That is not news and it’s not an update, unfortunately.
Literally all Howard is doing in that tweet (which you’ll notice is from shortly after the game ended last night) is quoting Pope from his post-game presser last night. And anyone who heard the full exchange knows Pope was actually giving a non—answer.
He was specifically asked whether the coaches had received any specific information about the nature and extent of Butler’s injury and whether they had any forecast or plan based on that, that he could share, as far as either how long we should expect him to be out or any specific plan they had for how they might able to get Butler healthy quicker or get him healthy at all.
And Pope mostly dodged the question, not really because he was being evasive like Cal always did but because at that point literally all he had done since the game ended was give a little locker-room speech and then walk in there to get interviewed. So how on Earth would Pope be expected to know anything about what was asked at that point?
So he literally replied that he didn’t know anything at all about Butler’s new status, but Butler was a super tough kid, amazing competitor and leader, and he hopes we could get him back as soon as possible.
If course he hopes we can get him back as soon as possible and of course we all do.
But what is quoted here was nothing like an update and was never meant to be.
