I haven't heard that word come out of a non-"black" person's mouth in over 20 years. I get that the word source is actually the color "black" in another language but if it's offensive, why do they use it so much?
I'm still hearing about people who identify as "black" but are clearly mixed refusing to date or associate with truly black-pigmented people. Is it their own racism that makes them so uncomfortable?
I was talking with a friend that had proposed that theory many years ago. He dated black women and found their racism to be insurmountable. Whether it was how they viewed other white people, or how they viewed people recently immigrating from Africa, they were extremely tribal and bigoted even while appearing mainstream and influenced by popular culture. Usually took a few dates for them to be comfortable enough to show it, but it was there and pretty offensive.

Makes the situation seem more dire actually. How did they fool hundreds of millions of people into voting for a big city imposter for 3 terms? Hope it's only 3 and doesn't turn out to be 5.
