Poor Will Levis

Dude. Eli cox called out the pre-snap coverages because Leary couldn’t. That’s why our offense ran so slow. There is no category in which Leary was better than Levis.

I had this discussion before. The announcer was dead wrong when he said that. C calls out presnap blocking assignments not coverages. A C never ever does that because they can't even see safeties and they have no idea how QB reads a defense or even what routes we have.

C calls out blocking assignments and identified potential blitzers so the line understands the assignments. All that can change as people move or if someone walks up late especially on the perimeter. That's why you often see QBs, including ours, shift protection late.

Under Levis teams blitzed us relentlessly because his presnap recognition was so poor and his post snap processing so slow. Leary was the exact opposite.

I didn't intend on this thread about Levis great game and his good rookie year to turn into critiques of his shortcomings in college. At the end of the day we all loved watching him play. I just want people to understand exactly how far he already progressed because it's very impressive

With every accomplishment and record set by Levis, Coen’s light shines a little brighter.

Levis was a theee star HS player and a backup at Penn State who was known only as a strong runner.

Three years later look at him!!
I’ll take all the good vibes and recruiting and developing talent credit we can get with Levis. Certainly it’s a feather in Coen’s cap, but he didn’t give him that rocket connected to his shoulder. It’s honestly hard to believe he was ever considered just a runner.

Can't wait to live bet this Sundays Titan game after this dumbass starts another stupid anti-Levis thread

but he didn’t give him that rocket connected to his shoulder. It’s honestly hard to believe he was ever considered just a runner.
And he didn’t give him a mediocre 3 Star rating, or ask him to sit the bench behind another.

He did give him a chance to start and excel at those things he’s good at.

When a guy like Levis blows up, reverberations are felt.

Some that chose to pass on him in the draft are likely feeling heat for that choice.

Likewise, the football world will search and find the “spark” that got the fire started.

And Coen is the obvious lighter.

This is a bit of a weird hill you’re fighting for.

Leary was a big disappointment last year, some the fault of others, but a lot on him.

Levis wasn’t perfect, but his first year was hands down better than what Leary did last year.

Yeah, extremely bizarre. Takes shots at Levis for some games but fails to mention Leary sucking the whole season outside of UT.

Someone can be both a disappointment and also play much better than most fans give them credit. It isn't a binary world.

The only thing hands down better was the win column. That's it. Fans have a weird revisionist history about Levis first year at UK. Levis was a much better QB his second year, but people just focus on that first year. I think it was because Terry was so bad the year before.

Regardless people should give Will tons of credit for the growth since that first year here

I’ve been pissed all week! I turned the game off when Miami went up two touchdowns, I missed a great ending to a game! 💩m$&@!?:;()damn/:;$&@😂
And you ain't the only one!!

I left my sports bar at that very moment, drove home and watched the replay ten minutes after it occurred on my cell phone.

If Coen is the lighter then play action is the gas. That was our bread and butter his one year with Coen, and it’s his best base set currently in NFL. (Having Derrick Henry and Chris Rodriguez helps sell it to the linebackers.)

I agree (somewhat) with @bigblueinsanity that it was often deep pass (or nothing) to Wandale off of play action. He now gets to his 2nd and 3rd reads much better than when in college. But … players are supposed to continue improving and not plateau. I also believe Coen would have developed him more last year.

Bottom line for UK, Levis’ effective play will help Coen recruit. I wish Leary would have worked out better. Two high NFL QB draft picks in a row would be huge.

True.

Why doesn't one "side" or the other post actual numbers side-by-side for comparison.

Arguing this issue using words is insufficient; this is a math issue.
Let's do Will Levis 2021 vs Devin Leary 2023

Passing Yards:
Levis - 2,826
Leary - 2,440

Completion %:
Levis - 66.0%
Leary - 56.3%

Passing TDs/INTs:
Levis - 24/13
Leary - 23/10

QB rating:
Levis - 148.3
Leary - 132.3

Rushing Yards/TDs:
Levis - 376 yards/9 TDs
Leary - -55 yards (yes you read that right that is MINUS 55 yards)/1 TD

Team record:
Levis - 10-3, 5-3 SEC
Leary - 7-5, 3-5 SEC

Y'all be the judge. It ain't close. Only one dude thinks it is.

Mmmmm.

I was too lazy to do it, but had a pretty good idea this would be the case.

This is one stat I did not expect in preseason. This CANNOT all be blamed on drops. Every QB has drops and yes, our receivers dropped too many passes. But, much of this is on Leary.

He threw several passes a game that were with precision accuracy. Then, he had some very ugly throws. I’m guessing part of this was him reading the defense differently than receivers. However, these same receivers seemed to be on same page with QB the previous year.

I wish Leary the best. I still wouldn’t be surprised to see Leary end up in situation like Purdy and end up in late round, (or UDFA) but find his way on the field and succeed after something happens to QB 1.

Will Levis has thrown for 1,593 yards, 8 TD, 3 INT in seven games as the Titans' QB.

That projects to 3,868 yards, 19 TD, 7 INT in a full season. He's having one helluva rookie year with one WR and one of the league's worst O-lines.
I saw that he was pressured on 50% of his drop backs during the game. His current Oline is similar to what he had at UK last year. If he gets some solid protection I expect that he will have some really good seasons.

Levi’s year one isn’t even close to Leary

But his year two is debatable. Man what a disappointing season that was. Really thought he’d take us to new heights. We made so many boneheaded plays in that ole miss game. As we did the year before- really gave away each game.

Levis was 10-3 his first year and was healthy. He played behind a worse line than Leary his second year and was hurt over 3/4 of the season. Levis had Heisman talk going into year 2, but a new OC, horrible line, and injury derailed that. He still had a higher QB rating than Leary even in that year and led Kentucky to the same record as Leary did .

Big Levis fan and ordered Sunday ticket to watch his games but he’s definitely playing like his draft pick and rookie today. There will be games like this until he learns though. Well hopefully he learns.

Henry has 9yds on 16 attempts. I think just about everyone would struggle on this shitty team. OC doesn’t give him any favors either.
Titans O n their scheme is horrible! Hope Levi’s doesn’t get seriously injured before help arrives!

2nd and 10 and titans run it after averaging less than a yard per rush on the day. Can’t make this stuff up.

Entire franchise is an embarrassment. Might as well have bag boys from Kroger trying to protect him.

This has been criminal to watch. That offensive line is worse than some in high-school....embarrassing

I hope he isn't hurt bad, it didn't look great. Also looked like like the dude who tackeld him tried to bend him back and injure him. Just horrible.

The oline and offensive scheme are going to get Levis seriously injured if the front office doesn't make changes. Nothing but runs up the middle and deep routes. Vrabel played for a tie, glad to watch his dumbass lose.
