Now we've reached the point where players are willing to take extra school work to get away from Kentucky, even when they're promised 25 to 30 minutes a game. Good times in Lexington.
Even by the low, low standards of struggling bloggers with no real information, that was an embarrassingly empty, overhyped nothingburger.
And it was from May 24th.

And all Reeves will get here next year is cigar minutes.
He’s knows it too. If he even had one iota of thought that he could play 20 minutes a game here he would return.
The days of washed up transfers playing major minutes here are over. That was a failed experiment.

What the heck? I think you might be the only person who thinks Reeves wouldn't play next year. He would get smarter minutes if he isn't starting. You need to evaluate your thought processes.
Cigar minutes my ass. We have 3 freshmen guards and only 2 of them are gonna play big minutes. Reeves would get 25 to 28 minutes next season.
If he wants to leave that badly, then show him the door and wish him well in his NBA journey lol. Cal needs to put on his big boy britches and say enough is enough, everyone is going to compete for playing time and if you don't want to do that then the YMCA is just down the street.
There is no way in hell that Reeves is going to play 25 to 28 minutes a game if he stays at UK. He is a terrible defensive player. He does not handle the ball that well. He is a very inconsistent shooter. He might not get 20 minutes a game if he comes back.
If Reeves comes back, takes summer classes, and transfers out before the season starts, that would be a terrible look. Maybe worse than Shady Sharpe situation. I would be shocked if that happens.
How was 2024? Did we have a good year? What year are you living in now? Did we ever make it Mars?
And the fact that CCC never promises minutes is LAUGHABLE! Every freshman for ' 23, but Sheppard, has been/was promised minutes. Bank on it.

Really? Certainly sounds like something CCC would allow. After SS, nothing is off the table in this program.
I think he SHOULD get that many minutes.
But I think Cal would play him 15-20.
Go look at his minutes in SEC games prior to the injury/quitting big last season (and the Mich State game riding the bench down the stretch when we needed buckets). Cal had him playing 13-17 minutes and was essentially just a “go get a couple shots up” guy. The injuries forced Cals hand. The one game we had our full roster back (UF at home) Cal played him 17 min again.
Reeves knows Cal is going to prioritize developing the hyped up freshman for their draft day

A bit on a rearview mirror take but if you kind of knew/thought Reeves would be back and Toppin would be gone, why not give Reeves the AT&T exposure? He was better than JT last year.

No it wouldn't. He wants ro play in the NBA. He may feel like he can't afford to be a backup to some freshman guards.

If Reeves comes back, he will get starter minutes, whether he starts or not.
Dillingham, Wagner, Edwards, and Reeves are going to be the main rotation guys at 1-3 spots. That’s the better part of 120 minutes to split 4 ways, which will put them all at close to 30 minutes a game, in most games.
You have to think a fifth year Senior who shot close to 40% from 3 last year would definitely see minutes on a team filled with Freshmen that are average shooters at best.
We are going to need his leadership. The smart move for Cal would be to start him with Wagner, Edwards, Bradshaw, and (hopefully) Tshiebwe. The young backcourt will need a steadying influence. Bring Dillingham off the bench, unless he proves to be too good to not start.

Yeah I'm sure those guys were told they were going to get there shot and told they have minutes available for them but that doesn't mean 40 min a game. I think in a big part some of our next year's class know they are good enough where they will deserve minutes. (Wagner and Edwards)
This doesn't mean that there won't be any minutes for Reeves if he comes back because there most certainly will be. The freshman don't expect to play 40 minutes a game. Reeves would flourish in his own way if he does come back but that's a big if from the sound of things.

We need a damn starting caliber SHOOTING guard that can MAKE some 3s. These calipari clones can't be real UK fans.
You gotta toss Reed in there too into that r rotation. He’s better than dillingham imo and better than reeves. Reed has better handles than reeves actually he at times reminds me of shai with his ball handling and vision. On dilingham he’s more consistent From the perimeter and will probably play a more controlled game. He’s gonna end up 25 mpg with that we have next year even with reeves.
The other thing is I don’t want to hang leadership hopes on reeves. We are gonna have alot or weapons and I don’t want reeves playing hero ball. We had possibly 2 top 5 picks on the team. At least 2 top 10 picks. The ball has to go through those guys for game on the line points. Maybe reeves isn’t the right fit with what we have coming in. He’s too used to now being a go to guy when in fact we want edward and Wagner as our primary weapons. Idk i think reeves is replaceable. While he helped us last year I thought he was a poor add given the guys who were available last year.
None of it probably matters though bc cal will screw things up even if we had 5 mjs
