Rothstein on Charles Matthews

Its who finishes that matters, especially in close games.
Guys who can defend will be in there:

Poy
Ulis
Murray
Skal
Hawkins

Sound crazy? I think Hawkins tries to break through this year and that's not a knock on Briscoe.

DeAndre has made it in the pros... You don't get there without having great athletic ability. Let's be the judge as the season goes along.
. nope judging now and Matthew is the better athlete and there are all kinds of unathletic guys playing pro ball, get real

Brisco will start and be the best player on the floor.

Great shooter.

I think people who say those who say 40-0 are automatically trolls and should be banned are trolls, if I was a mod the above poster would be banned on that alone.

See how that works?

Thankful you are not a mod btw.

That doesnt come close to making sense. Did that sound better in your head or something? Why would a troll want other trolls banned? Completely goes against what they are trying to accomplish

guys by now all true UK fans have learned their lesson about 40-0. Only trolls suggest it now to the point if I was a mod the above poster would be banned on that alone.

How many people missed the joke in that post? This might be a fishing record.

When has the freshman ever not been the better option? You are suggesting there was at least one instance when Cal intentionally didn't play the better player because he feels the need to get people drafted, when I'm very certain that has never happened. He's never had to really choose, since the highly rated guys are always our best players, but still.

Booker and Ulis have been argued by many to have been the better option over the Harrisons, but they did not play in the end against Wiscy.

When will you be convinced you've told everyone your three points?

When no one celebrates last season, or look forward to the next?

This again?

Both twins were awesome in the clutch their entire careers, up until that point. Yes, their performance at the end of the Wisc game was less than desired, but good God this is the absolute worst kind of Monday morning quarterbacking. Why? Because Sam Dekker KILLING Devin Booker on defense was one of the prime reasons we were even in that spot to begin with.

I bet you hated when Aaron nailed that 35 footer in the waning minutes of the Notre Dame comeback, just days before. It just would have looked prettier if Devin had shot it.

This has to be CutNets... ignore is a wonderful function (except when you cannot figure out what other people are replying to...)

You and other random people disagreeing with who should have been playing is not proof that Cal is intentionally subverting team success to get people drafted. Especially since they were clearly being outplayed in that game.

I think the 3 guards start. If defense becomes a glaring issue; and it could. Ulis will be the one who comes off the bench.

Size kills.

My bad guys, long week. I am going insane, apologies to the poster as I see it was a joke now.

But to the one guy who thinks it will happen...I just don't see it. If last year's UK team could not do it then I'm not sure who will ever go undefeated. You just have so much parity. Then again, if we had last year's UK team back this year...looking at the landscape you kinda think "maybe" but it would have to be the perfect storm in a down year IMO.

There were times when I thought Booker and Ulis looked better then the twins but the Wisconsin game wasn't one of them. Neither had a very good game offensively or defensively.

Cal might opt for Briscoe in the end, but that doesn't mean he's going to be a better finisher for us this season than Hawkins. That kid's chance to shine is now.

The videos on the kid was great plus the couple of games that I saw him play Hawkins will have his hands full trying to beat him out.

You serious Clark?

Note: To everyone else, is this a joke? I am off my game lately, but I think this guy actually thinks Hawkins>Briscoe. If Briscoe can shoot over 28% from 2, 18% from 3, and 40% from the FT line I think he will rise above Hawkins...no offense KMKat.

Well, Cal's trend is to play the freshmen over any returnee. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm looking at it as the best 5 at the end of games. Of course it depends on the lead, the situation, but I felt Hawkins deserved more time last year, but you can't play everyone. I get it.

If this is a prediction game, I lose every time; Cal will play the freshmen.

I hate to sound crass, but there is no "shine" in a college basketball sense for Dom. He's a great kid, and he will live a successful life because of his time at UK, but he will never play meaningful minutes here.

He will, however, get to continue to practice for years against future NBA players, experience that will make him better and help him garner a nice contract overseas.
