Portland drafting the 7-footer from UConn

Im starting to believe that basketball has become a purely speculative sport.

Some of the draft picks got to make me wonder.

It's a historically weak draft, so a lot of teams were literally using draft picks for future moves or to not have to pay salary. Lot of posturing going on last night, when only 2-3 of these guys will be stars (maybe), and another handful might make it more than 5-6 years.

It's weak at the top regarding potential superstars, but there are actually a lot of good players in this draft. If your team needs "elite role players", then you could get them in this draft. Somebody will need to step up to be great though.

Problem is, good luck finding who they are. And there's just too many teams who aren't good enough to be looking at "role players". They need pieces to win games now and save their jobs.
