He is currently one of the favorites along with McClain and Carroll. Steer is even in consideration. Doesn't matter if EDLC wins it or not, his stats so far are on par with Otani who is now already being considered one of the all time greats. Those stats go against your constant dismissal of him as under achieving. Trolls gonna troll I guess.
False. Look betting odds. He is currently 4th in odds for ROY. Sounds like a favorite to me. You, who claims he should be sent back to the minors with numbers comparable to Ohtani’s rookie year, calling anyone clueless is laughable at best. I hate laughing at you when I should feel bad for you being as pathetic as you are. Your dog probably looks at you and shakes his head in sad disbelief at how much of a sad little man you are. Clueless is what you are looking back at you in the mirror. No, he isn't a favorite at all, and you're truly clueless.
Who knew a Rookie would have a slump? That has never happened in the history of baseball. How do you breathe with your head so far up your ass?Reds have struck out 58 times last 5 games.
EDC now hitting .196 in August, while striking out 42% of the time (41 times/97 ab's)
Hopkins specifically has looked completely overmatched in nearly every plate appearance. His swings and misses seem 2 feet away from the ball at times.Senzel, Fairchild, Hopkins......Reds never had a chance.
They definitely don't look like they are playing as loose as they were earlier in the season. I don't know if they are putting pressure on themselves or if it is coming from the organization. Whatever it is, they need to get back to playing and having fun like they were.Hopkins specifically has looked completely overmatched in nearly every plate appearance. Yep, there is nothing to be gained demoting him to the minors as there is nothing left to prove in Louisville and development doesn't happen riding the bench. Live game experience will do it and it is absolute bullshit to suggest delaying the future for the promising prospects like him letting this linger on in seasons to come or work through it now. Not saying he won't still have plate discipline issues next year or make errors in the field but that's all apart of the development process. Only idiots can't see that.He needs to improve but I'm not understanding an argument to bench or demote EDLC. This guy will having growing pains like any other young player but why not learn MLB here in the majors? The future is now.

You’ve reached epic levels of awful here but haven’t been demoted. Between this and the god awful understanding about JT being picked for the Ryder Cup, you should be demoted. You are constantly one of the worst posters on this board who evidently knows nothing about multiple sports.A playoff race is not the time to "learn", and your statement I have put in bold is completely false, especially for someone as green as EDC, and who has reached epic levels of awful at the plate.
Your posts on a daily basis continue to be the stupidest bullshit I have ever read on CI and that's saying something. Congratulations!A playoff race is not the time to "learn", and your statement I have put in bold is completely false, especially for someone as green as EDC, and who has reached epic levels of awful at the plate.
And I know this is low-hanging fruit but it's EDLC not 'EDC'. Get it right if you are going to blast him as much as you do, should know that by now.A playoff race is not the time to "learn", and your statement I have put in bold is completely false, especially for someone as green as EDC, and who has reached epic levels of awful at the plate.
Playoff race? The Reds may as well be done and are running out of steam. Zero reason to not continue the rebuild which is the plan over contending this year and let the rookies play it out as there are no better alternatives within the organization at this time.A playoff race is not the time to "learn", and your statement I have put in bold is completely false, especially for someone as green as EDC, and who has reached epic levels of awful at the plate.
While Cincinnati is still very much in play for the Wildcard Race, there is very little margin for error this late in the season and their fortunes have to change soon to stay in the hunt. The division is not realistic 7 games out, even for Chicago right now would need some help 5 games back.Reds struggles of late should come as no surprise to anyone. They were playing out of their minds from late May-early July until the Brewers exposed them. A slump was inevitable. Far from a finished product and they have a lot of work to do. Can only weather the storm so long with the injuries on this team and expecting the bullpen to pick up the slack in the midst of the injuries all year to the starting rotation. Lucky to be where they are at this point in the season still contending despite trending downwards. There is reason to be encouraged though about 2024 and if the team can stars next season out healthy.
That's the most people I've ever seen cut in a day this time of year at least of prominent names than I can recall. Cleveland parted ways with Noah Syndergaard too.Tony Santillan designated for assignment to free up a roster spot on the 40-man roster, I'm sure he will be re-assigned once he is outrighted back to Louisville. Alejo Lopez called up, Siani sent down. A purge of Major League talent getting cut today. Carlos Carrasco, Lucas Giolito, Hunter Renfroe, Mike Clevinger, old ass Josh Donaldson, Reynaldo Lopez, Matt Moore, Harrison Bader, Randal Grichuk. Matt Moore could help this bullpen immensely. Even Lopez would help.
Losing Greene and Lively when they were pitching at their best, then afterward India, Fraley and McLain was a slow painful death that Bell had no control over. I'll continue to be critical but I still think he deserved an extension. Perhaps the length (3 years) is suspect though. They definitely don't look like they are playing as loose as they were earlier in the season. I don't know if they are putting pressure on themselves or if it is coming from the organization. Whatever it is, they need to get back to playing and having fun like they were.
I also think that contract extension for Bell was a mistake. I am not saying a change needed to be made but he really has shown nothing to warrant that extension. He took advantage of a team that got hot and I don't think he had much to do with it. Now, he continues to misuse the pitching staff both starters and relievers while making other crazy lineup decisions.
Still a pathetic performance by this offense for 1 run, 1 hit and 1 BB is not going to cut it. Cobb pitched a great game and went over 130 pitches. Giesenschlag said Cobb's August ERA was 6.50, not good.Haha Steer ended the no-hitter!
Thought Brantley fired a shot last night about potential help. The comment was made that help could be had via the waiver wire and Brantley said something like: "But you have to pay for it." Struck me that he hinted the Reds were too cheap to pursue some of those guys. We'll see because if you want to add those guys to a playoff roster they need to be signed by Sept 1.While Cincinnati is still very much in play for the Wildcard Race, there is very little margin for error this late in the season and their fortunes have to change soon to stay in the hunt. Maybe the Reds could take advantage of some of these waiver wire scraps that won't cost any prospects if they clear waivers to give them a shot in the arm down the stretch. Money aside, I would not mind lone of those outfielders with Renfroe having some power with 31 HR & 96 RBIs 2 years ago to run into a pitch at GABP, even Grichuk or Bader would be nice off the bench than a Hopkins, Senzel, Martini who is a nice story for now, Siani, Ramos or Fairchild if the Reds wanted to make a last ditch effort to try to get in the postseason this year. Not sure how Fraley who needs surgery is even going to be playing with a broken toe not at 100% considering Aaron Judge missed a couple of months with a similar injury.
As the Reds currently built, I see them fading away at the end and not holding my breath on an outfielder being added for bench depth. Giolito has not been good for Anaheim though Cincinnati may seriously consider him or Clevinger to rest these rookies on a pitch count and allow them to be skipped a start, Greene not at full strength too and those relievers would be an upgrade with your bullpen gassed. Still not getting my hopes up but it would be sorry to not at least grab one of those relief pitchers.
LOL Sadak. Called that hit as if it were the game winner, bottom of 9th, 7th game of WS. Earth to Sadak: Reds lost.Haha Steer ended the no-hitter!

Heard that too and he is exactly right. Reds wouldn't have to part with prospects if they clear the waiver wire. At this point it's stubbornness and being cheap if they don't. Anaheim also let reliever Jacob Webb go earlier this month who has a 1.86 ERA through 11 games slide all the way to Baltimore. Think we know how this FO is going to handle it but would like to be pleasantly surprised. Zero excuse at this point not to try to get Clevinger or any of the Angels players. As long as they are on the roster before September 1st, would be eligible for October. Late August additions can certainly help teams.Thought Brantley fired a shot last night about potential help. I admire a guy like Lopez who plays within his talents but he really does nothing for me and brings nothing to the Reds offense. He's a career minor leaguer, you could drive the back roads of Puerto Rico on a Sunday afternoon and find these guys a dime a dozen. Reds have shit on Barrero but WTH, they have Senzel, Fairchild, Hopkins.Heard that too and he is exactly right. Reds wouldn't have to part with prospects if they clear the waiver wire. I've been as critical of Jose Barrero as anyone but this is one of the few times if you are going to call up an infielder and have Jose Barrero in the system, I wish they had just called him up when he is going to be up here in a couple days anyways. See if anything has changed since going back down. Lopez may be a solid contact hitter but he brings nothing to the plate in terms of power potential. I doubt he even sees the field much if any. Barrero even stole near as many bases in fewer minor league at-bats. I just don't get some of these roster acquisitions. I'd forget Lopez, take him off the 40-man roster with the surplus of infield prospects and add some of these waiver wire players. With the candidates out there, no one is busting down doors to steal Lopez and even if they do, big deal! he's a dime a dozen player who will just get buried with the infield depth here. Likely would be able to outright him but no Cincinnati calls him up to the Major League team. Reynolds would have made more sense if not Barrero.
Not sure people know but the Reds are something like 0-12 in games Senzel's started since his whiny media complaint about PT. Doubt Reds beat writers give that a second look.
Good bounce back win after only getting 1 hit yesterday and then ending the trip at 5-5.Needed to see this out of Hunter Greene. 5 1/3, 0 earned runs, 3 hits & 1 BB. 4 hits, 3 RBIs for CES. All said and done I suppose the Reds could be in worse position. Have to take advantage of the opportunity vs the Cubs and start winning at home. EDLC 2 runs scores, 2 hits and made one helluva play on that 2nd out throw to Steer. 35 saves for Diaz now.
He's a work in progress but love the defensive range EDLC has out there. Once he gets settled in he's going to be a good for a long time. Also, the double steal with EDLC and Steer taking home was huge.Good bounce back win after only getting 1 hit yesterday and then ending the trip at 5-5.
Good bounce back performances by CES, Greene, Elly and Diaz after struggling recently.
They had 2 errors but overall they did enough on defense to save the pitching staff with at least 3 great plays.
