of giving him a look. There is no better motivator of men than RP. Sure, I know he has his baggage as we all do, but he never did anything to hurt this program while here as a coach. I think most of his well-known problems came from his regret of leaving Camelot and trying to recreate it.
Our President is 78 and will be on the job for at least the next 4 years and will be 82 before his term is up. So, what is your point?
When you were considered all world, it has to be hard enduring this rather pedestrian season.
I'd like to see Rick take a role as Senior Advisor. #1 sounding board for Coach Pope on all things basketball operations and meet with high dollar boosters for NIL fundraising. Clearly loves Kentucky and Pope. Kind of a pipe dream though as I think Rick is one of those who will be head coach until he's in the ground or can't physically/mentally do it anymore.
Have him come to practice once a week for defensive clinics

Actually went exactly according to plan if you're familiar with what some of us dumbasses do during games like this.
Oh, it seems similar to me recording the games and watching them later because they had a couple of big wins when I wasn't able to watch them. Unfortunately, that has run its course. Lol
I will be cheering for Pitino to get his fourth school to a Final Four, a record that would never be duplicated if it happens.

The time to have gotten Pitino back would have been right after he left the Celtics. Tubby should have stepped down to open the door for him. Even then, Smith was struggling with recruiting, having just lost out on all of his primary targets the previous season: Darius Rice, Rolando Howell, Luke Ridnour, Imari Sawyer, Omar Cook, Darius Miles, Chris Duhon, Andre Barrett, Taliek Brown.
It was clear that he was in over his head and would never keep Kentucky at the premier program in America.
Pitino was only about 48 years old when he left the Celtics. Would have been a perfect transition if Tubby Smith had been honest with himself.
