IIRC we basically dominated that game in 2012 (and I do recall correctly), he wasn't close.
We would have went undefeated last year if we hadn't run out of time.
I think the OP is reaching. Playing in the National Championship game by definition is 'real close'.
Hey, there are 347 Division 1 basketball teams and they were one of the last 2. They absolutely did get real close. Would anyone argue that we didn't get real close in 2014? Nothing wrong with what he's saying.
I get a chuckle too at all the angst over KU here. It's pretty funny. I am here because we go after the same recruits or recruits they are after at times impact the recruits we are after in some measure. I have no idea why this board hates KU so much.
You were "real close" to copying our facilities and ideas. You were NEVER going to win it all in 2012 and you really shouldn't have won it in 2008. Kansas should be sitting at 2 titles, right with San Francisco and Florida.
We just get tired of our little out of state brother, who we own and control, trying to imitate our ish, and pretend they have the tradition we do.

Self and Calipari are very similar coaches. They both want their teams to have ball movement and to play stifling defense.
I mean to be fair, your fans used to be cool with us, but have turned into a bunch of dicks towards us since Cal was hired.
Weirdly, they brag about fathering our legendary program and go down the line talking about our coaches who started there, including Cal, then give him zero benefit of the doubt with the silly message board accusations.

The gap between UK and other teams were too big. It doesn't matter if you played UK in second round or championship game. You weren't going to win.

If you are in the game, you have a chance. But, great retrospective after the fact point of view. It's always easy to pick the winner when the outcome has been decided.

Just so we are clear...are you say the four Final Four's in the last five years with Cal isn't 'worth a damn thing'? And Championships are the only factor that should be consider?
Pretty much everyone had the winner as UK...except for few delusional KU fans.
And UK will win in Jan 2016 as well. That one is much closer and more unpredictable. But 2012 was clearly obvious, who the victor was going to be.
Take this from one of those 'delusional KU fans'...the 2011-12 with Davis, Teague and MKG was one of the best team in College basketball. I think that team beats your 38-1 team of last season. It wasn't as deep but first-five was better. Great team.
No disagreement here... 2012 was amazing. Jones was underrated player. Lamb with his shooting created so much spacing.
Well they got closer to winning the whole thing compared to our team this past year. At least it was historical. Maybe Cal will actually have his players watch game film before the final four game and championship game this year.
Deep down Kansas fans want Calipari because they know he could very well be 3 championships to whatever blue blood had the right timing to nab him. They link it with their program, since he "coached" there (I wouldn't even call it that.)
It just adds to their "should be us" complex about UK/Adolph Rupp that started with their parents and grandparents. Imagine being a long time Kansas fan in the 50's/60's watching UK take one of their own and creating the Mecca. Hell, I'd be jealous too.
Couple it with their inability to win big, Kentucky's dominance on their program, as well as the landscape over the next 60 years, and there ya have it.
