Skal's growing some guns...

Yeah, him trying to act tough hasn't done much good. He looks silly, like his exchange with Ben Simmons, or gets a useless foul like his "T" yesterday.

Being tough or acting tough is a totally different mindset. Hopefully soon he can get it figured out...

Skal looks more muscular than he is because his body fat is extremely low. He has definition but very little muscle mass. His shoulders, hips and thighs are narrow so he does not occupy much space inside and his base is weak so he gets pushed around.

Davis, Towns and Cauley-Stein were all way wider and thicker than Skal, not even close.

Noticed a couple times during the game Skal does not have skinny arms. He seems to be working hard. Wiltjer has skinny arms. Just an observation. Don't know if it will help this season but he is working. A little petulent while playing. He has to control himself better...
I would take Wiljter over Skal and his guns in a heartbeat.

Not me....3's we got covered. Skal's at least a chance down low... Wilt... is a sure thing to not be anything in the paint...
[laughing] Wiljter had 35 & 10 last week in a game. Skal has not got that in a month.

he already had muscular defined arms before arriving on campus, there was even a thread dedicated to it last april

Maybe because the offense was not run thru him.

It didn't miss by much once NN went down but revision is easy. I'm a Wiltjer fan too but you are working hard to place blame. That's what I'd do too if I could. I'd hope or wish for something I know I can never have. Wiltcher chose to leave... his choice. He won a championship here, chose to leave and you wish he was back here now. He's always a Cat but he dumped UK. You have to live with tgat and also live in the present...

I don't wish he was back here I just said I would take him over Skal. He is putting up good numbers.

Still thinking if we do not sign Bolden and Skal stays and put in a "Jorts" likes effort, he could develop into our best addition for next year. With a dependable presence in the low paint (Bam..SKJ)...Skal could/should be a factor 12/15 ft out.

All of us are hoping skal gets it together. If he can become a 10& 6 guy it may at least give us a puchers chance come March. If he don't we may be getting a rematch of 2013 with Robert Morris.

Not aimed at you but don't think all on this board want good for UK.

Skal needs lower body strength to get and hold low post position as well as to push opposing players out of the lane when he's on defense. This should be much less of an issue by next year if he commits to training in the off-season. And, he better commit to this or he will likely see limited minutes next year with the class coming in.

Skal has gone from a 2/10 to a 3/10. I know some people are going to laugh at just how far off he still is, but I'm excited that fact that he's starting to get it, even if it is ever so slowly. If Skal can get to a 6 or 7 by the tournament, we might be alright.

Confidence can cure everything. It's not gonna happen overnight. But when he starts realizing he *deserves* to be in this league (something I bet he was skeptical about), he'll become more involved, try harder, not sulk.. etc etc etc.

I could be wrong. He could very well be another Poythress who just sleep walks through his college career. But it's a step in the right direction.
