We all knew it was coming after Levis’ decision.

The bowl game will truly be a feast for the eyes!

Love CROD but does the NFL? Haven’t seen any projections on his draft status. Would think a 5th rounder at best.

Man the writing was on the wall and I just sat on my ass instead of hammering Iowa’s points. Oh well.

Hopefully the defense comes to play as we may not score a point without Levis and CRod.

He should’ve become the all-time leading rusher. Alas. . . .

Ya we were lucky to get him at all. First he should've selfishly left last year. Then after surprising us all with returning, the admin insanely rules him ineligible and took 3 games to get him reinstated.

I don't like it either, but he's definitely given enough to the program. Especially for someone that probably should've left two years ago

These bowls are pretty meaningless for these guys so I get it. With the playoff expanding we are gonna see more and more of this. Outside of New years 6 bowls there are too many crap bowls and even though the stats count they are a step up from nfl preseason at this point.

These lesser bowls just ain't worth the risk of injury if you have hopes for the draft.

It sure is a hell of a time to be without an offensive coordinator.

IA has also lost some players, including their two top QBs. Maybe they would like Deuce Hogan back. LOL.

I will have to wait and see who is participating on both sides before I have a better grasp of this game. But I will have to give the preliminary edge to IA on the basis of their OL, ironic since they are known for their defense. With a month of practices for prep, it isn't impossible for UK to rise up and make a strong showing. But some of our guys who did not play well during the season will have to put on their big boy pants and play their butts off on Dec. 31. Is it conceivable that Scangarello's absence might actually help in this one game? That sounds like something out of the box, but maybe so. Good test for Scott Woodward. I won't get my hopes up. LOL.

It was expected at this point. Let the Bowl game be a showcase for our backups to get some experience for next year. Heck, it’s the Music City Bowl and we’re 7-5.

Looking forward to see some young guys get to play.

Imo our bowl games are always entertaining because it's the one time a year when stoops actually let's his people get creative.

No way regular season stoops goes for 2 vs northwestern last time we were in the mcb

Use the prep time as another Spring practice, could pay off long term.

As for CRod, thanks for all your efforts as you were a joy to watch. Sorry for the shitty treatment by your own school admin.

How bad would it be if C Rod was injured in this bowl game?? It would be HORRIBLE!!!

Don’t blame him or his agent for the decision to sit out. Best of luck in the NFL Draft!!

Why are these players playing the season to make a bowl game and then sit out ??
If I had to guess, it’s probably because there’s something to play for in the regular season like spots in the conference standings, a chance to win rivalry games, etc.

Even though a lot of our fans seem to really care about them (I’m personally more ambivalent), these low tier bowl games are really just glorified exhibition games between two mediocre teams tacked on to the end of the season. There’s nothing won or lost other than pride, and even then, nobody nationally is paying attention to some of these games. I honestly understand why the players who are expecting an NFL future have a hard time caring about these games.

Or any other game of the season for that matter!

Injuries can happen at any time.
Those other games mattered WAAAAAYYYY more than this bowl game. He has earned the right to sit out if he wants IMHO.

We are 7-5 and a win makes us 8-5. Not an earth shattering difference. Do I want to win, ABSOLUTELY!!! But I respect his and Will’s decision not to play.

This situation is TOTALLY different than the Citrus Bowl in 2018.

Eddie Gran will probably be the OC for the bowl game. He will alternate Brown and Key at QB and UK will probably rush for 300 yds and throw 1 incomplete pass.

UK 21 - Iowa 20
This may be sarcasm. Eddie Gran will not be the OC for the bowl game, but I would expect Stoops to seek his thoughts on scheme options with Levis, Rodriguez, and Scangarello being gone. The smart move is to turn the offense over to Scott Woodward for the bowl, with Gran as an advisor.

Bowls are a reward for players and fans. If players or fans do not care to participate, they don't have to.

Bowls also give a team an extra month of practice. That is always important, and especially so when so many young receivers, LBs, and DBs will be taking on more important roles in 2023. It is also possible that some of our January enrollees might get involved in classroom segments of December practices. That has happened before, and can only help the coaches get to know them and vice versa.

I love the programming about "these lesser bowls are meaningless" among our fans. If they read or hear it 3 times it becomes a mantra these days. Used to be "you can't recruit 4 and 5 star players to Kentucky." Then "best UK can hope for is to finish with 7 victories and go bowling now and then." Then it was "Stoops has reached his ceiling" for each of the years he kept increasing victories over 6 wins. This whole year it was "the OL is horrible" when it was being wrongly blamed for every team mistake and loss.

It's cute

If you are worried about injury and hurting your draft stock then why even play another game once you are projected to go in a round you are happy with. If this is your take then why is playing in the playoffs worth the risk?

Tyler Goodson who was Iowa's running back last year opted out of the Citrus Bowl. He went undrafted. Granted he did make a practice squad eventually, but some of these kids could prove a lot more in bowl games for draft status.

The bowl games themselves might be pointless, but the practices and extra reps for freshman and other players are not, that’s why bowls are important because of the extra reps

I remember when Woodson, Burton, Johnson, Tamme, and Little all played in a 7-5 Music City Bowl. Two or three of those were projected to go in the early rounds at the time. There was never a hint of them opting out and to do so would've been shocking.

Change does occur. Doesn't mean it's always a good thing.
