Prep coach confident Hamidou Diallo will return to Kentucky

I crack up at the Calipari worshippers or Barnhart worshippers comments. Why wouldn't I like, cheer for and wish the best for our guys?

Don't you know if you wish for the best for the team, Cal, and our guys you're just an NBA fan, some undercover rival fan, or a Cal worshipper. Seriously, it's all a result of the success of our program. Since Cal has been here we've been the most successful program in the nation during that timeframe. Anytime anything the least bit negative happens there is an epic meltdown because the fans are so used to success.

You mean assumptions like the kid was never focused on UK or that he's played Cal all along or that he was ready to contribute?

Or different assumptions?

Nope, different assumptions.

So you think messing with the rotation of a team that was a bad whistle away from a title was best for the team? Playing a player who didn't feel ready was best for the team?

Do you remember how our guys look in November? You wanted to throw Diallo in at crunch time when he's at that stage?

Its gonna be so nauseating if he does decide to return and all the Calipari worshipers are gonna be like "Never doubt Cal, Always Trust in Cal, Like Cal always says players first, Cal knows what he's doing". You all are gonna think hes an even bigger God than you already do!
oh dear what will the Cal haters say?
"sniff, sniff...Cal is so bad, we had to wait weeks on this decision. He is the devil!"

Oh, if he leaves there will be a meltdown, and this board will meltdown every time the team loses this season. And every time any of the guards struggle at all in any game. And any time we're down in the first half. And any time we're up by single digits.
I guarantee that some have already pret-yped their threads and responses to themselves on their multiple accounts

I want him back and never said the NBA can't be on his mind. That's natural.

But his focus, direct focus, needs to be here or he shouldn't come back, no. The last thing we need is an 18 year old listening to the wrong people about the wrong things. Giving him 30+ minutes a game while he's timid can cause damage. And w know Cal wouldn't bench him even if it was happening.

Son my point is, come back, focus on UK, focus on your game, and let the chips fall like most recruits do. He does that he'd be fine.

I don't know who he is listening to. A lot of these kids have family and handlers that they listen to. But I think you are over thinking this big time.

He knows more than I do. He's confident and I'm not.

I just don't think he knows ENOUGH for me to stop worrying about it. The kid seems to want to be gone. Course it's the difference of a scholly versus millions of dollars so....
I keep seeing these "he just seems like he wants to be gone" comments. What has he done to make people post those comments?
I'm seeing the direct opposite based on his actions. He hasn't signed with an agent and he appears to not want to play in the 5 on 5 at the combine. That tells me he's not all in on going pro, if he was all in and really wanted to go, he NEEDED to impress in all aspects of the combine. Dude's just dipping his toe in the water.
But please tell me what it is that you are seeing that is making you say that he just wants to be gone.

1. If Mr. Poe is your "son" you would be dirt old.
, but as a former collegiate player and high school coach, I've seen first hand what happens when a players head isn't where he currently is.
2. Never, go full UMM

No that's what you said. I think he comes back. That's just my opinion. He can go higher next year.

If he doesn't come back you don't need an "I told you so". It will be visible for everyone to see that he picked UK over Uconn because he could troll us for the NBA. That's not me saying it, that's Diallo showing it.

My preference is he comes back to UK and focuses on UK. Strange for a UK fan today I know.

You might not want to start a poll on that last statement, you might be surprised with the results.

So nothing on the hypocrisy then? Glad that's settled. I've been using the wrong definition of Devil's advocate my entire life.
Obfuscating again. I never said anything about hypocrisy. I started this talking about your use of "arbitrary". The rest is you changing horses 3-4 times. As far as "devils advocate" is concerned, if you aren't using it like:

"a person who expresses a contentious opinion in order to provoke debate or test the strength of the opposing arguments"

Then you are correct, you've been using it wrong.

Just playing devils advocate here, but you think it's arbitrary to expect players who can play to play? In the history of UK has there ever been another player who refused on his own and never played? That's hardly arbitrary.
What are the facts on that refusal to play issue?
I thought it was more along the lines of him not wanting to abort the plan that he and Cal had, which was practice with the team then play in 17/18.
That changes things, you make it sound like he refused to go into a game when asked, but I really think he just wanted to stick to the plan and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

? Cal said he left playing up to Hami. Define it how you will, but that means Hami refused to play.

Oh, do present your evidence.

Let's see.

Enrolled early at uk refused to play

Enters the draft playing smoke and mirrors games trying to gain his way to a good pick without being seen.

What evidence do you want. All that's left is for him to go pro at this point.

Funny thread. I've been on an iPhone posting while having a kid. Not myself, of course. Didn't mean to call Poe my son, meant to say so.

Fans of the board have been conditioned by this process. When he committed no one thought it was acceptable for him to leave without playing even for the first round. Now it's completely ok and to hell with UK's roster. F that. You can have it.

Having said that, I think I'll name my son Diallo Poe. Seems fitting I'll run it by the Poe's and my pregnant sandwich maker.

But have you even considered that he and Cal had a plan and he didn't want to stray from it?
Did you even consider that he had only practiced for a month and he probably felt like he wasn't ready to step on the court with a bunch of dudes that have been playing games for 4 months? I sure as hell wouldn't want to do that.
Did you ever consider that he is just testing the waters right now and was directed by Cal to do that? Sure looks that way to me. You're awfully hard on the kid without knowing the facts.
I'm in the camp that will not be happy with the situation if HD goes pro this year, that's not a good look for this program, but I'm at least going to let this play out. I honestly think he's coming back based on the facts.

Congrats, my friend.

But know that your sandwich maker will have enough on her plate dealing with one baby. So maybe cut down on your Diallo whining for her sake. :D

Congrats man, hope all are doing well, only thing better than kids is Grandkids lol

Hard on the kid? I don't understand your entire post. Cal said he left the playing decision up to Hami. Your entire premise contradicts a known statement. I haven't been hard on the kid at all. He had a plan and worked it. Telling the truth isn't being hard on him. Hami made a decision to not play. That decision was designed to benefit him specifically. It's just a fact.

Where did you get your quote from? I'm not being argumentative, I just haven't seen the quote anywhere and I've asked several posters about it.
My thought was that he asked if Diallo wanted to abort the plan and play, Diallo said no, he wanted to stick to the plan (my interpretation of it). To me, I think that's the right move, stick to the plan.
There is no way in hell that HD was ready to step in and play at that level with only a month of practice, I wouldn't have done it either.
However, it's possible you are right, I'm willing to consider both sides of it, but I don't know all the facts and it appears you don't either.

Yea man been crazy. 10.2 lbs 23 inches. Appreciate the thoughts a new wildcat is here and I'm gonna make him just as crazy as I am!

Still trying to work her on Calipari for the middle name. Making ground. I think jack Calipari has a nice ring to it :)

Congrats brother!

damn -big boy! Congrats hon; very happy for you!

Very interesting. He has absolutely nothing to gain by playing the 5 on 5. I find that odd. He must be leaning towards coming back pretty strongly and wants to hear what it is he needs to work on
and, I maintain, that this is what they were wanting to do all along
I don't think he was hiding, I don't think there was smoke and mirrors. I think Hami told Cal, I won't play this year, just practice, enter draft, see what I need to work on, then come back to do that and to lead the Cats.
There could have been a multitude of reasons why he didn't - or maybe couldn't? - play this year. Cal is a master of fudging things a little when it comes to the players, as long as it protects them.

Yes, I'll be disappointed if he stays in the draft; but I don't think that was the original plan. Things happen - if he goes, then I wish him well. If he returns, I welcome him back.

Excellent post and agree completely.

Why do you keep referencing a month? The team played for nearly 3 months after his arrival. But, again, that really isn't the issue. Read this, my statement is a pretty good paraphrase of what happened.

http://www.coachcal.com/43281/2017/02/meet-the-wildcats-diallo-patiently-waiting-for-his-time/
I don't know what you were thinking, but that video proved my point.
You're making it sound like the kid was asked to enter a game and told Cal "NO".
Diallo said Cal gave him two CHOICES prior to his arrival.
-come here and play now
Or
-practice with the team and play next year

HD chose to wait til next year.
Again, this is prior to his arrival on campus. So, you're calling him out and saying he is hiding? You're kidding.
