Some interesting things to note:

UK got the top pitcher in Ohio, Tennessee, and Kentucky. The kids from TN and OH were right-handed pitchers, while the KY kid is a lefty. UK also nabbed the top 3 rightys in Ohio.

UK failed to get any of the top 10 overall prospects in KY. Louisville (3), Miss State (2), Tennessee (1), Witchita State (1), Alabama (1), Virginia Tech (1), and Lincoln Trail College (1) took the top 10 players. UK's Byers was ranked 12th. 5 of those 10 were shortstops. Byers was also the only instate recruit that UK took.

Rueben Church was the best 3B in Tennessee and 8th best player overall and Jack Hicks is the best SS in NC and the 8th best player in the state overall.

The UK class is ranked 33rd overall.

Question. Where can I watch the Kentucky baseball games for next season? I think I’m gonna start watching more often.

Almost all of them air on ESPN3. At least all the home games and the SEC games.

Wasn’t aware of the first guy - must be a JUCO. Think Liebert is originally from KY before going the JC route.

First guy is a Catcher. Will have to update my rosters.

This team has a lot of catchers.

I’m a casual UK baseball fan. I know it’s difficult to predict but is it a NCAA tourney team and SEC top half roster at their best?

Doubtful. Pitching just isn't there. Will need to make great strides to make the NCAA tournament.

you’re more knowledgeable than me but I was thinking same. Pitching is unproven and lacks strong depth imo

I believe Kavanuagh is from Highlands in Ft. Thomas. SS I think but pretty small could possibly move to 2B.

This is interesting because Perfect Game lists him as being from Cincinnati, OH and ranks him as the 15th best player in Ohio. However, it lists the HS as Highlands. Prep Baseball Report lists him as being from KY and from Highlands. There are Google pictures of him wearing a Highlands uniform and wearing Kentucky at a prep showcase. So, it stands to reason that Perfect Game just has his state wrong. Maybe they looked at his club team and then decided he was from OH?

This, in reality, calls into question much of their rankings, as this would throw off some of the ranking in OH and in KY.

I also just listed him as a SS because that is the position that PG ranks him at. In reality, that middle infield is going to be pretty interchangeable.
