Wow, that seems like a lot. I think that’s more than Hurley made this year and would put him in the top 10 among active coaches. I’m actually kind of excited about Pope, but Mitch really is a train wreck when it comes to contract negotiations.

He's pushing retirement age. He doesn't care man. He will be retired and the new ad will fire pope and have to clean up this mess.

I just started watching UK basketball right after Cal's last final four. I have never seen a final four or national championship myself. I would do anything to see either at this point. But I never knew what it was like when Kentucky was the top dog anyway.
I'm not mad at this. After missing on our top 2 or 3 candidates, we would have had to wait a week or more for Donovan, and the other guys are just meh. Pope beat Self this season. Hurley was a nobody until last season. Pope may not work out, but he is gonna be much cheaper and if he doesn't work out, we can move on relatively quickly.

This is exactly why Pratt took over the hiring process in 2009 (after Mitch revealed his lack of understanding of how it works just two years earlier).
