Reds

Steer breaking up the no-no with 2 outz in the 9th was the point where the Reds season turned back around to the positive.
They win the next day and instead of being 3 out of 3rd Wildcard they are within 1 gm of the Giants.
Gigantic win for Cincinnati. 5-5 road trip.
Now 4 straight in Cincy v the Cubs.
Place will be sold out all 4 gms as Reds trail Cubs by just 3 games for 2nd WC.

Yep...they went into the locker room higher than the Giants. They need to have more 1 hitters thrown against them!!!!!

Wow!! Bader a gold glove outfielder to shore up the defense and Renfroe with some massive power. 31 HR & 96 RBIs just 2 years ago. Unfortunately the pitchers Cincinnati needed, Cleveland hogged them all. Clevinger is still out there. Cleveland 6 games below .500, 5 games out in a weaker division had waiver priority over Cincinnati on them.

^^^they are both better than anyone the Reds have now (especially Fairchild and Hopkins) and Renfroe should immediately be the starting RF/LF for the rest of the season.

Never would have thought the Reds add both but am glad they did. Clevinger should be added. These young pitchers need a start(s) skipped, you could leave Lively in a role like he had vs Arizona eating multiple innings in relief or Clevinger in this role if not starting to give the rest of the bullpen some additional games off if they are to have any run in October. Really only need 4 starters if a team makes it to October. At this point you have to proceed as if Lodolo is not apart of the equation. He's been out so long it's like returning from the offseason going into Spring Training.

Very disappointed that a Guardians team going nowhere snagged all of those pitchers before coming to Cincinnati. Still maintain the Reds should have signed Jacob Webb that Anaheim let go earlier this month that fell all the way to Baltimore in the waiver wire. Had a chance for 2 more relievers and Cleveland pulls this. Can't blame them for improving their team but it's frustrating when they are in worse position than the Reds well below .500 in the garbage AL Central.

Clevinger cleared waivers, he's staying with the White Sox. This is the team the Reds have going forward. Alejo Lopez & Michael Siani both designated for assignment to make room for Renfroe & Bader.

Had hoped the Reds would've signaled their desire to win by DFAing Senzel, guess they're not there yet. At least by signing these two they're putting an end to Senzel's outfield misadventures.

It's absolutely incredible to be above .500, 1 game out of a Wild Card spot going into September 1st. All of that said, should have acquired a veteran starting pitcher since they appear to be going for it adding players today. Reds have had to depend on multiple rookies who need to be rested for the stretch run plus all of the injuries the Reds have dealt with in the rotation all year long. Pacing your young pitchers giving them proper rest without so much pressure each and every start with a veteran pitcher to pick up the slack would have helped not to mention someone to mentor the young guys.

Cincinnati in the end viewed this season as more than just a rebuild being this far in the season by the additions they made today with veterans like Bader & Renfroe because they still want to get to the postseason. Otherwise, teams don't add these guys if it's 100% all about rebuilding. Still wish they had been more proactive before the deadline when they were 1st in the Central instead of fooling around with Luke Weaver. Needed more quality bullpen arms as much as anything. Chapman went for next to nothing to Texas and didn't even try to claim Jacob Webb. Guardians piss me off going nowhere and taking the pitchers we needed. Straight up traded Amed Rosario for Syndergaard, then released him. Thor has been garbage for years now and traded a solid position player in Rosario away for him. What the hell are they doing?

Anaheim has to be the most impatient organization in the entire league to give up all of those prospects just to waive everyone. Have a history of throwing money at bad contracts, deplete their farm system and wonder why they are losing ever since 2015. Ohtani would be foolish to return to that organization. 2 of the best players in the game and I think Mike Trout has only been a part of 2 winning seasons in his career.

Senzel, Fairchild, Hopkins....all should have been on a one way ticket out.

You now go w/ Renfroe, Friedl, Bader (LHP) and either Benson or Fraley (when back) against RHP.

Sad to say, but EDC is going to be in the 3rd spot for the rest of the year. 40% K rate has to be a record for that spot in the order.

Everyone's HOF SS is now 4 for his last 32 with 13 K's. He has no business in the show at this time, but he'll get his usual blind squirrel home run soon so Sadak can scream.

Yawn. We get it. You don’t like EDLC. No one cares. You come here when he’s in a slump (which everyone goes through) but disappear when he gets hot or does something good. NO ONE CARES!!!

I hope they get rid of this City Connect bullshit next year. It's ugly and barely anything Red about it considering they are the Reds and tired of it being shoved in our faces every Friday home game.

I like the idea of wearing a throwback uniform on occasion throughout the season. When they did it back in 2019 quite a bit it was awesome to see unforms comeback from over the years. Diamondbacks & Marlins often wear their uniforms from the 90s & 2000s as an alternate.

Reds make 12 moves today in total.
Deja Vu. Hunter Greene has a great game and back to the IL.
Lively back to the IL as well.
Fernando Cruz also goes on IL.
Antone, Fraley and Bader activated.
Good to have Fraley & Antone return to the Reds. Can't catch a break with Lively & Greene just as soon as they're back, gone again. At least not an injury.

My David Bell rant for today. First game of a double dip he loads his lineup with rightys facing the lefty. So when he lifts Ashcraft after 72 pitches and 2 men on in the 6th, you figure he's playing the lefty on lefty matchup. But No!!! He goes with Sims who gives up a 2-run single on the first pitch.

Then in the 7th he plays Martini at 1st and moves CES to 3rd, only to move Martini to LF and CES back to 1st in the 8th. I guess I just don't like the inconsistency.

All in all, Bell plays 13 position players in the first game loss of a double header.
3 at 3rd base.
2 at 1st.
2 in LF.
2 in CF.
4 PH.

Only Steer, EDLC, Renfroe and Stephenson played one position the whole game. Remember that MLB September roster expansion is only 2 guys now and there's still another game to play today.

Part of why I question that extension he received. He makes insane lineup decisions like this way too often.

Richardson is over 90 pitches in game 2 but Ashcraft was done after 72 in game 1. But the biggest difference is he brings in the lefty now to face the Cubs switch hitter Happ.

The players seem to like playing for him but damn he doesn’t seem to know how to actually manage the lineup and team. He makes way too many head scratchers.

Often wonder how many of the decisions are being micromanaged from above in the Front Office and shit rolling down hill. No way of knowing for sure.

He just had a shit 2 months. He never gets hot. You're truly clueless.

Batter late than never. Reds win 3-2!

Correct me if I'm wrong but 1 more win this weekend and the Reds win the wildcard tiebreaker over the Cubs.

Yes, Sadak said during a game in the Arizona series that the Reds would need to secure 2 wins this series to be able to take advantage of a tiebreaker. Reds are 6-5 vs the Cubs this season.

Giants lost. Tied for the last spot with Arizona. Need Baltimore the best team in the AL to win this series vs the D'Backs.

Oh no. A rookie has struggles. The world is ending. You are a damn joke regardless of thread. Here, Ryder Cup, political thread. It doesn’t matter which one it is. You wouldn’t know a correct thought if it bit you on the ass. You hope to be clueless one day because that would be an enormous improvement from what you are currently.

I wonder if Cole is gonna say anything about that. I’m guessing not. He will be back the next time he goes 1 for 4 though I’m sure.

Go back and read my posts...he has one decent game a week and the ignorant Sadak's of the world scream from the mountaintop.

He sucks, and his fielding is getting worse as well.
