Reds

Would have been the perfect night for an EDLC or CES debut. Packed house against the division leader.
A large segment of this fan base without Apple TV would have completely missed their debut. It was a nice crowd considering it is the Reds and letting people know in advance would have been an even larger crowd.

Offense paltry, pitching was good enough to win, Williamson encouraging.
Cruz hasn't done much since coming off the IL and was a large part of the early season struggles the bullpen was having. Duarte having a fine season with the Bats and an impressive spring training. Deserves a callup at some point. Herget & Cruz shouldn't get too comfortable with the relievers that the Reds will be getting back in the coming weeks.

Add Salazar to that list too.

Senzel, Fairchild, Newman a combined 0 for 15 didn't help.

It's about time. 3 more to go (EDLC, CES & Abbott). Not expecting anyone else to realistically get called up this year but those 3 barring some surprise debut or a relief pitcher. Unless Hopkins did not get into Cincinnati on time, he isn't in the lineup today. Hit .341 at Louisville and think a lot of casual Reds fans have no idea who he is and what he can do for this lineup.

UGH! Fairchild's throw from CF on the Tellez base hit may be the worst I've ever seen from a ML CF.

Ashcraft is really struggling right now. If he's not injured and doesn't get things figured out in a hurry, he may need to be optioned to Louisville to get things figured out and call up Abbott.

10 earned runs, get him out Bell. Not even fair to Ashcraft at this point.
Larkin says Bell sending the message to Ashcraft leaving him out there 'You're my guy' when in all reality it is because he's taxed the Reds bullpen 2 months into the season. Reds got their mouth punched this series and the dose of reality is in. Another take one for the team giving up 10 runs by a Reds starter like Cessa with 11 vs the Phillies.

Salazar took one for the team as much as anyone. Pitched 3 innings, 39 pitches, 1 hit & 0 BB. Still new and gets more leeway just getting called up than the career minor league journeymen the Reds have had to entertain recently.

Ashcraft needs a vacation to Louisville. Just pitiful lately. Reds score eight runs and still can't win.

I think Bell's mound visit, Bell's dugout discussion with Ashcraft and Larkin's subtle hints showed Ashcraft's problems are between the ears.

Like the call up of Hopkins....if he gets in the line up. But the shoddy treatment of EDLC/CES is stunning. Reds, a sub-.500 team in MLB's weakest division, are enamored with lineups heavy with .250s singles hitters instead of building with power hitters. This isn't as complicated as the FO is making it.

Abbot called up to start Monday

Currently at the Louisville Bats game watching Votto, EDLC and CES bat in that order. But losing 4-0. Adam Duvall hit a homer on his rehab assignment. Whole group here cheering him on just down from us.

Greene skipping a start with a sore butt.

Reds continue to roll out their lineup of .250s singles hitters while ignoring the young power hitters. Barrero a GS in Boston, then sit for 4 days.

Lyon Richardson needs to take his spot in Louisville and consider calling up Levi Stoudt again. To hell with those pretending like Luke Weaver and his 5.00 ERA is actually good for this team. That's a losing mindset that does nothing for the future of the Reds and looks like the rest of the league caught up to Lively now. If you're going to go all in on the rebuild, just do it and stop half-assing the attempt. Get the development growing pains over with sooner.

Reds FO aren't interested in development, they're interested in status quo. We know Lively/Weaver will never hold up over 162 games but they aren't willing to deal for quality SPs. Maybe off season they'll surprise us.

It's nauseating how they try to fine a silver line in everything like Lively going 7 to give the bullpen some rest. Great! Was it a quality start? 5 runs, no it was not. Whenever the Reds get a quality start, they hardly make it past the 6th inning. About to get swept and this team is nowhere near ready to contend even with the playing field wide open right now.

Right now? 6 straight starts of throwing BP. He's awful.

And as I said before...Reds haven't turned any corner.

Bats used Alejo Lopez in RF today? Dude probably is the smallest guy in the organization and an arm not strong enough for the outfield. The Reds go about transitioning infielders to the OF the wrong way insisting on players like Rece Hinds with significant leg injuries and frankly do not believe he is good enough to make the Majors at any position. Nothing he has done to this point has impressed me.

What would have impressed me, call up Marte to AAA and throw him in RF. Don't give a shit if it is in the middle of the season, it's still the minors where development takes place. Imagine 2024 if Marte did become a RF this year and join the Reds next season with the likes of EDLC, CES, Steer, India, McLain, Fraley, Friedl & Hopkins. They might actually win some games but not while they're burying the best position players in the minors. Steer 3B, McLain CF, Marte RF, 1B CES, SS EDLC, 2B India, LF Friedl DH Fraley All sorts of different lineups the Reds could play around with.

The Reds need to move on from Newman. He is not an everyday player. It's one thing to feast on shit pitching that he did before this Brewers series but was 1 for 13 over the weekend vs Milwaukee. Cincinnati is loaded with talented infielders wasting in the minors than needing to pickup Pirates rejects. He really ignited the offense from the leadoff spot didn't he? Sick and tired of hearing how these marginal ass players 'help' this team and do nothing but hold the Reds back. You aren't going to win shit starting Newman, Fairchild, Barrero, Myers or Senzel. The Reds aren't going to receive a middle of the pack starting pitcher in a trade for them either. Think about it, the reasons you don't want them here are the same reasons other teams will not trade for them. 5 garbage players don't equal up to one solid 4th/5th option in the rotation.

Ramos DH’d today. Hit a HR then got pulled for Vosler. Ramos should have been in the OF instead of Lopez. CES was playing 3B so Votto could play 1B. CES booted a routine grounder but that inning was a shit show anyway.

Makes you wonder if they can temporarily pause the development of CES at 1B for a game due to Votto's rehab which CES has played 8 games at 3B this year...Why can't he play 3B over Senzel or Newman for the Reds now?

Yeah, Reds will pander to Votto at CES's expense. That's so Reds.

99mph don’t mean crap if it’s all you got. Did he have secondary pitches? How’s his command at that speed? Hopefully they evaluated him in that regard. How is he at the plate?

Lin Sheng-En’s Pitching Repertoire

Lin Sheng-En, the hard-throwing righty, has an overpowering fastball that topped at 155 kph (96.4 mph). Breaking pitch-wise, he throws a curve, slider and changeup. According to an unnamed MLB scout, the slider is his most polished off-speed pitch.

Just flipped over to Reds game. WLW just said Brewers have won 9 of last 10 games at GABP. That shit is unacceptable.

Glad we salvaged a game in that series. Still disappointing after the 5 game win streak. Maybe we can find that spark again v Dodgers.

Also when are we gonna have a serious talk about Ashcraft. He's been so bad lately. So bad.

Yeah but obviously a much better team at this time. I don't like the results this weekend but Krall is building something special and it just might be ahead of schedule.

Yeah, Cubs aren't the Brewers, b this isn't some world beaters Brewer team either. Theyre pretty mediocre. Would have expected a split of the series at least.

Agree about the rebuild. It does look like we're FINALLY headed in a positive direction.

Yeah and still probably a 2025 story but the wurst might have been last year. No way was I expecting a modest improvement. I guess they can still lose 100 games but it'll be a lot harder now.

As terrible as our division is, another 100 loss season would be a huge setback
