I'm hearing there should be a big crowd of Ohio recruits visiting Kentucky for both the junior day in early March and the spring game on April 16. Bryant Koback, Mike Warren and James Hudson did not make it to the junior day earlier this month for various reasons (transportation in at least the last two cases), but they will all be at one or both of those events coming up, as will the Cats' other commitments.
I'm still hearing that Kentucky is targeting the same 'Big Three' at receiver from the Buckeye State: JaVonte Richardson (who's still Rivals100 after this last ranking update, and still the No. 2 overall player in Ohio), Jaylen Harris and Danny Davis.
What I heard from the start is that Ohio State is likely to end up with one of those three players above, just based on what they're looking for re: need in this class, who they're likely to get from elsewhere. That would leave Kentucky with still a good opportunity to land one of those three big-time players, although I'm sure they're hoping they could land two.
Richardson is the one of the three that Kentucky's probably in the best shape with but don't discount them totally with Davis. And for the first time in a while I heard Harris mentioned again, so he's still a player they're after.
Offensive tackle Thayer Munford is still a target as well. He did apparently visit Louisville recently, but I'm told that Kentucky's still in pretty good shape with him.
There are a couple of linemen under the radar that I think the Cats are pursuing.
Four-star defensive back Amir Riep has absolutely blown up with offers from Ohio State and many other big-time programs. Nonetheless, after some of those offers he followed through with that planned visit to Kentucky for the junior day earlier, and I've been told that his father has a really grounded approach to recruiting, and they're being sold on the fact that he could play earlier at Kentucky than some of the other places he's being courted by.
Tyrell Ajian, a Rivals250 defensive back, told me over the weekend that he is still in contact with UK and still very much interested.
I know defensive end/pass rusher Alex King likes Tennessee and Wisconsin, but he's another to keep an eye out for.
In short, all of the targets mentioned above and others we've mentioned before, they're still in play for. They are all expected to visit for one of the next two big events in the early part of the spring.
Given the hiring of three Cincinnati assistant coaches (once Clinkscale becomes official) it's safe to say that the city of Cincinnati will come into greater focus and I'd suspect a new pool of players will emerge those places.
