Has anybody heard of any potential candidates for his replacement? Will they go the Mmmm for another young upcoming coaching with a great recruiting rep or a more experienced coach geared toward Xs and Os?

I want Woodyard. Can’t help but feel he’d kill it on the recruiting trail and sideline with his passion..
Has to be someone who can recruit. Losing Clink and Sumrall in back-to-back seasons means you have to go after a big time recruiter.

We keep this thing rolling by continuing to improve recruiting.
Stoops tends to pick well when he finds assistants. I'm not terribly worried.
I’ll tell you what, anybody that wants to be a big time coach should salivate at being our LB coach.

He is a horrible hire

I don’t think he’s a bad coach, as many nationally have just written him off because he sank with Coach O’s Titanic, but I don’t think he’s a fit for our team.
I would love this if he’s got the desire to get into coaching and Stoops believes he handle the job.
I’d love it too. Maybe he can sneak into a Jersey and be our defensive anchor on the sly still.

Sumrall was our co DC & 2nd best recruiter. Those wanting to give that slot to Woodyard are displaying 5-6 1980's settling-to-lose attitude. I'd love Wes Woodyard at UK....off the field GA, or analyst role

He'd be a well paid analyst, and that would be deserved and more than OK with me. I think I agree he'd fit oddly aa a field coach.
He's already been hired by Georgia to be the Co-DC w/ Glenn Schumann when Lanning leaves for Oregon after the NC game
He's the DC at Auburn right now. He wouldn't leave for a positional / co-DC title unless he is miserable there.
I don't think our new LB coach will be anyone discussed above. I keep scanning the list of position coaches who lost their jobs and became available since October because of new HC hires and staff turnover at scores of schools. There are a whole lot of interesting names. Too many to discuss. It will be someone with previous coaching experience at the college or NFL level. It will be a younger type coach who can recruit and relate to players.
Sumrall was a DC coaching LBers. He is an outstanding recruiter and coach. Stoops will want a DC mind in that position.

There are a bunch of experienced SEC coaches available who would qualify as strong recruiters and Lbacker coaches. Steele is one of those. One of the first names I thought about. But I do not know if Stoops knows him well. That would not matter to some coaches, but it will matter in this case.
I heard J Rowland say Stoops would like a more experienced guy with some DC background to help with scheming ,tweaking, in game adjustments and such . Collins, Stewart, and Buffuno all have less than 5 years in their current positions and no DC experience. And Brad White is relatively green as a DC.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if they took someone like Coen. An energetic younger guy with a bit of NFL experience who wants to put SEC on his resume and get a nice raise.
Sounds like Mike Stoops if they can get around the ridiculous, archaic nepotism thing.
Depends on what Stoops wants I guess. Not sure Mike would effectively recruit Sumrall's territory(Alabama/Mississippi) but maybe Mark shifts someone else their.
Yeah , I was meaning ”if” what J Rowland was saying is correct.
I bet Iowa and UofL would have liked to have that anti-nepotism thing in place.
