I agree. Come back and triple your money.

Some think he should spend a year at Kentucky under John Calipari and help transform himself into a lottery pick in the 2018 Draft.

“That is what he should do,” a second NBA scout said. “He’ll play on a big stage. All their players are gone and there’s an opportunity to be a star. That equals [being a] top pick [if] he plays at a high level.”

I think that's the general consensus. I think he's doing it now to see what he needs to work on. Sure the nba drafts on potential, but guys like ferguson were forced to go over seas had he went to az for a yr and at the bench he would of been in the same boat but Jen got some professional experience past high school. I think he went to see what he needs to work on

He's already #33 on DraftExpress.com. Before the combine. Without playing a year. He's probably most likely going to be rising into the 1st round after the combine and at that point, coming back isn't necessary. You take the risk for injury, not raising stock, potentially lowering stock. Etc.

I'm interested to know, if he comes back, how many people have permanent resentment for Diallo in their heart. He did what we all knew what he was going to do, but a few people are pretty clearly legitimately very hurt and angered by it.

It's his life not mine- I say do whatever you feel is best. Not sure why anyone would take these decisions personal. In the mean time, I will cheer for whoever suits up in blue next year. That is the way it has been since we got Cal, it is the way it will be as long as he is here

If by people you mean posters here I think if he plays here then it is a moot point with most. I didn't think it was a good idea from the start(risk vs reward) if he plays here I was wrong and very willing to admit it. If he moves on without playing here I will feel justified in the concern that I had in the first place.

I hope he contributes to the team next season, I don't understand why anyone would be angry at the kid unless it came to light that he didn't attend classes and hold up his end of the deal as a college freshman, that would reflect poorly on the program.

How do you know that when he goes to the combine that "he's probably going to be rising"? He could very well fall. Do you not think that NBA Scouts have been to UK practices? They have seen him against Fox and Monk and all of the UK roster. Yet he is still ranked in the 2nd round, which means no guaranteed money.

If he stays, next years draft is not as guard heavy. That means he has the opportunity to get into the top 10. That's a HUGE money difference, not counting the marketing value UK Basketball provides every player by being here that one year.

When I see him ranked in the top 20 by ANY NBA Draft expert, I will worry about him not returning.

That is a good post. Nobody knows for sure but there's been a recent poll on who likes the one and done and who doesn't like it. I believe it ended up split 50-50 with each getting about 120 votes. That's why this board has been so brutal of late. I don't have a dog in the fight but I still have an opinion. I won't dislike him and I'll cheer for anything UK but he would probably be my least favorite player on the team. No need to bash me because it's just MY OPINION and everyone else can feel free to love him.

People always say this, but I can't remember a single player that ever shot up the draft board following the combine. I would guess the reason for that is because most already have an opinion about you before the combine, and aren't going to let a few days of stellar play influence their thinking much. These scouts already know all the things that make Diallo special. Do you really think that Diallo can have a few good days shooting the ball in front of scouts, and those scouts say "you know what, even though this kid has never shot the ball well against competition in the last 3 years, but these last 3 days says this guy's a shooter".

I am disappointed that we may not get to see him wear the blue and white, but in the end we all know that if it was our son with a chance to make millions we would be ecstatic for him. I put the blame on the NBA they have set it up to be this way and you either go with the flow or get left behind.

Yeah, and I think that's where the scout is coming from. These NBA teams put millions on this stuff. They know that what you do in practice and what you can do in the rhythm of play against a committed defense while 20,000 people are screaming at you are two different things.

I think some of you guys just want to be pessimistic about this no matter what.

Why not just stay away from threads about Diallo? You're always getting in a pissing match with somebody.

People have a right to be angry. Not wanting to harm him anger but because if he is good enough for the draft and very much is wether he returns or not, then he should have been in all the games he was elgible for helping us win 9.

He is not called King of New York just for kicks. People are angry because Cal used ZERO common sense in this situation. Its like having a perfectly good arm but its in a cast. All that added to players leaving with NO chance of getting on a roster and its starting to rub folks wrong. So he comes back Wonderful , but it wont erase people being frustrated like it never happend. There are posters on this board who will bully and troll you if all you want most is a title. When did that start being a thing? Its always been us fans goal because our history, tradition, and success DEMAND it.

Just watched some of his old mixtapes and the kid is throwing down left handed tomahawks and dunking like Tom Chambers in the lane. Going to be hard for an NBA team to pass on him in the first round IMO.

If this was the case and he was capable of showing out at the combine he was capable of playing in games at the end. Most early entries into the draft the guys that move up are usually the guys that nobody knew as much about. We have scouts at our practices. And he has been seen he is a known commodity. Just as likely he slides

Diallo will be back......If he is not going to be drafted in the 1st round. Everyone will love him and all this petty BS by some of you will be forgotten. You will be telling everyone how great he is and how much you love him. Leave the kid alone. If he goes he goes and if he comes back be happy. Cal took a chance and sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.

If hes good enough to get drafted then he was good enough to play last season. He didn't play so that leads me to believe he wont be drafted till he has a full year of playing here under his belt.

This is absolutely wrong.

He didn't play because he (and Cal) knew that he'd be better off being drafted on potential and combine results than by playing and possibly struggling the 2nd semester (despite probably helping the team). The only way he comes back is if that strategy was still not enough to put him solidly in the first round.
