Post your name here

Sad that little has changed in 5 seasons with a HOF coach that built his reputation on proving the naysayers wrong. That coach we hired 15 years ago is no longer here. I was hopeful that with all of the criticism he has received from not only the fans, alumni, former players and most boosters on top of the national basketball media, it would bring back the fire from Cal. But it hasn’t.

He has lost most, if not all, of his credibility over these last 5 seasons.

What’s our tournament record since this thread was started?? 😂😂😂

Sorry @Fox2monk, I know you’ve changed your tune, but had to post. I am proud to say I was the first to sign up!!!!

Some funny stuff in this thread.
It always gets brought up at this time. I tried to stay with him as long as I could, even I didn’t think it would get this bad.

Here is how I feel. Hulk Sad.

You weren't wrong. Making decisions based on hindsight bias is my least favorite thing in the world. The fact is in 2019 were were one shot away from another Final Four. Anyone who wanted Cal gone at that point wasn't being reasonable and had no real reason to want him gone.

Results since November 2020 do not prove someone was right in 2019.

Kirk: I will always be a CAL hater, He could win 10 NCAA championships in a row. Does not make me like the guy. I did not like him in 2012, I will not like him in 2029.

I love the kids that play for us, while they are here. Do not follow after that. I praise when all the right buttons are pushed and we win, I complain when we are a lost ball in high weeds (which is far too often in the Cal tenure). I as a fan have that right. Just like the fans that follow 100% backing Cal, Mitch and the team. Does not make either fan better than the other fan.

Except that if you could see it. Cal was always going to be short because he was recruiting non shooters. 2020 and 2024 are exceptions. He insisted on the feeding the post with poor foul shooters. That's not a recipe for advancing.

I thought he was the best coach for this job but needed to reinvent himself when this thread was made. He failed to do that and we've been in a decline ever since. Just got fat and rich. I don't care if he gets a Final Four or Championship. It's time to take a hike Cal.

I want everyone of our supposed fans who run it about Cal sucking to sign their name right here. That way when we go to our next final four I don’t wanna hear you all celebrating like you been here all along.
I will if you agree to exit this board for life if they do not make FF. Are you related to Cal? You would have to be to support him.

I’ll say it.. I think Cal is a great recruiter…average coach….and an arrogant SOB who has not won a championship in 12 years. He better win a championship this year with the talent he has, otherwise he needs to be run out on a rail

I hope like hell we win it all this year and also hope like hell this is Cal’s last year. Unfortunately neither are likely to be the case.

Don’t sweat the thread. I made a post around 6 years ago saying let’s all support Calipari and get this right. We all want to believe he’s going to blaze the trail and be our modern goat. Some of us like you and I want to believe it badly. But it’s not coming, even if he wins some at this point the damage is done. He’ll never win to the standard again because the game has changed and he no longer has the edge with the OAD system. It’s over man.

We still have guys defending a guy. Who lost to a 15 seed, and then followed up with 12 losses and a 2nd round loss. Are we taking crazy pills? Lol, UK fans 20-30-40 years ago wouldn't support this shit.

I don’t, I was firmly still on his side back then. It was before his total collapse at least. I’ve said many times, I really loved when Cal came and it was awesome even until around the time of this post.

Some cracks were forming but nothing that couldn’t be fixed, or so I thought. I’ve made a crap ton of posts over the years. I’m sure this is far from the first or last time I’ll say something stupid 🤣 .

Our good buddy @Jamal Mercer just wants his yearly recognition for being an early adopter and proponent of change! It’s all good.

Even though I was never a Cal Pumper (or whatever the correct term is) I made a commitment after the St. Peter's loss to hang in there for at least 2 more seasons. The next loss will be the end of that 2nd season and will free me from my personal commitment. I hope I have egg on my face after 6 games. But, with this talent we need a huge run.....NOW!!

I hope it pans out for your post and for us as a fanbase lol.

I do have hope as well, I really like this team. I hope they get on fire 4 games in a row. Then anything is possible.
At least we aren't running Askew and Wheeler out there at point. Two things that have happened since you made the original post heheh.

And you know I don't hold it against you. Good God some of the crap I've said on here...especially when wasted/mad after a loss.

These threads are so damned stupid.

I guess Im not a dedicated Reds fan and cant celebrate a World Series because Ive pointed out the front office needs to spend some damned money to buy players we need.

I guess I cant celebrate the Bengals finally winning a playoff game because Ive called Mike Brown a cheapskate cocksucker and that Marvin Lewis needed to go 10 yrs ago.

This UK team is playing bad basketball. I dont know why a section of our fan base tries to pride themselves on ignoring it, like it somehow makes you a better person. It doesnt. It makes you naive. Calling them out for being bad right now doesnt make anyone a bad fan. It makes them realistic.

When the team plays bad, they will be called out for it. When they play well, they will be praised. UK fandom isnt an either or proposition. Frankly this notion is completely assinine. If you are OK with the way things are right now, you need your head checked. It doesnt mean if they get things figured out they wont deserve praise.

They played OK yesterday, better than Utah and Georgia Tech. There's a difference between getting beat in a 40 minute boxing match, v getting beat because of poor coaching and half assed effort on the floor. Im not going to "rah-rah" the latter and thats what we've seen several games this year

This post stood the test of time.

I want to add a disclaimer here... I was a legit full-blown alcoholic at the birth of this thread. I take both full and no responsibility for my comments.

I'm now 2 years, 7 months, and 3 days sober. The positive impact of that decision can not be measured in words.

I need to do this.

I’ve been here since the Tubby days when I found this board. I will always support UK and have never wanted them to lose no matter who the coach was. That being said, Cal does less with more than anyone making $9 or 10 million a year.

Also, my name is in the top left corner of this post.
