This is nonsense, in multiple ways. There were many Founding Fathers (and Mothers), not just the ones we know that leaned toward Deism. And many of them, most assuredly, believed in a God that was not a watchmaker.

Was listening to The Mike Gallagher Show this morning...and he mentioned that a new poll showed that Trump was leading Harris in New York with the Jewish vote. Had to get out of the car so I didn't hear what poll it was.

So what's the issue here? It specifically said in the document it was a small group of extremist Catholics. Good. You don't get a terrorist pass for being religious. In fact, that's generally where the terrorists come from. You think there's no terroristic extremism in the Islamic community just because they're Muslim?
We just said the same thing, did we not? Many of them were deists, many of them were not. Depends on the specific individual. And that's why the consensus was reached to be entirely secular. So that each individual could have their own relationship with religion unburdened by the state.
Donald Trump could have acted like a coddled rich kid and pissed away anything his daddy ever gave him and spent it all on drugs and partying and booze until he was left with nothing. Trump doesn't consume Alcohol or drugs because his Brother decided to squander HIS opportunity by abusing substances that ultimately cost him his life. Of course people are born under different circumstances. The African American Entrepreneur I have the pleasure of working for didn't become insanely wealthy from a handout, he grew up poor, but valued his education and not letting outside influences interfere with his goals and aspirations. He failed at his first attempts at business but kept working to where now he is one of the most admired men in the country. You can't help where you're born or who you're born to, but you can sure help where you finish in life.
Your people arrested people there at the protest that was just there and did nothing. Those are the people that should be pardoned, right? Nothing wrong with 'peaceful' protesters, right? Anyone that assaulted a cop should pay for it. Your people in jail did not pay for destroying innocent people lives. Just like the handful of aggressors on Jan 6th them and the arsonists should be in jail. But yours aren't.
I don't favor any of that policy, no. I said this to you the other day, it's useless arguing border policy with me as our personal positions are too far apart. You could have an immigration scare debate with a moderate Dem, but I don't have similar thoughts or priorities on the topic.

I have the exact same position as you claim, support peaceful protesting and condemn the individuals who escalate to criminal behavior. But you say that position is untenable, if one supports the cause they support the entirety. So I'm just applying your same standard back to you. You can't condemn supporters of BLM protests while supporting the exact same conduct and making the distinction only on your side. It's the definition of hypocrisy.

Near half of them check the wind to see how they will act on any given day. Republican majorities unless massive are useless. Watch what happens on anything meaningful. It will take a super-majority. (Watch how many times that comes up as the excuse...) Just the way it is...
It was not a "small group" it was the traditional Catholics. The Ones who still go to masses said in Latin. These people were threatening no one. A few of them might have prayed outside an Abortion clinic or something, but they are zero threat for any sort of violence or terrorism, yet they were singled out. Just like anyone who happens to support Trump or is a "consumer of religious material" among other things that clearly described Conservatives, as was also exposed.

Some experience here. We still own our first home in lex and rent it. Own our home outside of lexington. Have done very little upgrades on lexington home. Nothing reported for value increases. We received letters earlier this yr telling us our homes new property evaluations. Which we never requested.
Apparently several homes had been sold or renovated and they established new values on our houses. Value went up from 140 to 220. 140 being about a ten yr old eval. And what did that do for me, my property taxes went up 200 a yr and insurance went up 170. My current home the same deal. Value went up 75 thousand. Causing the same thing. So I did nothing but my overhead taxes and insurance went up 700 bucks a yr in one cycle because the govt and banks raised the values.
Their problems is how much new builds now cost. Inflation has drove up the cost on every piece of material it takes to build the exact same house. They have no choice but to lists the new house at a much higher rate because they cost so much more to build.
But they are in the same neighborhoods as houses built 6 to 7 yrs ago. Exact same model that was sold at 220,000 now has to be listed above 350 to make a profit. They can't sell the new homes next to the older ones that were built much cheaper without arbitrarily raising the value of the existing inventories so new builds can compete.
Seems great, sell my old house now for that new value except interest rates have tripled. Keeping home buyers at bay. What we paid for both at our prime rate yrs ago vs what it would cost to buy now wouldn't be in our stratosphere. A 140 home at 2.75 interest vs a 225 home at 7 interest with higher insurance to cover higher cost. That is a significant increase in mortgage payments. For the same house in a 4 yr period.
When/if things stabilize and inflation comes down, home values will plummitt. Ppl buying new builds now will never have that value plus extra interest paid back. There is going to be another housing collapse at some point. Inevitable.
So how do you proposes everyone get this "equal opportunity" you speak of? How does this country get built if not for people like the Trumps? How do you put everyone on an equal footing? How do you put Trump as a youngster on an equal footing as the kid born in a trailer park? Are Wealthy parents supposed to just abandon their children and turn them over to the state to be placed in a trailer park? or are Poor Parents supposed to turn over their kids to wealthy people to provide for them? There is zero way to guarantee what you are asking for.
