SATURDAY games thread

If the NCAA passes the 5th year, then most of UT's team can return. Ziegler already said he'd return for year 5 if they pass it. Okpara can return. So can Milicic.

If they get those 3 back, they are automatically a contender. You know they would get a few transfers as well.
Okpara is only a junior so he will be back.

We have had several fans stating that they would not want the TN point guard onourteam andif he were he he would not start. If we had Zeigler as our point guard we would be dangerous. He is the best poinzt guard in the country.

TN isn’t going anywhere in my opinion…their AD is one of the best if not the best in country…he will make a great hire unfortunately.
Yeah, Gone ars the days we could count on Doug Dicky or Phillip Fulmer to keep TN in the wilderness. Danny White has ties and he will no doubt find them a great head coach.
Barnes will be leaving/retiring on good terms so White will have plenty of heads up to start looking for/interviewing a coach without causing any riffs with the current one.
No doubt he already has someone in mind.

Very possible they get even better when Barnes leaves. At least with Barnes we could could always count on him to lose in March.

Cal in his 15 years at Kentucky went 350-17 when up 10+ at any point

Of course he started 274-6 through Jan 11 2020 and then the losses started piling up with the not so great teams compared to his first 9 years

76-11 from Jan 25th 2020 to March 9th 2024
I didn’t say one word about Cal’s tenure here. Cal never was good about making comebacks because of how he chose to defend and score, especially over these last five years. I said this year. Did you read that part? Was Cal our coach this year? No he wasn’t. It was Mark Pope. You just wasted a post that made absolutely no sense to what I said.

Couldn’t find nothing on college but one in four games in the NBA see a team come back from a double digit deficit to win. Not just catch up or take the lead but to win. I would say college isn’t far behind that. Which is like 10x higher than it was 20 years ago. Point proven.

That's great. The point remains.

The record of a team up double digits at any point in a game is massive. Specific instances don't change that.
You just love to argue. It’s nothing for a basketball team to come back from 15 points down these days and win. I mean wasn’t St John’s down 12 points or more and wound up taking the lead? Nobody made a big deal about that. And why? Because it happens all the time now. You need to put your phone down and actually watch a game.

Like I just told the other guy, couldn’t find nothing on college basketball but in the NBA one in four games see a team overcome a double digit deficit to not just take the lead but to win the game. That’s like 10x higher than it was 20 years ago. I’m willing to bet college is similar. Point proven.

That’s rich. You quoted me lol. I’m not arguing with you.

Henry provided the stats. It’s still in this day extremely unlikely when you are down by that much to comeback.

Once Houston got ahead by 10 their win prob in that game did not dip below 90%

When BYU went on a 14-2 run in the first half to go up 30-19 their Win prob was 80%.

My post wasn’t even that confrontational. It was common sense.

Yeah with the increase in 3s that definitely provides an opportunity for more comebacks than say 10-15 years ago but it’s still very low. And not to the point where a commentator needs to constantly remind us about.

JMO but when Troy is down by 13 I’m not really sure how they are “still in the game”. It’s a reach.

Other thing is these things don’t exist in a vacuum.

The mere fact that one team is ahead by that much probably means that team is the better team (on most occasions) thus making the comeback even harder.

It’s one thing for UK to be down by double digits and legit feel they can make a comeback. It’s entirely different to think Troy is ever getting back into a game vs us down 17

I wouldn’t be shocked if that happens eventually, but subsequent reports have suggested that nothing is imminent on that front.

That would mean Tennessee is looking at a lot of turnover next year after all.
Saw someone on Twitter say that the Budd Clark guy was strongly rumored to Tennessee. Whether Barnes hangs it up or not probably has a lot to do with how they'll be able to reload.

Michigan flipped the script pretty good.

Only 2 negative post, they used to be 5 every half, their getting soft
I never get the idea of ascribing such serious accusations at the players like that they are soft or something like that. I love basketball but I hold the rule that if I won’t say something to someone’s face I ain’t doing it online. The internet stuff where people are jerks without ramification thing is definitely a sad reflection on the current state of things. Anywho, clearly the site being overrun with negativity is getting on my nerves. Hope to God we win tonight. Otherwise this place will be hard to visit lol

That guy is watching butler play with one arm, but man he is soft. Or Carr and Amari play through back injuries. Soft. And yeah no doubt it will if they lose. I’ll be disappointed and sad I gotta wait 7 months for Kentucky basketball to come back, but I understand the circumstances.

Ulis is a top3 favorite player under Cal.. I think he was phenomenal.. but I'm just not sure giving him that assignment, as a freshman, would have been a good idea. It would have been an extremely risky move.

And people also mention playing Booker more. Well, Booker was in an atrocious shooting slump the last 10 or so games. So you really had to stick with what got you this far, which was the twins.

I also think losing Poythress as a defender was what really hurt us.

Oh, and it diesnt help that Wisconsin got bailed out on several officiating calls. If that shit clock violation is called, we probably have another title.
Not to mention very poor coaching and stall ball from Cal along with Willie not showing up. He should have benched WCS early in that game. Cal did a horrible job prepping and managing that whole game. Several close wins and near losses that season, his luck ran out
