Correct. El Paso also leans left. Midland, Lubbock and Amarillo lean heavily right. ATX is crazy absolutely batshit crazy in terms of hyper-leftist city officials (i.e. Jose Garza). ATX (Travis County) went 71% for Biden last election. Biden barely won Tarrant County (Fort Worth).Lived in SA for 4+ years ('07-'11) and really liked the city. Talked with some friends of ours who still live in the area recently and they are thinking of leaving. Tons of illegals, crime on the rise (they live outside SA in a gated community and the HOA has warned residents to pull into their garage and put the door down before opening the trunk to unload groceries and/or merchandise as there have been multiple robberies where the homeowner left the garage door up and unloaded stuff), drug problems, rise of gang activity, etc. Also, since it's now > 2.5M people in the metro area and is growing into Austin, it's gotten so big that it will likely succumb to all the normal big city problems sooner rather than later. Houston is very Democratic and has been for a while and, of course, it has a gajillion problems that only more tax dollars will be able to solve (until, of course, when those dollars don't solve the problem so MORE tax dollars are needed). I think Dallas is also left-leaning, IIRC.

Illegals + Homeless: Huge problems here. Few cars on my street and nearby streets had windows knocked out. I'm armed on my early morning walks, although unarmed during mid-day hikes. Lots and lots of homeless druggies nearby, at least 20-30 within 1 mile radius. They usually leave everyone alone except when asking for money.
Usually Latino illegal immigrants mind their own business and go to work. Many ride bicycles now to work. Our part of town is ~70% Latino. Some apartment bedrooms sleep 8 people per room. Crazy stuff.
