I'm a long time Democrat voter, and Trump is Literally the best thing to happen to this country, best leader we've had in decades at the very minimum.



I don't read any of "their" posts unless I have to to get context or otherwise incidentally, but that's all part of the trick they don't even realize that happesn.

They are ok with socialism and governmetn control because they have already ceded it over to them. see no problem expanding the governemtn to included health care workers or everyone else... at which point everyone, like in social democrat europe, is either dependent or closely related to the government such that democratically voting against whatever crumbs the government decides to give you is against your own (near term) best interest, which keeps everyone under control and much poorer than they otherwise would've been.

Not that applies to every civil servant, but it applies to these idiots; they don't understand how anything actually works and misery loves company.

As a DoD civil servant employee, this check on Friday is the first one with OASDI not withheld because I can’t opt out of it. What a dumb idea. I’m sure some of his supporters will be dumb enough to be happy about it not being deducted now but they’re too dumb to realize it has to be paid back starting in January. For some people, what Trump says, and the ways he acts, is more important than what he does. For some people, character trumps (heh) everything. Some think that traits like integrity, honestly, humility, decorum, whatever - that's foundational. If you don't have that, you're not talking about someone in whom you can have much faith, they are not reliable in a fundamental way. So what they do or accomplish is secondary, because what they might do next is unpredictable. ANy outcome, good or bad, is incidental.

I get that. Whether I ordinarily agree with that or not, in this situation, I don't. This isn't the 1960s, where we all had this fairy tale understanding of the Presidency and the people who held that office. After Nixon, after Clinton, we all by now very much understand Presidents are flawed people like everyone else - in fact, if you think about what it takes to get to that level, they are likely more flawed than your average person. Given that, I don't really care about a President's personal shortcomings. What does he do, generally? What does he do for my country? My family? That's how I assess it.

At that point, it should be what it always has been throughout history - a simple disagreement. You like one guy, I like the other. But no - like so much these days, those on the other side will not tolerate disagreement. If I disagree that Trump's character is disqualifying, that means I'm a racist, a bigot, in short that Trump's character faults are now my own. It's an unreasonable response. So I don't give it much weight.
