I’m not going worry about this one right now. But didn’t he get a pretty big NIL deal? I know that’s not NBA money by any means, but it might keep him in Lex for another season to show off and still get paid.

I agree this isn’t ideal, but what is Cal supposed to say to the #1 player who wants to:

A) Sign with Kentucky
B) Enroll early

I’m in the camp that hopes/believes he plays this year, thinks there’s a 5% chance he plays here next year and also just glad that we are seriously back in contention for #1 players. We’ll see.
I say don't come here if you don't plan on playing here.

Its an unfortunate situation but I dont see how Cal can get alot of blame here.

Surely he hasn't already gotten an NIL deal?

I’m sure UK didn’t want it out. I’ve thought all along his intention was to condition with the team, make some NIL money, and enter this years draft without playing a game for UK.
It is what it is and I’m not very happy about it.
We have a pretty good team and hopefully we finish strong.

I am rather sick of Cal allowing these kids to use us as a pitstop. He can stop it real easy by going to Sharpe and saying you play the next game or pack your bags. We have enough cheerleaders!
Find a new team

According to Kyle Tucker, this isn't new information to UK or Sharpe and they were wanting to keep it quiet because of speculation. He says that whether Sharpe plays this year or not, as of today, he still plans on coming back next season.

And that dude swimming for penns team I'd I'd girl. Lol he is gone after this season. Cal better play him

After much deep thought I've decided .. I really dont care what he does . If he plays I will cheer , if he doesnt I'll take a whores bath in honor of Grand Master Cal and look forward to the next John . Man the system is so entirely broken . These poor student athletes .

The only thing we have is a bunch of NIL money for him. Two years ago, then he's probably gone.. just maybe with a six figure endorsement deal here, money doesn't become a huge issue. Live the good life with one year of college and build your name recognition..
hes from Canada, he cant get NIL.

Well, my guess is we never see him play. At #6, he would earn 5.3M and be 1 year closer to the big contract. It's almost impossible to believe a top 10 pick would walk away from that for a year of college ball. Makes no sense whatsoever. This has the potential to get really ugly.

This is a win/win gamble for Cal IMO.

1. He stays and UK gets a guy who is the number 1 recruit in the country and who has a half a year of practices with the team under his belt. So, he should be even further along than almost any other freshman in the country in 2022/2023.

2. He leaves to the NBA draft. Well, UK still got him for the second half of the season, where they could use him in practice, a luxury no other team has. Now our guards and forwards have increased competition every day, which only helps them to improve for this year and beyond. We have an open scholarship, so we didn't waste this on him when we could have used it on someone else.

3. Even if he doesn't log minutes in a game, Cal and UK will still claim him if he does well in the NBA. They'll still prop him up as someone that Cal helped to mold into a better player. That can only continue to help us in recruiting.

I just don't see the downside other than it just being a buzz kill that we as fans don't get to see him in games.

Shit pisses me the **** off dude. Guy comes in here, uses the facilities, gets some pics of him wearing a KY t-shirt in the joe craft center, some vids of him dunking in the lay up lines then dips???? I knew something was up when he was emotionless on the bench and in the handshake line. This is the price we pay with Cal. He may win but damn it puts the fans in the dirt.

Screw you! You are part of the problem with UK basketball if you think it’s ok for this kid to use our great program in this way. You can’t be a true fan!!
You're just as much part of the problem assuming he's just using UK this year. They knew he'd be eligible for the draft, why go to college for 1 semester anyway? Spending 3 months at UK doesn't affect his draft status if he's already a lottery pick.

1. This was not a shock to Cal....but he let Sharpe come on board anyway. And Cal has an idea of Sharpe truly plans to come back for 2022 - 23 collegiate season. All the other sideshow blurbs are Cal baloney....plain and simple.

2. Here is the rub for UK fans....
- We are never building for a title but for the year we are in. Can the current team win it all w/o Sharpe. Maybe but I'd say Saturday will go along way toward making that call. So if we arent' a solid favorite...we need Sharpe right now
- And then on to 2022-23 team. We have probably lost the #1 player and SF player to play alongside of the Fr next year and holdovers like Collins, Ware, Hopkins, etc... We thought Center was our main hole left to fill...now we have a hole at the SF spot as well...and we've not gotten other top wings in that class as we took Sharpe's commitment and thought we were done.

If we come up short with this year's team and now next year's team will have holes....fans are going to have their reactions and i hitnk they have a very good reason to not be happy.

Even all the way down to pick 15, you’re guaranteed 9 million, and that’s without the fourth year that is almost always picked up even if you are terrible. Then if you’re good at all, you’re in line for the max or near it.

No NIL deal can beat that. He is gone. No matter what he says, he is gone.

even if he is terrible he’ll never drop below 15. Even if he gets hurt he will not drop below 15.

play him now, or get nothing out of the entire fiasco.

Cal has basically already told SS that when he wants to play, he can play. Said this the other day. Just waiting on SS and his camp to give the green light.
So he can show out for scouts and dip out in may for combine workouts and the draft. His camp prob doesn't want him to play to avoid injury. What coach on this planet has to get permission from a players ''camp'' to play??? The inmates run the asylum and this is the same shit we were talking about. Maybe Chin Coleman can help him pick out a suit for the big night.

Its an unfortunate situation but I dont see how Cal can get alot of blame here.
Let's see...Cal created this one and done model. Constantly talks about the NBA and contract money his former players are making. Holds a Pro day for NBA scouts to attend every year before the season starts.

Yeah, he's totally blameless in all of this. Hard to understand why kids would be thinking about the NBA they way they do at UK.
