Pope would never do something as petty as what Barnes did to publicly throw his player under the bus like that. Things like that can wreck a team.
Here's hoping! 🍻Things like that can wreck a team.
Cal didn't care what that kid was getting paid. He kept him on the bench the whole time. 🤣I could have used this line from Cal and Shaedon Sharpe.
NIL should be per game no play no pay
IIRC, Sharp got a huge NIL deal with that Louisville Porsche dealer. Has that dealer been actively donating to our NIL since then?Cal didn't care what that kid was getting paid. He kept him on the bench the whole time. 🤣
The point is that Rick actually cares about the TEAM, Cal cares about the DRAFT PICK. What the player is getting paid is irrelevant.Cal didn't care what that kid was getting paid. He kept him on the bench the whole time. 🤣
Hopefully, Barnes gets sick of NIL and retires.
This is as good as UT has been in a while. Odds are against them getting someone better.I hope not… then UT might actually get a coach who wins in March.
Absolutely agree. They had been to only one elite eight in school history before last year. Chances are the next coach won’t be nearly what Barnes is and has been for them. This is as good as UT has been in a while. Odds are against them getting someone better.
If we come to the point of actually trading players, then the whole "education" aspect needs to be removed from the equation. Take them out of classes (unless they want to pay for their own education), and replace the school cheerleaders with their professional counterparts. Just make it "professional sports coming to your campus".NIL is a two edged sword. When players get paid to play they lose the protection of being amateurs. Coaches are afraid to call them out because they will leave, that will slowly change. The media and the average fan are still caught up in these are just kids and insulated from criticism mindset. I think both perceptions will change over time. Why not be able to trade players during the season, we are only a short distance from that right now. Nil has taken the lid off a huge can of worms, there are no rules. Money ,accountability and criticism are(or should be) on the table. The only thing off the table is amateurism and anything attached or related to that status.
I'm just waiting for SEC schools to look at this year's garbage football results and siphon money away from basketball to prop up the sport that makes more money. That first round Tennessee performance is probably eating at them. 😂Absolutely agree. They had been to only one elite eight in school history before last year. Yep, hoping the same. If the SEC starts going all in on football, we can seize the opportunity. Thankfully at least most of us in this fanbase are reasonable enough to know we aren’t Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma etc in football. The NIL football numbers are only gonna get more insane.I'm just waiting for SEC schools to look at this year's garbage football results and siphon money away from basketball to prop up the sport that makes more money. Eventually, every university is going to have to have these kids sign contracts for the bigger NIL deals.NIL is a two edged sword.
