I understand all about opinions , but I think it's a load of garbage that these guys have to take a game off to rest !
I've never been to an NBA game but I can imagine how pi$$ed I'd be if I paid out big bucks to watch a bunch of shrubs play! It's not like they really "work" for a living !
I understand injuries but rest............come on.....MAN UP !!!

We used to see a lot of old tendinitis excuse back before teams were honest about what they were doing. They always claimed injury or illness to rest guys. It does suck for paying fans though. Had some friends drive up to Cleveland only to have them rest Lebron and Kyrie this year.

Paid small fortune for lowers to the Warriors/Pelicans game the other night...Curry, Davis, and Boogie all sat due to "injuries." It's just a gamble buying tix so close to the playoffs anymore, but figured with so much star power between the two it was worth the risk even if one or two did sit. Pretty disappointing that it was those 3 even though Klay, Green, and Durant all still played.

They play a "game" 3 times a week or so and its not even all year round.
I wish I could sit out and rest at my jobs that are actual "work" whenever I got tired of the grind and they are all year round.

Jordan in his first 9 years missed 7 games and had one season with a major injury not included
Steph Curry has missed 25 in his first 8 years with one year with a major injury not included.

The whole NBA in 2017 is softer. 90s teams would murderlize and prison rape the warriors, cavs anybody. Dennis Rodman would have D Bag Green in tears.

It's no different than going to an MLB game and the player you went to see got a "routine day off" Happened to me on numerous occasions. I remember being on vacation in Kansas City in the mid 90s with my family and we bought tickets to a Royals vs. Mariners game for the sole purpose of watching Ken Griffey Jr. He was given the day off. Ish happens.

And bad NBA teams have started shutting er' down in March if they think they can increase their lottery odds.

Bought my son Cavs-Pacers tickets as a Christmas present last basketball season because he's a big Lebron fan. We're eating dinner in Indy an hour before the game and hear Lebron isn't playing due to rest. I'll never forget seeing him tearing up when we got the news. It pisses me off even typing this. They have a moral obligation to play if they can play.

No they don't to be honest. Plus, a lot of times it isn't even the players call. The coaching staff probably sits them. Sorry that happened but that is life.

It certainly is life. As psalmist says, don't put your trust in princes. I've learned my lesson. But they should play if they can play. To not do so is wrong, regardless of whose call it is.

Somewhere Karl Malone is giggling at the concept of "rest". He never missed more than 5 games in any season until his last with the Lakers. Only once did John Stockton miss more than 4 games in a season.

And all these old players had shorter careers. It's also proven that rest is proven to help long term performance. Most of the rest is on back to backs and end of the season.

If that's so then they should shorten the season instead of ripping off the fans who buy tickets.

I agree. Sorry to hear about your sons experience. Hope you guys still made the best of it.

Back in early March, the Warriors rested Curry, Klay, Green, Iggy, and an injured Durant against the Spurs. Would've seriously lost my ish if I wouldve had tix to that one.

Lebron has already played more minutes in 14 seasons then Jordan did in 15, he at least I think has earned the right to rest....now the ones like Curry, Irving and other younger guys are a different story

Or just start the season earlier to get rid of back to backs but rest will still happen at the end of the season. You are playing with fire if you go

I would be mad too if I paid that much money to watch "shrubs" play when I could go to Lowe's and watch them for free! Lol J/K. I definitely see your point.

The real question is how the sites list them. Maybe instead of DNP coaches decision or DNP Rest, they could just be honest and put DNP Tanking.

Rest is effective.

That's why all the players career has been extended.

Too many team can easily make the play off,
too many games meaningless games are played in regular season,
and too long of a playoff makes up the issue.

I'm not only okay with it, I think it's clearly the smart move. But you can't explain that to people who work really hard at a job they hate for less money than they deserve.

I get it, I do, but it isn't LeBron's fault that he's an irreplaceable commodity that can shift the financial structure of an entire city/state and we're cogs in a machine.

Besides, it's only a handful of guys in a handful of situations. If you think whatever line of work you're in doesn't have the top 0.0001% getting cushy perks and benefits while you work hard with no breaks, you aren't paying attention.

Not to mention, the science behind it has proven to increase performance and lengthen careers. If you're really such a fan of a player or team, you'll trade six nights off during meaningless games to see an increased chance at a title and extra years on a player's career.

It has also given a lot of young guys a shot they may not have had otherwise. Our boy Tyler Ulis is getting to shine because the Suns have shut down Bledsoe since they're out of contention and trying to tank.

Have no problem with the rest days but believe it can be handled differently.

As someone stated above, many of these games are scheduled rest days for the players off back to backs, travel etc. I'm sure the franchise has a lot of these rest days pencilled in WAY before the day of which imo should be known to the paying public WAY in advance as well. Maybe an asterisk by certain games stating "potential rest game" would be sufficient. Ready made promotions, giveaways, etc would also be a nice touch.

Let's not kid ourselves and act like a LeBron and Kyrie less Cavs or a Warriors team that rests all their starters is the same product that the consumer initially invested in when they dropped a couple hundred bucks for tix. Its not.
