The shit sandwich handed out especially for millennials is very obvious especially when it came to college. Everyone was told to go to college or you'd be a loser working in fast food. You got to enter adulthood with 9/11, got out of college to endure the financial crisis of 2008, fighting like crazy just to get to the income level your high school educated parents got. Now, you'll have boomers who will come tell you to "pull up your boot straps" BS and about how they went to the military or trade school. But keep in mind, high school guidance counselors only stirred impressionable kids toward college unless you were considered a loser, a 'pot head' or troublemaker---then the trades and military was encouraged for them.

That's straight up how it was. Now, you'd be dumb as hell to encourage your kids to go to college for anything other than a few majors. Learn a trade or try to start your own business because you're entering a world of shit where home ownership is not attainable for most of you and you're competing against AI, outsourcing, and illegals.

Awesome post. My wife is a high school counselor and will say that things did change 10 years ago. Most schools have pathways that are geared towards helping individualized student needs.

Our state has a long way to go, starting with putting a vocational school in every county. Our students are shuttled to Garrard and Lincoln. I think the number is also capped at 60 juniors and seniors.

Another great thing to add is that Kentucky congress now allows KEES money to follow students to post secondary vocational schools like Lineman school.
