Prep coach confident Hamidou Diallo will return to Kentucky

That's why he didn't want to play, IMO. He knew all along he was going to try and go pro and didn't want to look bad in college. I hope I'm very wrong, but if he stays in the draft there's nobody in the world that convince me that he didn't totally use UK and our coaches.
But you are very wrong and your thinking for him not playing, in my opinion, is wrong.

Look, you aren't going to hide your flaws from NBA guys, you just aren't. If any aspiring stud player truly thought he could do that, he would literally be signing up to be picked in the second round.

Would you sign a guy to a multi million dollar contract having never seen him play? Maybe you would, but anyone that has that position in the NBA didn't get there by making stupid decisions like THAT.

But to all the people that are saying "looks like he's going pro to me, he didn't want to play so he didn't show his flaws". You are REALLY reaching with that accusation don't you think? I mean, you're going way out of your way to drag your balls across the kids face (credit to Quagmire).

Isn't it more likely that he knew he was behind and he didn't want to get in a college game knowing he would hurt the team? That seems so much more likely to me.

Again, he ain't gonna hide his flaws from NBA guys, so find something else.

I would be just as sick to my stomach as you if he stays in the draft and we never get to see him play at UK, but I'm not going to accuse the kid of being devious like some of you are, that's just wrong.

All I know as you are extremely passionate about something you, nor any of us, have any clue about...... which is just plain strange to me, LOL. Whatever dude.

I get your point but you refuse to get mine. Stokes did this at Tennessee. His freshman numbers were 9.6 pts and 7.4 rbs. His jr season was 15.1/10.6. A player is a player. Diallo is a far superior athlete and Diallo is very smart. You may be overstating the problem to fit your narrative.
No, I see your point, but you're choosing to dump on the kid by saying he flat out refused to play (your words).
To me, that's wrong, he didn't refuse to play, he simply chose option B, BEFORE he chose to come to UK.
To me, that's the smart move.
You're saying he "REFUSED TO PLAY" like Rosa Parks on that bus back in the 60's, like he folded his arms, stuck his bottom lip out and said "no, you can't make me". You are trying your best to make it seem like he is pissing on UK, but that's not what happened.

I think you are applying your own venom to my response.
But tell me what I said that was untrue.
Would you extend a multi million dollar deal to a kid that was hiding and didn't actually show you what he could do?
At least reply to that.

I hate going around in a circle with you on this but I won't accept you saying I'm "dumping" on the kid. Use whatever word you'd like instead of refused but he came here stating he will not play. It was up to him if he wanted to play. Clearly he didnt. I'm not sure what word makes you feel better but I'm simply stating a fact.

Did you really just associate this with Rosa Parks? Are you serious?

Let me help you out here. The definition of refuse:

indicate or show that one is not willing to do something

That is precisely what Diallo did. No pouting is required.

That Tennessee team also lost 7 of the 17 games he played in, including 4 of the first 6.

They also had no one to play instead of him. He wasn't unseating a Briscoe or Willis.

Imagine Cal throwing Diallo in and losing four of six games while he got up to speed. Think we get a 2 seed? Think our road ends up even harder than it already was? Think fans who cried for four years to see more Hawkins and Willis would have been pleased Cal dropped a lottery pick in the middle of the rotation over those guys and cost us a handful of games?

Really? I guess we can do this forever, I shoot down your point, you shoot down mine. We're getting no where.

He didn't say he will NOT PLAY. You keep making it seem like he was being difficult. You know exactly what you're doing, stop acting like you don't.

No it's not. That's not even close. He didn't refuse to play.
That is unbelievably childish.
He simply chose plan B. I guess, to make YOU happy, he should have just stayed in NY until June instead if getting a head start on next year.
He came here to get a head start on the 17/18 season. Why is that so hard for you to understand.
You do realize there's like 5 people trying to explain this to you and nobody is helping you right?

What is RP famous for?
Just answer the question.
What is Rosa Parks famous for?
Refusing to give up her seat. It was a highly charged action during the civil rights movement. If you're trying to say her action defined "refuse", it did not. It was simply one example. Do you really want me to post a dozen uses that support mine position? The definition of the word is pretty simple.

Stokes didn't have the type of talent like Fox, Briscoe and Monk in the frontcourt during his freshman season. When you are that much more talented than your teammates, even when you're behind, your talent level allows you to put up some pretty nice stats. Can you say the same about the backcourt this kid would have been trying to get minutes in? We all know this kid wouldn't have been a more talented player than Fox or Monk. At his very best, the kid would be on their level. It would be a tough thing to ask for the kid to do. If he came in and looked really bad, you just never know how that could drop him way down the draft boards and hard to recover from the following year. I think this kid stays at Kentucky and becomes a high lottery pick in next year's draft. He won't have the type of talent ahead of him in this year's backcourt. He will not be behind. The kid is such a freak athelete that if he can just show the NBA scouts that his jumpshot is not totally broken, he's a high lottery pick, probably even top 5 in the NBA draft. Not many players entering or even playing college basketball has the type of quickness and hops this kid has. I do understand plans change and the kid could decide to stay in the draft, but i don't see that happening. Cal and this kid has a pretty good relationship and had a plan and both are sticking to it. I don't see this kid screwing over Cal or Kentucky at the last minute for a second round commitment, nevermind a first round commitment. Why worry so much about something we all have no control over? Instead of freaking out about the kid leaving Kentucky, let's wait until the kid actually decides to leave Kentucky before talking ish about the kid and family. Some might want to say the kid has the NBA on his mind too much, but let's be honest, if you're talented enough and have the chance to make it happen, all kids would have the NBA in their thoughts. The fact is most kids know they will never be talented enough to sniff the pros and focus on their talent at the college basketball level instead. Let's give this kid a chance before we totally kick him out of the BBN, can we?

That's what I thought.
What Rosa did was Refuse after being told to do something. That is a whole different deal than what Diallo did.
Diallo didn't "REFUSE" anything. He was given options and he chose one of the options.
You act like Cal gave him one option and he refused to do it.
You're choosing to ignore facts to fit your agenda. You THINK nobody sees that, but everyone that has read your posts can see right through you.

Lol, you think that is the only use of the term? Enough of this. Its like arguing with Bill Clinton about the definition of "is".

Great post. Also, kids these days are much more business-like about their decisions regarding the draft. A few have and will make bad decisions and enter early when they should have stayed e.g.Teague, Lamb but for the most part, if the kid has a good core of supporters surrounding him which Diallo seems to have, then a smart decision will be made. I look for him to return.
