Rodriguez opting out

I’m sitting out as well . At Rupp arena . Will record and watch if we win. Frankly it’s not all that bad since you can FF through commercials.

On one cold football game we left at end of 1st quarter . Drove to Prospect . Started watching game FF through commercials at 2nd quarter and still watched the fourth quarter live. Kinda shows you how much time they delay the game for commercials.

Those other games mattered WAAAAAYYYY more than this bowl game. He has earned the right to sit out if he wants IMHO.

We are 7-5 and a win makes us 8-5. Not an earth shattering difference. Do I want to win, ABSOLUTELY!!! But I respect his and Will’s decision not to play.

This situation is TOTALLY different than the Citrus Bowl in 2018.
Did they? Once we were eliminated from major bowl contention none of them really mattered any more than this one.

I remember when Woodson, Burton, Johnson, and Little all played in a 7-5 Music City Bowl. Two or three of those were projected to go in the early rounds at the time. There was never a hint of them opting out and to do so would've been shocking.

Change does occur. Doesn't mean it's always a good thing.
That also happened when uk had bowled once in the last decade. These guys Bowl every year.

I don’t think his draft stock will be impacted regardless of sitting out it improbably running for 200 yards.

The biggest difference is the fact that UK hadn’t won 10 games in a season in 40 years and that group of players wanted to finish the rebuild of UK Football. BIG difference.

Josh Allen and the other players that would be drafted wanted to finish that season to make a statement about UK Football and where they all had brought the program.

This game represents now where near the stakes of that game.

Kentucky is gonna have to draw straws to see who is OC for this game.

Loser has to do it.

I can see it now on the resume.... "Led Kentucky to a 3-2 win over Iowa in his first game as OC"

or worse!

Bowls are a reward for players and fans. If players or fans do not care to participate, they don't have to.

Bowls also give a team an extra month of practice. That is always important, and especially so when so many young receivers, LBs, and DBs will be taking on more important roles in 2023. It is also possible that some of our January enrollees might get involved in classroom segments of December practices. That has happened before, and can only help the coaches get to know them and vice versa.
What a reward for fans...watching Sheron and McClain behind that Oline :)

In the end, why have these bowls. I'd rather watch blue/white game than this fiasco that is to unfold.

Josh Allan did not opt out
But I understand but also hate what this has become

Still enjoyed CRod and Levis while they was here.

No one will be watching this game. Terrible match-up, and two of our stars not playing. This will be a 3-3 tie, and that might be too many points.

Mr Chris RodleaveUS can kiss my big blue ass.
Same can be said for Mr Will LeaveUS.

Some of our very best players still played in the bowl game. So you boys can kiss ass. Wish you the worst. I mean that. I'll look your stats up in the NFL just hoping you played like shit. I don't respect skipping the bowl game.
Fudge you and your money you might make. Both of ya

Second MCB in as many years. And if you told us mid October 2007 we would be back there it would’ve been a tremendous disappointment. It was a “meaningless” game. They still played and there were no thoughts of skipping it. Again, I get change happens but this is not a positive one.

Come on man. Fans don't act like this. You can be disappointed and also understand why they're doing this.

Yeah they're doing it for money. Same money all the other players that played in the bowl games made. I forget did Josh Allen sit out of the bowl game? I don't believe he did. Benny snell? How about wandale Robinson or Lynn bowden? They set out? nope.

Screw those players for sitting out of the bowl game. I ****ing wish em every bit of the bad luck I could ever wish em and screw you for supporting their stupid idea.

This is why I pretty much disregard non-playoff bowl games from records. Tell me your 12 game record, but don’t add on a win because you beat some team who didn’t care in a meaningless bowl
That's the way it used to be. Of course back then you played your 10 regular season games and hoped you earned a bowl invite. Far fewer bowls back then. The Rose Bowl (PAC 10 Champ vs BIG 10 champ) was the only one with specific conference championship "partners."

Back in those days a bowl invitation, no matter how "small", was always a pretty big deal.

Peace

You're wishing the worst on some college kids who gave it everything they had for most of their careers here. Hell, Levis played injured a lot, and that could have easily jeopardized his future.

You should be wishing the best for both of them.

The only reason I have watched to this point is because I genuinely want UK to be as successful as they can be every year. I follow the team first, not the players. Don't get me wrong, I want them to have success when they leave UK and while they're at UK. But I don't support UK for draft night. When the players start taking money regularly and skipping out on bowl games, my interest and reasons for watching go away, because if the players aren't putting UK first, why should I.

We disagree good sir. And I'm glad.

Let me say this again screw both of them and the money they will make in the career they might have. Might. Maybe. Fudge em

Your gotdamn right.

I understand but why even play the last several games they did. If your aren’t going to finish the season why even start it. Love how you play all season and say that’s it, I’m done. Not playing that one more game, I might hurt myself. It’s laughable really.

My hope is the fans sit out.

That is not the Kentucky football team I've watched this year if it doesn't have will leaveus and Chris Rodleaveus on it.

I do really believe the whole entire money that athletes are making off of sports off of advertising off of the back of the paying customer will eventually hit a boiling point.

If the fans walk away then none of these contracts can be paid in the whole entire thing folds in on itself.
If the fans don't go we can screw them all. I mean at some point don't you have a problem with a player making 60 million in one year and you're paying $200 a ticket?

Come on how ****ing stupid are we going to be with this how long are we going to let this go how long before they're making $100 million a season? And you're paying $500 a ticket?

How long is this shit show going to continue?
Homeless in every town. rent high as hell in every city. athletes get to make 60 million a year and the corporations making $600 billion a year while we make $60,000 a year. bills that are $60,000 a year.

Lol. I just hope we all get to live long enough to see it all fall apart 😁
Here's to the return of a true Commonwealth 🕺🕺
/Rant off

Yeah. UK never bowled then. Now they bowl in 9 win games. A sign of programs success is the yawn this bowl solicits.

It’s a positive change for the players. Imagine a possible James Whalen pro career if he hadn’t got hurt in a MCB. It’s awesome when they choose to play but it’s not negative if they choose not to either imo

These lesser bowls just ain't worth the risk of injury if you have hopes for the draft.
In a sense, no bowl is worth the risk of injury. Might as well just shut all bowls down and let the players walk around in bubble wrap until draft day.

I don't really count the bowl games as part of the season. It's an extra money grab game diminished by the CFP now. They still had to play the normal season games so they could be properly scouted. Everyone knows what Will is and what Chris is at this point.

I’ll tell you what you’ve got without the fans—nothing. Without us fans attending games (ie buying tickets), buying merchandise, watching on TV, etc....these kids might as well be playing in this field across from my house. Without the fans, there are no highly paid coaches, and no scholarships. College sports is being destroyed, and the fans are gonna revolt pretty soon by tuning out.

That is a two way street.
What would college football be without the players?

-c-rod doesn't owe me shit*. He gave all he had when he was on the field. His future is more important than my entertainment.

*would posit that ive given as much/more time and money to UK football than 90% of those bitching about this.

-non cfp bowls are about *next years* team...young guys getting reps.

Maybe that’s what teams in all non playoff bowl games should do—if you’re not gonna be on the team next year, you don’t play in the bowl game. I could go for that

Levi’s has been a projected first rounder all season long, despite not quite performing up to the standards we all expected. He really didn’t have to play much at all this season especially after sitting out to injury. So again why come back and play at all once you are projected to go where you would like to go. Everyone says these lesser bowl games are meaningless, well so are the playoffs in regards to the nfl draft and the season in general for the players that are already projected in the first few rounds so again why play at all?

I don't know how NIL deals are drawn up. But I like the idea of having a clause in it to finish the season and play in a bowl game.
I think I read somewhere that NIL deals can't have performance or games played clauses in them.

The kids still want to win championships for the most part. Those games get a lot more attention, etc. Say what you want, but Levis shutting the the season down way early could have raised some red flags in multiple areas. There's also just little appeal to butthole bowl games these days.

Its pretty obvious you dont have it all together. I hope you can figure it out at some point.
